WARNING. When using the unit, all safetyrules must be followed. Please read these instructions
before operating the unit in order to ensure the safety ofthe operator and any bystanders. Please keep theseinstructions for later use.
• Read the instructions carefully. Be familiar with the controls andproper use of the unit.
Do not operate this unit when tired, ill or under the influence ofalcohol, drugs or medication.
Children must not operate the unit. Teens must be accompaniedand guided by an adult.
All guards and safety attachments must be installed properlybefore operating the unit.
Inspect the unit before use. Replace damaged parts. Check forfuel leaks. Make sure all fasteners are in place and secure.Replace parts that are cracked, chipped, or damaged in anyway. Do not operate the unit with loose or damaged parts.
Only use the trimming line described in the Specifications sectionof this manual. Never use metal-reinforced line, wire, chain orrope. These can break off and become dangerous projectiles.
Do not replace the cutting head with rigid or metal blades. Doingso could result in serious injury.
Be aware of risk of injury to the head, hands and feet.
Carefully inspect the area before starting the unit. Removerocks, broken glass, nails, wire, string and other objects thatmay be thrown or become entangled with the unit.
Clear the area of children, bystanders and pets; keep themoutside a 50-foot (15 m) radius, at a minimum. Even then, they arestill at risk from thrown objects. Encourage bystanders to weareye protection. If you are approached, stop the unit immediately.
Squeeze the throttle control and check that it returnsautomatically to the idle position. Make all adjustments orrepairs before using the unit.
This unit is intended for occasional, household use only.
SAFETY WARNINGS FOR GAS UNITS
WARNING: Gasoline is highly flammable andits vapors can explode if ignited. Take the followingprecautions:
Store fuel only in containers specifically designed and approvedfor the storage of such materials.
Always stop the engine and allow it to cool before filling thetank. Never remove the fuel tank cap or add fuel when theengine is hot. Always loosen the fuel tank cap slowly to relieveany pressure in the tank before fueling.
Always mix and add fuel in a clean, well-ventilated outdoor areawhere there are no sparks or flames. DO NOT smoke.
Never operate the unit without the fuel cap securely in place.
Avoid creating a source of ignition for spilled fuel. Wipe up anyspilled fuel from the unit immediately, before starting the unit.Move the unit at least 30 ft. (9.1 m) from the fueling source andsite before starting the engine. DO NOT smoke.
Never start or run the unit inside a closed room or building.Breathing exhaust fumes can kill. Operate this unit only in a wellventilated outdoor area.

