Operating modes

Do not flambé food directly under theextractor hood.

Risk of grease filter catching fire due! to flames.

❑ Before using your appliance for the firsttime, please read these Instructions forUse carefully. They contain importantinformation concerning your personalsafety as well as on use and care of theappliance.

❑ Please retain the operating andinstallation instructions for a subsequentowner.

The hotplates must always be coveredwith a utensil.

Restrictions apply to the use of theextractor hood over a solid-fuel burner(coal, wood, etc.). (See Installationinstructions).

Gas hobs / Gas cookers

Do not use all the gas hotplatessimultaneously for a prolonged period(max. 15 minutes) at maximum thermalload, otherwise there is a risk of burns ifthe housing surfaces are touched or a riskof damage to the extractor hood. If theextractor hood is situated over a gas hob, operate the hood at maximum setting ifthree or more gas hotplates are operatedsimultaneously.

Important notes:❑ The Instructions for Use apply to several

versions of this appliance. Accordingly, you may find descriptions of individualfeatures that do not apply to yourspecific appliance.

❑ This extractor hood complies with allrelevant safety regulations.Repairs should be carried out byqualified technicians only.Improper repairs may put the user atconsiderable risk.

Do not use the appliance if damaged.

The appliance may be connected tothe mains by a qualified technician only.

Do not allow children to play with theextractor hood! Adults and children mustnever operate the appliance unsupervised– if they are not physically or mentally

capable of doing so,– or if they do not have the knowledge

and experience to operate theappliance correctly and safely.

If the connecting cable for thisappliance is damaged, the cable must bereplaced by the manufacturer or his custo-mer service or a similarly qualified person inorder to prevent serious injury to the user.

Dispose of packaging materialsproperly (see Installation instructions).

This extractor hood is designed fordomestic use only.

Light bulbs must always be fittedwhen the extractor hood is in use.

Defective bulbs should be replacedimmediately to prevent the remaining bulbsfrom overloading.

Never operate the extractor hoodwithout a grease filter.

Overheated fat or oil can easily catchfire. If you are cooking with fat or oil, e.g. chips, etc., never leave the cooker unattended.

Exhaust-air mode:❑ The extractor-hood fan extracts the kit-

chen vapours and conveys themthrough the grease filter into the atmos-phere.

❑ The grease filter absorbs the solidparticles in the kitchen vapours.

❑ The kitchen is kept almost free of greaseand odours.

Circulating-air mode❑ An activated carbon filter must be fitted

for this operating mode (see Filters andmaintenance).Activated carbon filters can bepurchased from specialist outlets(see Optional accessories on the lastpage).

❑ The ventilator fan draws the vapoursproduced during cooking into theextractor hood, where they passthrough the grease filter and the activa-ted carbon filter before the clean air isdischarged back into the kitchen.

❑ The grease filter absorbs the greasecontained in the vapours producedduring cooking.

❑ The activated carbon filter absorbs anyodorous substances.

DWhen the extractor hood is operatedin exhaust-air mode simultaneouslywith a different burner which alsomakes use of the same chimney(such as gas, oil or coal-fired heaters,continuous-flow heaters, hot-water boi-lers) care must be taken to ensure thatthere is an adequate supply of freshair which will be needed by the burnerfor combustion.

Safe operation is possible provided that theunderpressure in the room where theburner is installed does not exceed 4 Pa(0.04 mbar). This can be achieved if combustion air canflow through non-lockable openings, e.g. indoors, windows and via the air-intake/exhaust-air wall box or by othertechnical measures, such as reciprocalinterlocking, etc.If the air intake is inadequate, there is arisk of poisoning from combustion gaseswhich are drawn back into the room.An air-intake/exhaust-air wall box by itselfis no guarantee that the limiting value willnot be exceeded.Note: When assessing the overallrequirement, the combined ventilationsystem for the entire household must betaken into consideration. This rule does notapply to the use of cooking appliances, such as hobs and ovens.Unrestricted operation is possible if theextractor hood is used in recirculatingmode – with activated carbon filter.

If no activated carbon filter is installed,it is not possible to bind the odoroussubstances in the cooking vapours.

Various types of grease filter can beused to absorb the grease contained inthe vapours produced during cooking.

