    Safety considerationsTo gain full advantage of the air conditioner's functionsand to avoid malfunction due to mishandling, werecommend that you read this instruction manualcarefully before use.The precautions described herein are classified asWARNING and CAUTION. They both contain importantinformation regarding safety. Be sure to observe allprecautions without fail.

    Information classified as NOTE contains instructions toensure proper use of the equipment.After reading, keep this manual in a convenient place sothat you can refer to it whenever necessary. If theequipment is transferred to a new user, be sure also tohand over the manual.

    Be aware that prolonged, direct exposure to cool orwarm air from the air conditioner, or to air that is toocool or too warm can be harmful to your physicalcondition and health.

    When the air conditioner is malfunctioning (giving offa burning odour, etc.) turn off power to the unit andcontact your local dealer. Continued operation undersuch circumstances may result in a failure, electricshocks or fire hazards.

    Do not attempt to install or repair the air conditioneryourself. Improper workmanship may result in waterleakage, electric shocks or fire hazards. Pleasecontact your local dealer or qualified personnel forinstallation and maintenance work.

    Ask your dealer to perform servicing or repairswhenever necessary.Improper servicing or repairs may result in waterleaks, electric shock or fire.

    Do not place objects, including rods, your fingers,etc., in the air inlet or outlet. Injury may result due tocontact with the air conditioner's highspeed fanblades.

    Consult your local dealer regarding relocation andreinstallation of the air conditioner. Improperinstallation work may result in leakage, electricshocks or fire hazards.

    Do not use the air conditioner for purposes other thanthose for which it is intended. Do not use the airconditioner for cooling precision instruments, food,plants, animals or works of art as this may adverselyaffect the performance, quality and/or longevity of theobject concerned.

    To avoid oxygen depletion, ensure that the room isadequately ventilated if equipment such as a burneris used together with the air conditioner.

    Do not expose plants or animals directly to air flowfrom the unit as this may cause adverse effects.

    To avoid electric shocks, do not operate with wethands.

    Do not place burners or heaters in places exposed tothe air flow from the unit as this may impaircombustion of the burner or heater.

    Do not place flammable sprays or operate spraycontainers near the unit as this may result in fire.

    1 DISPLAY " " (SIGNAL TRANSMISSION)This lights up when a signal is being transmitted.

    2 DISPLAY " " " " " " " " " " (OPERATIONMODE)This display shows the current OPERATION MODE.

    3 DISPLAY " " (SET TEMPERATURE)This display shows the set temperature.

    4 DISPLAY " " (PROGRAMMED TIME)This display shows PROGRAMMED TIME of thesystem start or stop.

    5 DISPLAY " " (SWING FLAP)Refer to "AIR FLOW DIRECTION ADJUST" onpage 5.

    6 DISPLAY " " " " (FAN SPEED)The display shows the set fan speed.

    7 DISPLAY " " (INSPECTION/TEST OPERATION)When the INSPECTION/TEST OPERATIONBUTTON is pressed, the display shows the systemmode is in.

    8 ON/OFF BUTTONPress the button and the system will start. Press thebutton again and the system will stop.

    9 FAN SPEED CONTROL BUTTONPress this button to select the fan speed, HIGH orLOW, of your choice.

    10 TEMPERATURE SETTING BUTTONUse this button for SETTING TEMPERATURE(Operates with the front cover of the remote controllerclosed.)

    11 PROGRAMMING TIMER BUTTONUse this button for programming "START and/orSTOP" time. (Operates with the front cover of theremote controller opened.)

    12 TIMER MODE START/STOP BUTTONRefer to "TIMER MODE START/STOP" on page 6.

    13 TIMER RESERVE/CANCEL BUTTONRefer to "PROGRAMMING TIME" on page 6.

    14 AIR FLOW DIRECTION ADJUST BUTTONRefer to "AIR FLOW DIRECTION ADJUST" onpage 5.

    15 OPERATION MODE SELECTOR BUTTONPress this button to select OPERATION MODE.

    16 FILTER SIGN RESET BUTTONRefer to the section of MAINTENANCE in theoperation manual attached to the indoor unit.

    17 INSPECTION/TEST OPERATION BUTTONThis button is used only by qualified service personsfor maintenance purposes.

    This switch is readily used if the remote controllerdoes not work.

    19 RECEIVERThis receives the signals from the remote controller.

    20 OPERATING INDICATOR LAMP (Red)This lamp stays lit while the air conditioner runs. Itflashes when the unit is in trouble.

    21 TIMER INDICATOR LAMP (Green)This lamp stays lit while the timer is set.

    22 AIR FILTER CLEANING TIME INDICATOR LAMP (Red)Lights up when it is time to clean the air filter.

    23 DEFROST LAMP (Orange)Lights up when the defrosting operation has started.

    See figure 4, (cool/heat changeover switch)In a VRV system, the wireless remote controller can beused together with a cool/heat changeover switch.

    24 FAN/AIR CONDITIONING SELECTOR SWITCHSet the switch to " " (FAN) for FAN and " " (A/C) for HEAT or COOL.

    25 COOL/HEAT CHANGEOVER SWITCH

    Set the switch to " " (COOL) for COOL and " "(HEAT) for HEAT

    NOTE For the sake of explanation, allindications are shown on the display infigure 1 contrary to actual runningsituations.

    If the air filter cleaning time indicatorlamp lights up, clean the air filter asexplained in the operation manualprovided with the indoor unit.After cleaning and reinstalling the airfilter, press the filter sign reset buttonon the remote controller. The air filtercleaning time indicator lamp on thereceiver will go out.

    The defrost lamp will flash when thepower is turned on. This is not amalfunction.