WHILE OPERATING
Wear safety glasses or goggles that meet current ANSi / ISEAZ87.1 standards and are marked as such. Wear ear/hearingprotection when operating this unit. Wear a face mask or dustmask if the operation is dusty.
Wear heavy long pants, boots, gloves and a long sleeve shirt. Donot wear loose clothing, jewelry, short pants, sandals or gobarefoot. Secure hair above shoulder level.
The cutting head shield must always be in place while operatingthe unit. Do not operate the unit without both trimming linesextended and the proper line installed. Do not extend thetrimming line beyond the length of the shield.
The cutting head should remain stationary when the engineidles. If it does not, refer to Adjusting the Idle Speed.
Adjust the handle to provide the best grip, if applicable.
Make sure the attachment is not in contact with anything beforestarting the unit.
Use the unit only in daylight or good artificial light.
Avoid accidental starting. Be in the starting position wheneverpulling the starter rope. The operator and unit must be in a stableposition while starting. Refer to Starting and Stopping.
Use the right tool. Only use this tool for its intended purpose.
Always hold the unit with both hands when operating. Keep afirm grip on both handles or grips.
Do not overreach. Always keep proper footing and balance. Takeextra care when working on stairs, steep slopes or inclines. Toavoid serious injury, do not operate the unit while on a ladder ora roof.
Keep hands, face, and feet away from all moving parts. Do nottouch or try to stop moving parts.
Do not touch the engine, gear housing or muffler. These parts getextremely hot from operation, even after the unit is turned off.
Do not operate the unit faster than the speed needed to do the job.Do not run the unit at high speed when not in use.
Do not force the unit. It will do a better, safer job when used atthe intended rate.
Always stop the unit when operation is delayed or when walkingfrom one location to another.
Before setting the unit down, always make sure the engine is offand all moving parts have stopped.
If you strike or become entangled with a foreign object, stop theunit immediately and check for damage. Do not operate the unitbefore repairing damage. Do not operate the unit with loose ordamaged parts.
Turn the engine to off and disconnect the spark plug formaintenance or repair.
Use only original equipment manufacturer (OEM) replacementparts and accessories for this unit. Use of any other parts oraccessories could lead to serious injury to the user, or damageto the unit, and void the warranty.
Keep the unit clean. Carefully remove vegetation and otherdebris that could block moving parts.
To reduce fire hazard, replace a faulty muffler and spark arrestor.Keep the engine and muffler free from grass, leaves, excessivegrease or carbon build up.
If the unit starts to vibrate abnormally, stop the unit immediately.Inspect the unit for the cause of the vibration. Vibration isgenerally an indicator of trouble.
OTHER SAFETY WARNINGS
• Maintain the unit with care.
All service, other than the maintenance procedures described inthis manual, should be performed by a Sears or other qualifiedservice dealer.
Never remove, modify or make inoperative any safety devicefurnished with the unit.
Before inspecting, servicing, cleaning, storing, transporting orreplacing any parts on the unit:
1. Stop the unit.
2. Make sure all moving parts have stopped.3. Allow the unit to cool.
4. Disconnect the spark plug wire.
Secure the unit while transporting.
Never store the unit with fuel in the tank, inside a building wherefumes may reach an open flame (pilot lights, etc.) or sparks(switches, electrical motors, etc.).
Store the unit in a dry place, secured or at a height to preventunauthorized use or damage. Keep the unit out of the reach ofchildren.
Never douse or squirt the unit with water or any other liquid.Keep handles dry and clean (free from debris, oil and grease).Clean the unit after each use. Refer to Cleaning and Storage. Donot use solvents or strong detergents.
Keep these instructions. Refer to them often and use them toinstruct other users. If you loan this unit to others, also loanthem these instructions.

iNSTALLiNG THE CUTTING HEAD SHIELD
_ WARNING: To prevent serious personal injury, never ]operate the unit without the cutting head shield in place.
1. Place the cutting head shield onto the mount bracket. Align theholes in the cutting head shield with the holes in the mountbracket. (Fig. 1)
Screw the 2 screws through the mount bracket and into thecutting head shield until finger tight.
Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, tighten the screws until thecutting head shield is firmly in place. Tighten the screws equally.The gap between the mount bracket and the cutting head shieldshould be the same on each side.

iNSTALLiNG AND ADJUSTING THE HANDLE
installing the Handle
1. Push the handle down onto the shaft housing (Fig. 2). The bolthole in the handle should be to the right.
2. Insert the bolt into the bolt hole and push it through (Fig. 2).Tighten the bolt with a 3/8" socket, but do not tighten the boltcompletely.
3. While holding the unit in the operating position (Fig. 10), movethe handle to the location that provides the best grip. Place it aminimum of 6 inches (15.24 cm) from the end of the shaft grip(Fig. 2).
4. Tighten the bolt with a 3/8" socket until the handle is secure.
Adjusting the Handle
If the handle requires adjustment:
1. Loosen the bolt with a 3/8" socket (Fig. 2).
2. While holding the unit in the operating position (Fig. 10), movethe handle to the location that provides the best grip. Place it aminimum of 6 inches (15.24 cm) from the end of the shaft grip(Fig. 2).
3. Tighten the bolt with a 3/8" socket until the handle is secure.