Fleece grease filterThe filter mat is made from material that isitself virtually non-inflammable.Caution:As it becomes more and more saturatedwith grease however, the filter becomesincreasingly inflammable. The efficiency ofthe extractor hood can also be adverselyaffected.Important:Renewing the fleece filter at appropriateintervals prevents the possibility of itcatching fire as a result of a build-up ofheat, such as occurs when deep-fat fryingor roasting is taking place.

Renewing the fleece filter:❑ Under normal operating conditions

(1 to 2 hours per day), the fleece filterwill require replacing after 8 to 10weeks. Printed fleece filters must berenewed no later than when the colou-red printing has started to fade.

❑ Use only original replacement filters. In so doing you will ensure that safetyregulations are upheld and the extractorhood performs as effectively as possi-ble.

Disposing of the old fleece grease filter:Fleece grease filters do not contain any

pollutants. They can be composted anddisposed of as biodegradable waste.

Metal grease filterThe filter mat is made of non-combustiblemetal.Caution:As it becomes more and more saturatedwith grease, the filter also becomesincreasingly inflammable. The efficiency ofthe extractor hood can also be adverselyaffected.Important:Clean the metal grease filter at regularintervals.Cleaning the metal filter:Under normal operating conditions (1 to 2hours per day), the metal grease filter willrequire cleaning after 8 to 10 weeks.❑ The filter can be cleaned in a

dishwasher.This can however cause slightdiscoloration.

Installation Instructions:Important information

Exhaust-air mode

The exhaust air is discharged upwardsthrough a ventilation shaft or directlythrough the outside wall into the open.

D Exhaust air should neither be directedinto a smoke or exhaust flue that iscurrently used for other purposes, nor into ashaft that is used for ventilating rooms inwhich stoves or fireplaces are also located.Exhaust air may be discharged inaccordance with official and statutoryregulations only (e.g. national buildingregulations).Local authority regulations must beobserved when discharging air into smokeor exhaust flues that are not otherwise inuse.

DWhen the extractor hood is operatedin exhaust-air mode simultaneously witha different burner which also makes useof the same chimney (such as gas, oil orcoal-fired heaters, continuous-flow heaters,hot-water boilers) care must be taken toensure that there is an adequate supplyof fresh air which will be needed by theburner for combustion.Safe operation is possible provided that theunderpressure in the room where theburner is installed does not exceed 4 Pa(0.04 mbar). This can be achieved if the combustion aircan be replenished by being able to flowthrough non-closeable openings such as indoors, windows, wall ventilation boxes, or byalternative technical measures such as reci-procally shutting the other device off, etc.If the air intake is inadequate, there is arisk of poisoning from combustion gaseswhich are drawn back into the room.An air-intake/exhaust-air wall box by itself isno guarantee that the limiting value will notbe exceeded.Note: When assessing the overallrequirement, the combined ventilationsystem for the entire household must betaken into consideration. This rule does notapply to the use of cooking appliances, such as hobs and ovens. All legal requirements concerning thedischarge of exhaust air must be observed.Unrestricted operation is possible if theextractor hood is used in recirculating mode– with activated carbon filter.

The extractor hood should be fitted with aone-way flap for exhaust-air mode if there isnot already one installed in the exhaust-airpipe or wall box. If a one-way flap is notenclosed with the appliance, purchase onefrom a specialist outlet (see optional acces-sories on the last page).

Attaching the one-way flap❑ Insert the two lugs on the one-way flap

into the holes on the air-pipe connectoror air outlet and lock into position.

Before installing the one-way flap, ensu-re that the lettering or stamp is on the out-side.

Optimum performance of the extractorhood:❑ Short, smooth extraction pipe.❑ As few pipe bends as possible.❑ Largest possible pipe diameter (prefera-

bly 150 mm ø) and large pipe bends.❑ Round pipes:

We recommendfor single-motor model, inner diameter of at least 120 mmfor double-motor model.inner diameter of at least 150 mm

❑ Flat ducts must have an inner cross-section equivalent to round pipeswhich have an inner diameter of120/150 mm.120 mm l approx. 113 cm2

150 mm l approx. 177 cm2

❑ If pipe diameters differ: use sealingstrip.

❑ Ensure an adequate air supply forexhaust-air mode.

Pipe connectionExtractor hoods with 120 mm Ø airoutlet:100 mm Ø extraction pipe❑ Insert the reducing connector (see optio-

nal accessories on the last page) into theair-pipe connector and then attach theexhaust-air pipe.

120 mm Ø extraction pipe❑ Attach the exhaust-air pipe directly to

the air-pipe connector.
