Doyle Cruz made a motion to requestthe city manager Raymie Zella deter-mine the steps in closing the munici-pal airport at the March 25 meeting. All council members were in favor ofthe motion. The council discussed the use of the
former senior citizens building in themunicipal park for the Boys & GirlsClub of DeWitt County. The organiza-tion is not in operation yet but hopesto have the building ready for use be-fore the summer.Council members were given a list
of deficiencies of the building. Zellarequested action be taken so the citycould hire an architect to develop aplan to fix the deficiencies and deter-mine the cost of repairs. One deficiency of the building is the
need for a second exit to be added to alarge room in the building. The city’sbuilding inspector Kevin Harrell sug-gested limiting the amount of peoplethat are allowed in the room thatneeds an additional exit.
“There are ways to put off requiringthe second exit,” Harrell said.It would be the organization’s re-
sponsibility to control the amount ofoccupants allowed in the room.In addition, the building’s restrooms
are not up to code. Christi Fuchs,Boys & Girls Club president, said theorganization is considering the use ofportable toilets for short term use.The city would then consider addingthe construction of additional rest-rooms to next year’s budget.Council members also motioned to
hire an employee in the warehousedepartment. The position will be paidfor out of the electric, water andwastewater funds. The city was goingto hire for this position next year butwater inventory is ready to be movedthe warehouse. The March 2014 cleanup report was
given at the end of the meeting. Thecleanup was held March 3-8 inprecinct 1. Ninety one loads ofgarbage and 76 loads of brush werecollected by city and county crews.

SMOLIK’S QUALITY MEATS & BBQ
Are you totallyhonest with God?By GARY ANDREWS
Not long ago as I was study-ing my Sunday School les-son, the question came up“Have you ever felt comfort-able being totally honest withGod in prayer, even acknowl-edging your deepest fears?”The writer of this lesson was
expounding on the fears ofJacob as he and his familieswere returning to his home-land and would be facing hisestranged brother Esau.Twenty years earlier Jacob, whose name means trickster,
had deceived Esau out of hisbirthright and his blessingfrom his father Isaac. Ulti-mately Esau was upset andvowed to kill Jacob. It has been said that ab-
sence makes the heart growfonder. I have also heard andmaintained that being apartgives everyone a chance torealize and think about theproblems they have had withothers, and that being apart, sometimes, will heal manywounds.Finger pointing and retalia-
tion are quick responses andmany times the one reactingthe quickest is the one thatwill suffer the most. Even if
you have been wronged byyour brother in a dishonestand deceitful way, allow Godto control the situation, be-cause He is the one incharge. For the one that created the
problems and caused the hurtto his brother, God will bringchange to his heart and, hopefully, this brother will ac-cept responsibility and makethings right. Having a heavyheart knowing that we havewronged someone is worsethan facing the consequencesof that brother in the heat ofthe moment. When we are burdened with
a heavy heart is the time
when we go to our knees andtalk with the Lord. Even then, are we open and honest withGod, admitting our needs andour fears? All of us need torealize whether we are openand honest with God or not,He knows everything. Confes-sion relieves so much tensionand stress. The Bible speaks to us
through Leviticus 25:17: “Donot take advantage of eachother, but fear your God. I amthe Lord your God.”Jacob realized his needs
and fears and the Lord heardhis prayers. The time apartfrom Esau healed a lot ofwounds and the brothers
were reunited once again. The Lord will hear our
prayers also. Everyday weneed to get on our knees andtalk to Him and He will guideus. We need to be open andhear what the Lord tells us.Prayer: Thank you Lord for
your love and guidance. Ipraise you in all that I do andask that you be with me in allof my thoughts.