OPERATING THE COUPLER
The coupler enables the use of various optional attachments.
Installing the Attachment
1. Remove the cap from the attachment. If present, remove thegray spacer from the coupler.
2. Set the unit on a flat, level surface.
3. Turn the knob counterclockwise to loosen the coupler (Fig. 3).
4. Align the release button with the guide recess (Fig. 5).
5. Push the attachment straight into the coupler (Fig. 4) until therelease button snaps firmly into the primary hole (Fig. 5).
6. Turn the knob clockwise to tighten the coupler (Fig. 3).
CAUTION: Before operating the unit, make sure therelease button is fully snapped into the primary hole and theknob is securely tightened.
CAUTION: Unless specified otherwise, the release
button should be snapped into the primary hole only. Usingthe wrong hole could lead to personal injury or damage tothe unit.
Removing the Attachment
1. Set the unit on a flat, level surface.
2. Turn the knob counterclockwise to loosen the coupler (Fig. 3).
3. Press and hold the release button (Fig. 5).
4. Pull the attachment straight out of the coupler (Fig. 4).

OiL AND FUEL MiXiNG iNSTRUCTiONS FUELING THE UNiT
The use of old and/or improperly mixed fuel is the most common causeof performance problems. Use only fresh, clean unleaded gasoline.Follow the instructions carefully for the proper gasoline/oil mixture.
Definition of Blended Fuels
Today's fuels are often a blend of gasoline and oxygenates such asethanol, methanol or MTBE (ether). Alcohol-blended fuel absorbswater. As little as 1% water in the fuel can make fuel and oilseparate, forming acids when stored. ALWAYS use fresh fuel (lessthan 30 days old).
NOTE: Dispose of old fuel according to federal, state and localregulations.
Using Blended Fuels
If using a blended fuel:
• Always use the fresh fuel mix explained in your operator's manual
Use the fuel additive STA-BIL® or an equivalent
Always agitate the fuel mix before fueling the unit
Drain the tank and run the engine dry before storing the unit

has been proven that fuel containing greater than 10% ]ethanol will likely damage this engine and void the warranty.
Using Fuel Additives
The bottle of 2-cycle oil provided with this unit contains a fueladditive to help inhibit corrosion and minimize gum deposits.Always use the brand of 2-cycle oil that came with this unit. If this isunavailable, use a 2-cycle oil designed for air-cooled engines andmix it with a fuel additive, such as STA-BIL Fuel Stabilizer or anequivalent. Add 0.8 oz. (23 ml) of fuel additive per gallon of fuel,according to the instructions on the container. NEVER add fueladditives directly to the unit's fuel tank.
WARNING: Gasoline is extremely flammable, ignitedvapors may explode. Always stop the engine and allow itto cool before filling the fuel tank. Do not smoke whilefilling the tank. Keep sparks and open flames at a distancefrom the area.
WARNING: Remove the fuel cap slowly to avoid injuryfrom fuel spray. Never operate the unit without the fuel capsecurely in place.
WARNING: Add fuel in a clean, well ventilated outdoorarea. Wipe up any spilled fuel immediately. Avoid creatinga source of ignition for spilled fuel. Do not start the engineuntil fuel vapors dissipate.
1. Position the unit with the fuel cap facing up.
2. Remove the fuel cap.
3. Place the fuel container spout into the fill hole on the fuel tankand fill the tank.
NOTE: Do not overfill the tank.
4. Wipe up any fuel that may have spilled.
5. Reinstall the fuel cap.
6. Move the unit at least 30 ft. (9.1 m) from the fuel container andthe fueling site before starting the engine.
Mixing the Fuel
NOTE: This unit comes with a 3.2 oz. (95 ml) bottle of 2-cycle oil. Toobtain the correct fuel mixture described below, pour the entirebottle into one gallon of unleaded gasoline.
CAUTION: For proper engine operation and maximumreliability, pay strict attention to the gasoline and oil mixinginstructions on the 2-cycle oil bottle. Using improperlymixed fuel can severely damage the engine.
Thoroughly mix the proper ratio of unleaded gasoline with 2-cycleengine oil. Do not mix them directly in the unit's fuel tank. Use aseparate fuel can. Use a 40:1 gasoline/oil ratio. See the table belowfor specific gasoline and oil mixing ratios.

