Liebe Besucher und Aussteller des OpenDay 2013,

seit nun mehr als 5 Jahren existiert der OpenDay als exklusive internationale Kontaktmesse im Rahmen der Jahreshauptversammlung von EESTEC. Jedes Jahr findet der OpenDay somit in einer anderen Stadt in einem anderen Land statt. Durch die verschiedenen kul-turellen und individuellen Einflüsse der Organisationskomitees durchläuft der OpenDay eine sehr dynamische, rapide Entwicklung die wir hier mit Stolz präsentieren. In diesem Sinne möchten wir Euch im Namen von EESTEC und der Fachschaft Elektrotechnik und Infor-mationstechnik einladen, dieses einmalige Event in der Innenstadt für Euch zu entdecken. Die verschiedenen Angebote machen den OpenDay zu mehr als nur einem Karriereforum. Neben dem direkten Kontakt zu den Unternehmen vor Ort, bieten wir über den Tag verteilt Gastvorträge an. Ziel hierbei ist es, Euch Kultur, Angebote und weitere individuelle Aspekte der Unternehmen aus einer anderen Sichtweise näher zu bringen.

Neben den Kontaktmöglichkeiten zu den Unternehmen machen wir Euch ein Angebot, wie auf keinem anderen Karriereforum in Deutschland. Die Vertreter der Jahreshauptver-sammlung stehen dabei als Kommunikationsschnittstelle zu ihren Universitäten für Euch

bereit. Solltet Ihr somit Interesse an einem Auslandsaufenthalt in Europa haben, geben wir hier Euch die Möglichkeit Informationen und Angebote einzuholen. Ob Spanien, Zypern oder doch Finnland, das bleibt ganz Euch überlassen.Des Weiteren möchten wir auf das Ange-bot des Alumni & Career Service der TUM aufmerksam machen, welcher allen TUM Studenten einen kostenlosen CV Check anbietet. Die Technische Universität München brilliert mit zahlreichen disziplinären Kompetenzen und überzeugt mit fächerübergreifenden Forschungsprogrammatiken. Als unternehmerische Universität fördern wir das Engagement unserer Studierenden, Wissen und Können über das studierte Fach hinaus zu erlangen. Das macht unsere Absolventen zu „High-Potentials“ in Wissenschaft und Wirtschaft. Gerne unterstützen wir studentische Kooperationsprojek-te, die von unseren Studierenden in Eigeninitiative gemeinsam mit ausländischen Kommili-tonen initiiert und durchgeführt werden.

Dazu gehört auch die europaweite Studierendenorganisation EESTEC „Electrical Engineer-ing Students‘ European Association“, für die ich gerne die Schirmherrschaft übernehme. Sie ist zurzeit an 53 Universitäten in 28 Ländern vertreten und zählt mittlerweile rund 6000 Mitglieder. In Workshops entwickeln diese ihre akademischen Fähigkeiten und Soft Skills weiter und tauschen sich über die Landesgrenzen hinweg aus.

Mit dem EESTEC OpenDay organisiert die Arbeitsgruppe EESTEC der Fachschaft Elektro-technik und Informationstechnik ein wertvolles Kooperationsprojekt. Durch dieses Event bekommen angehende Ingenieure die Möglichkeit, sich einerseits beruflich zu orientieren und andererseits Erfahrung im interkulturellen Austausch zu sammeln. Als Präsident der TU München begrüße ich diese Initiative nachdrücklich und danke der notwendigen Un-terstützung von außen, die EESTEC zu dem macht, was es sein soll: ein fruchtbarer in-ternationaler Austausch, bei dem sich neues kreatives Potential aus der interkulturellen Begegnung junger, voranstrebender Akademiker entwickelt. Den Organisatoren danke ich für ihr zielstrebiges Engagement und wünsche weiterhin viel Erfolg. Wir sind stolz auf unsere Studierenden, die als Botschafter der TU München weit über die Landesgrenzen hinaus wirken. TUM: Invented in Germany, successful in the world!

