Exhaust air connection

You can use the exhaust air setwhich can be obtained from

customer service or your localdealer (WTZl 130).

Also any products which arecommercially available can be usedfor the exhaust air duct:

- flexible tubes,

- galvanised sheet metal ducts ortubes,

- connection, transfer andby-pass adapters for use in flatduct or tubular ductingsystems,

- wall boxes for ventilation into

the open air or into an air shaft,

- adapters for rectangular ducts,

- rectangular ducts or plastictubesone-way flap.

1. To reduce the risk of fire, thisdryer MUST BE EXHAUSTEDOUTDOORS.

2. To reduce the risk of fire, do

not use the ductwork longerthan recommended.

3. DO NOT use a plastic ornon-metal duct with this dryer.

4. DO NOT use a duct smallerthan 4 inches in diameter.

5. DO NOT use exhaust hoods

with magnetic latches.

6. DO NOT exhaust the dryer intoa chimney, furnace cold airduct, attic, crawl space, or anyother ductwork used for

venting.

7. DO NOT install a flexible duct

in an enclosed wall, ceiling orfloor.

8. DO NOT crush or kink theduct.

9. Do clean and inspect theexhaust system on a regularbasis; at least once a year.

10. The exhaust duct mustterminate in a manner to

prevent back drafts or entry ofbirds or other wildlife.

The Bosch dryers are intended tobe vented outdoors. To preventbuild-up of moisture andaccumulation of lint indoors, as wellas to maintain maximum dryingefficiency, it is recommended thatthe dryer is vented outdoors.

[-_ Position the exhaust air duct so

that there is no counter-

pressure (e.g. from wind) on theexhaust outlet.

All materials must be

heat-resistant up to 80 °C and

humidity-resistant.

Ductwork

To ensure optimum performance, the ducting system of the dryershould be as short as possible witha minimum number of elbows. Your

dryer will work best when theventing system has as few air flowrestrictions as possible. Exhaustducting which is longer thanrecommended may extend dryingtime, cause lint to accumulate andaffect dryer performance and dryerlife-time.

Four-inch (approx. 100 mm)diameter ducting should be used.Use either rigid metal or flexiblemetal ducting material.DO NOT use plastic or non-metalduct with this dryer.DO NOT assemble the ductworkwith screws or fasteners that

extend into the duct. They will serveas an accumulation point for lint.Joints should be secured with duct

tape.

All joints should be tight to avoidleaks. The male end of each duct

section must point away from thedryer.Whether connecting to an existingventing system or a new ventingsystem, make sure that all ductingis clean and free of lint.

The maximum permitted length forboth rigid and flexible metal duct isshown in the table below.

RigidDuct FlexibleDuctNumberof90°Turnsor Elbows

0 66 ft, 45ft,(2011cm) (1372cm)

1 56 ft, 36ft,(1707cm) (1097cm)

2 48 ft, 29ft,(1463cm) (884cm)

3 39ft, 22ft,(1189cm) (671cm)

4 30ft, 16ft,(914cm) (488cm)

Note:Left-hand side exhaust installation

has a 90 ° turn inside the dryer. Todetermine maximum exhaust

length, add one 90° turn to thechart.

More than two 90 ° turns are notrecommended. For best

performance, separate all turns byat least 4 ft. of straight duct, including distance between last turnand exhaust hood.

Condensation outlet

If water from condensation builds

up in the exhaust air duct, it isrecommended that a condensation

collector (as commercially available)is fitted or that a drain hole of

approximately 3 mm in diameter isintroduced in the lowest section ofthe exhaust air duct.

Exhaust vent hood

The exhaust duct must end with an

approved exhaust vent hood withswing out damper(s). DO NOT usean exhaust vent hood with

magnetic latches.

To avoid exhaust restriction, theoutlet must be a minimum of

12 inches (30 cm) above groundlevel or any other obstructingsurface.

Required parts

The parts required for the exhaustair system (elbows, lines, exhaustair outlets) are not included instandard delivery of the dryer.

LaundryIdentificationof fabricsObserve the treatment symbols onthe textile labels. They providevaluable information as well as

limitations about the drying

process.

Do not dry the following textiles inthe dryer:

- Air-tight textiles(e,g. rubberized).

- Delicate fabrics (silk, syntheticcurtains).

Drying tipsIn principle, the following applies toall drying programs:

To ensure a uniform dryingresult, sort the laundryaccording to fabric type anddrying program.

- Fasten zippers, hooks andeyes. Fasten loose belts, apronstrings, etc..

- Do not overdry easy-carelaundry - risk of wrinkling!Leave laundry to dry in the air.

Do not iron laundry immediatelyafter drying. Place the laundryin a pile for a short while.Residual moisture will then be

distributed uniformly.

Knitted textiles (e.g. T-shirts,cotton jersey laundry) oftenshrink when dried for the first

time. Do not use the Verydry/Extra dry program.

Protectionof environmentTips on saving energy

To save energy, money and time,Bosch recommends the following:- Drain the laundry thoroughly!

Before drying, spin the laundrythoroughly in the washingmachine. Use the highestpossible spin speed for the typeof laundry! Higher spin speedsreduce the drying time and theenergy consumption.

- Use optimum load!Use maximum recommended

loads. However, do not exceedloads.

- Clean filter!Clean the filter before and after

each drying process(see page 17).

- Ventilate the room!

During the drying processprovide an adequate supplyof fresh air.

- Do not dry unsuitablematerials!

Do not dry rubberized orair-tight items.

- Do clean and inspect theexhaust system on a regularbasis!

Blockages may extend dryingtime.