I_ I WARNING: Operate this unit only in a well-ventilated!outdoor area. Carbon monoxide exhaust fumes can belethal in a confined area.
[_J WARNING: Avoid accidentally starting the unit. To avoidserious injury, the operator and the unit must be in a stable 1position when pulling the starter rope (Fig. 9).
STARTING iNSTRUCTiONS
1. Mix gasoline with oil. Refer to Oil and Fuel Mixing Instructions.
2. Fill the fuel tank. Refer to Fueling the Unit.NOTE: There is no need to turn the unit on. The On/Off switch is in
the ON (I) position at all times (Fig. 6).
3. Slowly press and release the primer bulb 10 times (Fig. 7). If fuelcannot be seen in the primer bulb, press and release the primerbulb until fuel is visible.
4. Flip the choke lever clockwise until it clicks (Fig. 8).
5. Crouch in the starting position (Fig. 9).
6. DO NOT squeeze the throttle control (Fig. 6). Pull the starterrope with a controlled and steady motion until the unit starts(Fig. 9).
NOTE: This unit uses the INCREDI-PULL TM starting system, whichsignificantly reduces the effort required to start the engine.
7. Idle the engine for 5 to 10 seconds. If the unit stops during thistime, squeeze the throttle control and pull the starter rope in acontrolled and steady motion until the unit starts.
8. Squeeze and hold the throttle control. Allow the engine to warmup for 30 to 60 seconds.
NOTE: The engine is properly warmed up when it accelerateswithout hesitation.
IF... the engine does not start, begin the starting procedure withstep 3.
IF... the unit is hot and fails to start within 3 pulls of the starter rope,squeeze the throttle control and pull the starter rope with acontrolled and steady motion until the unit starts.

1. Release the throttle control and allow the engine to idle.
2. Press and hold the On/Off switch in the OFF (O) position untilthe engine comes to a complete stop (Fig. 6).

HOLDING THE UNiT

contact with the engine while operating the unit. The !engine may be extremely hot.
• Stand in the operating position (Fig. 10). Stand up straight. Donot bend over.
Keep feet apart and firmly planted.
Hold the shaft grip with the right hand. Keep the right armslightly bent.
Hold the handle with the left hand. Keep the left arm straight.Hold the unit at waist level.
Position the cutting head a few inches above the ground.

TiPS FOR BEST RESULTS
= To direct clippings away from the operator, tilt the cutting headslightly down to the left; cut from right to left whenever possible.
Do not trim wet grass or weeds.
NOTE: Some line breakage will occur from:
Entanglement with foreign matter
Normal line fatigue
Attempting to cut thick vegetation
Forcing the line into objects such as walls or fence posts
DECORATIVE TRiMMiNG
When trimming around trees, posts, fences, etc., rotate the wholeunit so that the cutting head is at a 30 ° angle to the ground (Fig. 11).

EDGING
The trimmer attachment can be used for edging (Fig. 12).Alternatively, bladed lawn edger attachments can also be purchasedfor use with this unit.
Rotating the Trimmer Attachment