Das ist nicht nur für das Münchner Organisationsteam, sondern auch für München als hochrangigen Standort der Informations- und Elektrotechnik ein ganz besonderes Ereignis: Zum ersten Mal findet hier der Jahreskongress der Electrical Engineering Students’ Europe-an Association statt, und damit feiert auch der EESTEC OpenDay seine München-Premiere. Beides steht ganz im Zeichen der internationalen Begegnung – ein Vorzug, der gerade auch die Studentenkontaktmesse OpenDay für alle Beteiligten zu einem höchst attraktiven und lohnenden Informations-, Kommunikations- und Kontaktforum macht: für die Universitäten und Unternehmen, die sich hier dem akademischen Nachwuchs vorstellen können, ebenso wie für die Studierenden, ob sie sich nun für eine Arbeits-, Praktikums- oder Werkstuden-tenstelle,

für Studienangebote oder Fortbildungsmöglichkeiten interessieren oder sich mit eu-ropäischen Hochschülerinnen und Hochschülern einfach nur austauschen wollen. Sie alle können vom EESTEC OpenDay nur profitieren.

Und was dabei den Veranstaltungsort betrifft: Sowohl die TUM als deutsche Exzellenz-Uni-versität wie auch München als führende deutsche Hochschul- und Wirtschaftsmetropole mit ihrem Flair der Weltoffenheit bieten dafür den perfekten Rahmen. Wie schon dem EESTEC Congress 2013 wünsche ich daher auch dem OpenDay einen vollen Erfolg und heiße alle Gäste dazu in München herzlich willkommen!

Dear participants of the EESTEC Congress 2013, welcome in Munich and welcome at the Technische Universität München. Technische Universität München (TUM) is one of Europe’s top universities. It is committed to excellence in research and teaching, interdisciplinary education and the active promotion of promising young scientists. As one of the most innovative insti-tutions of higher education in Germany, TUM is dedicated to generating and communicating highly specialised research and to providing excellent academic education. TUM has three major locations in Bavaria: Munich, Garching, and Freising-Weihenstephan. TUM also has an international footprint – with campuses and offices on three continents.

At present, TUM offers 156 different academic programmes, spanning 13 faculties with 478 professors, 32000 students and over 9000 staff members. TUM has institutionalised links to 160 foreign partner universities all over the world and is steadily extending international ex-change of students, teaching staff and ideas.

Among the largest faculties of TUM is the Faculty for Electrical Engineering and Information Technology with 40 professors, 2600 students and over 400 staff members. The size and diver-sity of our department allows to offer almost any direction in research and education and with more than 30% international students our department ideally contributes to the international profile of our university.

The EESTEC Congress perfectly matches the faculty’s international attitude and marks a high-light for our students in this academic year. The OpenDay event will offer great opportunities for all students on the campus to learn about the academic programs of other universities, their socal life and traditions. Another highlight of the fair is a bilingual part where students meet com-panies and companies meet students in a stimulating environment for initiating fruitful contacts.

I am grateful to the EESTEC organisation for choosing TUM as the place for this years EESTEC Congress and I would like to thank all of you for particpating and for coming to Munich. My spe-cial thanks goes to the local committee which made a great job to make the congress real at TUM. I wish all of you a successful congress with fruitful meetings, discussions and decisions, with exciting seminars and experiences, new friendships and lots of fun.

Entwickelt wird eine konsequente Erweiterung des Abstandsregeltempomaten (Adaptive Cruise Control) unter Berücksichtigung der vorausliegenden Strecke und aktuellen Verkehrs-situationen. Das System beschleunigt das Fahrzeug selbständig, während der Fahrer die Len-kung betätigt. Über die gesamte Distanz ist der Fahrer vom Bedienen der Pedale entlastet, es sei denn er wünscht das System durch eigene Eingriffe zu überstimmen oder seine Reaktion wird gefordert. Hierzu wird der Fahrer im Voraus auf besondere Ereignisse aufmerksam ge-macht (Ampeln, Kreuzungen, Gefahrenstellen u.ä.), um das Fahrzeug übernehmen zu können.

