Layla Wallis began working at Manistee

County Library in 2015 as a Circulation

Clerk. She is always happy to help patrons,

whether they are signing up for a new library

card, making copies, or checking out big

stacks of books and DVDs to take home.

As an avid reader, Layla especially enjoys

processing new materials and sharing them

with patrons. Talking about what people are

reading is a great way to get to know people

and anticipate their needs. “Being surrounded

by books and people who love them makes it

easy to serve others with a smile. I’ve learned

so much by reading books; I love being able

to provide that experience for our patrons.”

When not working at

the library, Layla

spends time practic-

ing what she calls her

“Granny

Arts“ : tending her

veggie and flower

gardens, cooking

and canning, knitting

and sewing, and

going to bed really

early with a good book!