damage to the unit, shut the unit off before rotating the 1attachment.
When edging around sidewalks, flowerbeds, etc., rotate the trimmerattachment 90° inside the coupler. DO NOT rotate the entire unit 90 °.
1. Turn the knob counterclockwise to loosen the coupler (Fig. 3).Refer to Operating the Coupler in the Assembly section.
2. Press and hold the release button (Fig. 5).
3. Rotate the attachment until the release button snaps firmly intothe 90° edging hole (Fig. 13).
4. Turn the knob clockwise to tighten the coupler (Fig. 3).
CAUTION: Only snap the release button into the 90°edging hole when edging with the trimmer attachment.Using the 90 ° edging hole with other attachments couldlead to personal injury or damage to the unit.
Maintaining the Trimming Line
Hard surfaces, such as sidewalks, can cause the trimming line towear down quickly or break.
• Frequently check the trimming line length. Replace the trimmingline as needed. Refer to Replacing the Trimming Line.
DO NOT force the unit. Make shallow cuts in as many passes as arenecessary to achieve the desired depth. Cut at a slow, even pace.

REPLACING THE TRiMMiNG LiNE
Only use the trimming line described in the Specifications section.Other types of trimming line may cause the unit to overheat or fail.

rope. These can break off and become dangerous projectiles. J1. Remove the old line from the cutting head. Push one end of the
trimming line into the cutting head until a loop of line protrudesfrom the head. Pull the loop to remove the line.
2. Use a clean cloth to clean the surface of the cutting head.
3. Insert the ends of the new trimming line into the holes in thecutting head (Fig. 14). Push the line through the holes until bothends protrude from the positioning tunnels (Fig. 15).
4. Pull the ends of the line until the line is tight against the cuttinghead. Make sure the ends of the line are of equal length (Fig. 16).If one end is longer than the other, push the longer end backthrough the cutting head partway and pull the shorter end out. Ifnecessary, repeat this process until both ends are of equal length.
5. Press the exposed loop of trimming line until it is tight againstthe cutting head (Fig. 16).

MAiNTAiNiNG THE AiR FILTER

Failure to maintain the air filter can result in poor performance orcan cause permanent damage to the engine. Engine failure due toimproper air filter maintenance is not covered by the product warranty.
Cleaning the Air Filter
1. Open the air filter cover: press in the lock tab and swing the airfilter cover to the right (Fig. 17).
2. Remove the air filter from inside the air filter cover (Fig. 17).
3. Wash the air filter in detergent and water. Rinse the air filterthoroughly and allow it to dry.
4. Lightly coat the air filter with clean SAE 30 oil.
5. Squeeze the air filter to spread and remove excess oil.
6. Reinstall the air filter inside the air filter cover (Fig. 17).
NOTE: Operating the unit without the air filter and air filter cover willVOID the warranty.
7. Close the air filter cover: swing the air filter cover to the left andpress it closed until the lock tab snaps into place (Fig. 17).

ADJUSTING THE iDLE SPEED
_ ARNING: The cutting head may spin during idle speed_adjustments. Wear protective clothing and observe all Jsafety instructions to prevent serious personal injury.
If the engine will not idle properly:
1. Drain the fuel tank and add fresh, properly-mixed fuel. Refer toOil and Fuel.
2. Clean the air filter. Refer to Maintaining the Air Filter.
If the engine still will not idle properly, adjust the idle speed:
1. Start the engine. Refer to Starting and Stopping.
2. Release the throttle control and let the engine idle.
• If the engine stops, increase the idle speed. Use a smallPhillips screwdriver to turn the idle speed screw clockwise,1/8 of a turn at a time, until the engine idles smoothly (Fig. 18).
If the cutting head spins when the engine idles, reduce the idlespeed. Turn the idle speed screw counterclockwise, 1/8 of aturn at a time, until the cutting head stops moving (Fig. 18).
If the engine still will not idle properly, and any of the followingconditions are true, take the unit to a Sears or other qualified servicedealer:
the engine hesitates or stalls on acceleration
there is a loss of engine power