Die innovative Fahrstrategie bietet eine intelligente und vorausschauende Fahrzeuglängsführung (Predictive Cruise Control), kennt die vorausliegende Strecke in Hinsicht auf Kurvenkrümmun-gen, Steigungsinformationen, Höhenprofilen und Geschwindigkeitsbegrenzungen und regelt das Fahrzeug hinsichtlich einer optimalen Längsbeschleunigung bezüglich Kraftstoffersparnis, gewünschter Dynamik und schneller Reisezeit. Durch eine Kopplung mit dem Abstandsregel-tempomaten wird auch der Mitverkehr berücksichtigt und das Fahrzeug reagiert auf Änderun-gen in der Verkehrssituation.

Das Assistenzsystem bietet in seiner Umsetzung einen Effizienzgewinn, ohne Verlust von Reise-zeit bei komfortabler Fahrweise. Durch Vorausschau und zukünftige Einbindung von Car2X-In-formationen wird zudem eine Erhöhung der Fahrsicherheit geboten.

„Das Projekt zeichnet aus, dass über einen langen Horizont sehr effizient eine ganzheitliche Fahrstrategie im Voraus berechnet und im Fahrzeug umgesetzt wird. Es ist erstaunlich zu sehen, wie effizient man mit entsprechend weitsichtiger Vorausberechnung schneller und effizienter ans Ziel gelangen kann. Durch entsprechende Maßnahmen wird das Vertrauen des Fahrers gewonnen, er wird in seinen Fahraufgaben entlastet und erfährt zusätzlichen Komfort und Si-cherheit.“

About the University: Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH), was established in July 1973. Funfact: The designed of the campus used to look exactly like a gun, which is pointed to North direction, in other words to Russia, USSR of those times. Funfact: The most important event of NTUA’s history is the Athens Polytech-nic uprising on November 17, 1973, which was the first step to overthrow Greece’s military dictatorship. About the University: University of East Sarajevo’s independent, scientific, educational and art institution, which is composed of fifteen universities and two academies of art, founded by the Republic of Srpska. Since its founding, the University has turned to regional and international cooperation, with the goal of achieving equal partnership at all levels.

About the University: The University of Groningen (Dutch: Rijksuniversiteit Groningen), located in the city of Groningen, was founded in 1614. It is one of the oldest universities in the Netherlands as well as one of its largest. Since its inception more than 100,000 stu-dents have graduated. It is a member of the distinguished Coimbra Group. The University of Groningen has nine faculties, nine graduate schools, 27 research centres and institutes, and more than 175 degree programmes.

About the University: The University of Ljubljana possesses a rich tradition. It ranks as a very large university, with more than 51.000 graduate and postgraduate students Approximately 4000 higher education teachers are employed in the 3 arts academies and 23 faculties. The university was founded in 1919 on the basis of centuries of educational tradition, remaining the only Slovenian university for half a century. The University is based in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, a relatively large Central- European city with over 300.000 inhabitants. Students account for more than one-seventh of the population, giving the city a youthful and lively character. The university’s central office and the majority of schools are situated in the centre of Ljubljana.

About the University: The Faculty of Electrical Engineering was founded in 1961, and, since then, it has assumed various organizational forms. Today it is a unit of the University of Monte-negro with more than 2000 students pursuing undergraduate, graduate and doctoral studies in three study programs, two academic and one applied. Faculty of Electrical Engineering now offers three degree levels in the academic studies: Bachelor (BS), Master (MS) and Doctor (PhD), and two degrees in the applied studies: Bachelor (BApp) and Master (MApp). During the elapsed decades since its foundation, the Electrical Engineering grew into a respected and standard-setting institution in the Montenegro academic community, renowned for its teaching excellence and research results published in the leading world journals and conferences.

