An Overview on Fertilizer Industry

• Agriculture the backbone of Indian Economy still holds its relative importance for more than a billion peoples. The Government of India from time to time has taken considerable steps for the upliftment of Agriculture Sector.

• India is third largest producer and consumer of fertilizer, placed after USA and China. India being an agro-based economy is the fifth largest due to its fertilizer Industries. These industries plat vital role in bringing prosperity to the country.

• Indian fertilizer Industries has approximately 150 industries in its list. The first fertilizer plant was commissioned in 1976 by EID-Parry. Industry got its impetuous and boon after 1967 with the advent of Green revolution.
