Week 5 Unit 4: Data Segmentation (Part 1)

1 Purpose The purpose of this document is to guide the participants of the “Driving Business Results with Big Data” openSAP course through the system exercise. This user guide is designed to be used together with the openSAP instructional videos. Do NOT attempt to execute exercise without watching the videos first.

2 Preparation

2.1 Prerequisites The prerequisites to this exercise are that the course participants have valid Amazon Web Services (AWS) and SAP Cloud Appliance Library (CAL) accounts.

In case you do not have yet a valid account AWS or SAP CAL, you will find all steps needed for that on this page.

2.2 Links and system access information

All the log on and system information listed here is applicable to each participants’ own SAP CAL instance. The links are to be used on the Remote Desktop. These links will work only if you have your SAP CAL Instance activated.

For the Front-end Remote Desktop Connection use the IP address generated for the “Predictive Analytics RDS Frontend Internal IP Address” within your individual instance.

During this exercise you need to access SAP HANA Studio from the Remote Desktop:

Right-mouse click on the line highlighted in the image and select Logon.

User Id: SAPNWABAHDB

Password: Same as the master user when CAL instance created

3 Exercise Steps – Data Segmentation (Part 1) Exercise Description

Load a spreadsheet containing customer, order history and product data into HANA database

HANA modeling by creating as an attribute view

Consume the attribute view in Audience Discovery and Targeting

This screens seen in this guide might be slightly different from those visible in the course videos and the actual training system.

1. From the Quick Launch tab click on “Select System” and select the HANA system that has been just added From the Quick Launch tab -> click on Import

3. Select the file “customer_product_data.xlsx” from the folder C:\Users\SIDadm\Desktop\yMKT on the remote desktop

4. Select the worksheet “Customers”

5. Check “Header row exists” 6. Check “Import all data” 7. Select schema

“SAPNWABAHDB” 8. Type table name

“ZCEICUSTOMERS” 9. Click Next

10. Under Target Table mapping, select the first row i.e. CUSTOMER_ID change the data type to “NVARCHAR” and length to 10

11. Check the “Key” column to make it the primary key of this table

12. Click Next to see the preview of the data

13. Click Finish

14. Import job will be running for few seconds and it will be completed with success

You have successfully imported all the required data into the HANA system

25. In HANA studio, right click content from the navigator on the left side

26. Select Newpackage

27. Name the package as “zceidemo” and description will get auto populated click “OK”

28. Right click on the newly created package select New Attribute View

29. Name the attribute view as “ZCEIDEMOVIEW” and Description will automatically be filled Click Finish

30. Move the cursor to the data foundation area and a “+” sign appears Click on the “+” sign to add the tables that were created to the attribute view

31. Type “ZCEI” and hit enter to only get the tables that follow this format of naming

32. Select all the three tables(by holding the CTRL key) and click “OK”

33. To join the tables, drag “CUSTOMER_ID” from the ZCEICUSTOMERS table to ZCEIORDHIST table

34. Similarly, join the ZCEIORDHIST and ZCEIPRODUCTS tables via “PRODUCT_NO”

35. Change the relationship of “CUSTOMER_ID” join to Left Outer join, as some customers may not have orders but need to be included in the result set

36. Select all the fields(by holding the CTRL key) right click click “Add to Output”

37. Do the same for the remaining tables

39. Select the “CUSTOMER_ID” column and change Type to “Key Attribute”

40. Now the CUSOMER_ID becomes the key attribute

41. Click Save and validate the HANA view that you have just created Select your package “zceidemo” from the navigator pane right click click Activate

42. In case there is more content than “zceidemo” package in the Selected box, use Remove button in the middle to remove unnecessary object activation

43. Activate to deploy the active version of your newly created package to HANA system

44. After successful deployment, right click on the attribute view that you just created select “Data Preview” to view the data

45. For example: drag COUNTRY to Labels axis and QTY to Values axis to visualize the data in a chart Now you have successfully completed the HANA modeling. Next some configuration has to be done in order to make it visible in Audience Discovery and Targeting(ADT)