MAiNTAiNiNG THE SPARK PLUG
1. Stop the engine and allow it to cool. Grasp the spark plug bootfirmly and pull it from the spark plug.
2. Clean around the spark plug. Remove the spark plug from thecylinder head with a 5/8-inch socket, turning counterclockwise.
I _ib ! WARNING: Do not sand blast, scrape or clean spark plug Ielectrodes. Grit in the engine could damage the cylinder.
3. Inspect the spark plug. If the spark plug is cracked, fouled ordirty, replace it with replacement part #753-06193, a ChampionRDJ7J or an equivalent spark plug.
4. Use a feeler gauge to set the air gap at 0.025 in. (0.635 ram}(Fig. 19).
5. Install the spark plug in the cylinder head. Tighten the spark plugwith a 5/8-inch socket, turning it clockwise until snug.
NOTE: If using a torque wrench, torque to:
110=120 in.olb. (12.3=13.5 Nora). Do not over tighten.
6. Reattach the spark plug boot.

CLEANING STORAGE

Use a small brush to clean the outside of the unit. Do not use strongdetergents. Household cleaners that contain aromatic oils such aspine and lemon, and solvents such as kerosene, can damageplastic. Wipe off any moisture with a soft cloth.
• Never store a fueled unit where fumes may reach an open flameor spark.
Allow the engine to cool before storing.
Lock up the unit to prevent unauthorized use or damage.
Store the unit in a dry, well-ventilated area.Store the unit out of the reach of children.
Short-term Storage (1-2 weeks)
1. Store the unit in a horizontal position. If this is not possible, storethe unit vertically with the engine at the top.
Long-term Storage
1. Remove the fuel cap, tip the unit and drain the fuel into anapproved container. Reinstall the fuel cap.
2. Start the engine and allow it to run until it stalls. This ensuresthat all fuel has been drained from the carburetor.
3. Allow the engine to cool. Remove the spark plug and put 5drops of any high-quality motor oil or 2-cycle oil into thecylinder. Pull the starter rope slowly to distribute the oil. Reinstallthe spark plug.
4. Thoroughly clean the unit and inspect it for any loose ordamaged parts. Repair or replace damaged parts and tightenloose screws, nuts or bolts.
Preparing the Unit for Use after Long-term Storage
1. Remove the spark plug and drain all of the oil from the cylinder.
NOTE: Do not use fuel that has been stored for more than 30 days.Dispose of old fuel according to federal, state and local regulations.

DURANTE LA OPERACI(_N
Utilice anteojos o antiparras de seguridad que cumplan con lasnormas ANSI / ISEA Z87.1 vigentes y que tengan laidentificaci6n correspondiente. Utilice una protecci6n auditiva aloperar esta unidad. Utilice una mascara facial o para polvos si lamaquina levanta polvo durante su funcionamiento.
Use pantalones largos y gruesos, botas, guantes y camisa demangas largas. No use ropa holgada, alhajas, pantalonescortos, sandalias ni ande descalzo. Sujetese el cabello a nivel delos hombros.
El protector del cabezal de corte siempre debe estar colocadomientras se opera la unidad. No utilice la unidad si no estanextendidos ambos hilos de recorte y si no esta instalado el hiloadecuado. No extienda el hilo de recorte mas alia de la Iongituddel protector.
El cabezal de corte debe permanecer fijo cuando el motorfunciona al ralenti. Si no funciona, consulte Ajuste de lavelocidad de ralentL
Ajuste la manija para que brinde el mejor agarre, si corresponde.
Compruebe que el accesorio no este en contacto con nadaantes de poner en marcha la unidad.Use la unidad solamente con luz de dia o con una buena luz artificial.

INSTALACK_N DEL PROTECTOR DEL CABEZAL DE CORTE
_ ADVERTENClA: Para evitar lesiones personales ]graves, no opere nunca la unidad sin el protector delcabezal de corte colocado.
1. Coloque el protector del cabezal de corte en el soporte demontaje. Alinee los orificios del protector del cabezal de cortecon los del soporte de montaje. (Fig. 1)
2. Enrosque los 2 tornillos en el soporte de montaje y el protectordel cabezal de corte apretandolos con la mano.
3. Apriete los tornillos con un destornillador Phillips #2 hasta que elprotector quede firme en su lugar. Apriete los tornillos con lamisma presi6n. La separaci6n entre el soporte de montaje y elprotector del cabezal de corte debera ser la misma a cada lado.