About the University: The University of Rijeka was founded in 1973 as a logical ex-pansion of higher education institutions in western Croatia whose roots date back to the 17th century when the Rijeka Jesuit gymnasium was established. From its founding it has undergone a series of transformations which were for the most part the result of changes brought on by the national higher education policies.

About the University: The University of Sarajevo (Bosnian: Univerzitet u Sarajevu/Универзитет у Сарајеву) is the largest and oldest university in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the second oldest institution of tertiary education in the ex-Yugoslav states. It was originally established in 1531 as an Ottoman Islamic law college; the university in its modern, secular in-carnation being established and effectively added to that in 1949.Today, with 23 faculties and around 50,000 enrolled students, it ranks among the largest universities in Europe in terms of enrollment. Since opening its doors in 1949, 122,000 students received bachelor’s degrees, 3,891 received master’s degrees and 2,284 received doctorate degrees in 45 different fields. It is now widely regarded as the most prestigious university in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Funfact: The Faculty collaborates with about 30 foreign and 15 Croatian academic institu-tions and is a part of Central European Exchange Program for University Studies (CEEPUS). The dynamic activity at the Faculty is evident from about 100 scientific-research projects of relevant ministries and from some ten projects financed by local government and economy, in which the Faculty has participated and is still participating.

Funfact: The first university in Bosnia-Herzegovina, originally established in 1543, with the modern university being reestablished in 1943.The University of Sa-rajevo enjoys partnerships with over 40 universities in Europe, the USA, Canada, and the Middle East, but we still have labs from 1970.-s and we haven’t seen yet the most things we learning about.

Funfact: There is a nice tradition. When a student graduates, is dressed in a funny or embarrassing way, is forced to walk dressed like that and have to read a long story written in rhyme by his friends with a bottle of wine attached to the hand while the other people throw him eggs, flour, ketchup and more. And all this in front of his family!

About the University: Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands, has been a renowned cultural, scientific and commercial centre for many centuries. It was here, in 1880, that VU University Amsterdam first opened its doors to students. VU stands for ‘Vrije Univer-siteit’ which means ‘Free University’. Here, ‘free’ refers to freedom from state and church interference. VU University Amsterdam was established in 1880 by orthodox protestants. Nowadays it aims to be inspiring, innovative and involved. Throughout the past century, the university has continued to expand. It now comprises twelve faculties and has teaching facilities for 26,000 students.

Funfact: Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing was firstly named “Electrotech-nical Faculty” and computers were added later.

Funfact: The logo of VU University Amsterdam depicts the griffin, a creature of myth and fable which can be traced back to some of the earliest artworks to emerge from the Near East. The griffin has the body of a lion and the head and the wings of an eagle. It was absorbed into the cultures of Ancient Greece and Rome, and also features in the history of Christianity.

Der “Open Day” wird organisiert von der internationalen Studentenorganisation Electrical Engineering Students’ European Association (EESTEC). EESTEC ist mit 53 lokalen Ablegern in 28 europäischen Ländern vertreten.

EESTEC setzt sich das Ziel, ein europaweites Netzwerk zwischen Studierenden, deren Universitäten und den Unternehmen in der Industrie aufzuspannen, die den Studierenden der Elektrotechnik sowie verwandter Studiengänge dabei hilft, bereits im Studium Kontakte aufzubauen, die für die zukünftige Karriere und Privatleben von großem Vorteil sind.

In München ist EESTEC durch unser lokales Komitee als Arbeitskreis der Fachschaft Elektrotechnik und Informationstechnik e.V. seit 1999 vertreten. Seitdem erfährt die lokale Gruppe ein stetiges Wachstum, das nun 2013 zur erstmaligen Organisation der jährli-chen Hauptversammlung und der damit verbundenen Firmenkontaktmesse “Open Day”.
