CPD Requirements
CPD is a continuing learning process that complements formal
undergraduate and postgraduate education and training. The Dental
Council’s Code pertaining to Professional Behaviour and Dental Ethics
states that all dentists have an obligation to maintain and update
their knowledge and skills through CPD.
The Dental Council recommends dentists complete and keep records
of at least 50 hours of CPD per year, at least 20 of which should be
verifiable CPD.
While the amount of CPD hours completed may vary from year to
year, dentists should complete at least 250 hours of CPD every five
years, of which a minimum of 100 hours should be verifiable CPD.
Planning to meet your CPD requirements:
Step 1 Make sure you understand the hours requirement
Step 2 Plan what CPD activities will meet the requirement
Step 3 Record your CPD

Delegate Feedback
"Dr Paul Tipton’s advanced restorative course has been excellent and very enjoyable. The
knowledge I have gained has been very useful in general practice and given me the confidence to
offer more private treatments. Paul also kindly took the time to help me with a few complex
treatment plans I had. I highly recommend doing this course! I feel like a better dentist after
doing it. Thank you very much!"
Dr Sheva Taghinejad
“Delivered much more than I expected! I feel the teaching by Paul Tipton is the best! I have had
and wish I had this foundation of knowledge from my undergraduate training.“
Dr Gareth Spiers
“I had the privilege this year of joining the Tipton training hands-on restorative dental course in
Dublin. The course is run by Dr Paul Tipton and organised by Mr Ralf Sanders. This course was set
out to be small and interactive. I remember enquiring as to the use of the course for myself
especially after completing PG in restorative and cosmetic dentistry. I have just begun my
restorative career and have always wanting to pursue a course that will guide me correctly so I
do not pick up bad habits. I do every sort of dentistry but never had appropriate guidance. I
spoke to Ralf at this time after hearing about this course in my post graduate training from my
fellow post graduates and he felt that I would not be disappointed. How right he was and the
first week of the course I was so very pleased and delighted to be a part of the member. It is a
hands-on course but with a thorough lecture initially to start with, enables us to perform
practical work to the best of our abilities. All current concepts and leading edge clinical know
how were revealed. Just the first week and it lifted up my confidence to a great level in my
practice. Dr Tipton’s training is one of the best courses, I have ever attended. The course was
intense but no room for boredom at all!!”
Dr Chandana Kalyan
“Paul Tipton course has helped me to deliver better care to all of my patients both NHS and
private as well as giving me greater confidence in treatment planning and tackling more
complex cases. It helped me identify potential problems. It has surely increased returns for
private patients.”