INSTALACION Y AJUSTE DE LA MANIJA
Instalaci6n de la manija
1. Oprima la manija hacia abajo sobre el alojamiento del eje (Fig. 2).El orificio del perno de la manija debe quedar a la derecha.
2. Inserte el perno en el orificio del perno y oprimalo para que pasea traves de 61 (Fig. 2). Apriete el perno con una Ilave tubular de3/8" pero no apriete por completo.
3. Mientras sujeta la unidad en la posici6n de funcionamiento(Fig. 10), desplace la manija hasta la ubicaci6n que le ofrece elmejor agarre. Ubiquela como minimo a 6 pulgadas (15.24 cm)del extreme de la empudadura del eje (Fig. 2).
4. Apriete el perno con una Ilave tubular de 3/8" hasta que lamanija este segura.
Ajuste de la manija
Si la manija requiere ajustes:
1. Afloje el perno con una tubular de 3/8" (Fig. 2).
2. Mientras sujeta la unidad en la posici6n de funcionamiento(Fig. 10), desplace la manija hasta la ubicaci6n que le ofrece elmejor agarre. Ubiquela como minimo a 6 pulgadas (15.24 cm)del extremo de la empudadura del eje (Fig. 2).
3. Apriete el perno con una Ilave tubular de 3/8" hasta que lamanija este segura.

FUNCIONAMIENTO DEL ACOPLADOR
El acoplador permite el use de varies accesorios opcionales.
Instalaci6n del accesorio
1. Quite la tapa del accesorio. De estar presente, extraiga elespaciador gris del acoplador.
2. Coloque la unidad en una superficie plana y nivelada.
3. Gire la perilla en el sentido contrario alas agujas del reloj paraaflojar el acoplador (Fig. 3).
4. Alinee el bot6n de liberaci6n con el embutimiento de la guia (Fig. 5).
5. Presione el accesorio directamente dentro del acoplador (Fig. 4)hasta que el bot6n de liberaci6n encaje a presi6n firmemente delorificio principal (Fig. 5).
6. Gire la perilla en el sentido de las agujas del reloj para apretar elacoplador (Fig. 3).
PRECAUCION: Antes de utilizar esta unidad,asegOrese de que el bot6n de liberaci6n entre a presi6ncompletamente dentro del orificio principal y que la perillaquede bien ajustada.
PRECAUClON: Este bot6n de liberaci6n debe
colocarse a presi6n solamente en el orificio principal amenos que se especifique Io contrario. Si se utiliza unorificio equivocado, se podrian producir lesionespersonales o dar_os a la unidad.
Extracci6n del accesorio
1. Coloque la unidad en una superficie plana y nivelada.
2. Gire la perilla en el sentido contrario alas agujas del reloj paraaflojar el acoplador (Fig. 3).
3. Oprima y mantenga apretado el bot6n de liberaci6n (Fig. 5).

INSTRUCCIONES PARA MEZCLAR EL ACEITE Y ELCOMBUSTIBLE
El uso de un combustible viejo y/o mal mezclado es la causa mascomQn de problemas de funcionamiento. Utilice solamentegasolina fresca, limpia y sin plomo. Siga atentamente lasinstrucciones para mezclar adecuadamente el aceite/combustible.
Definici6n de combustibles mezclados
Los combustibles actuales son con frecuencia una mezcla degasolina e hidrocarburos oxigenados como el etanol, metanol oMTBE (eter). El combustible mezclado con alcohol absorbe agua.Un 1% de agua es suficiente para separar la mezcla de aceite yalcohol o formar acidos al estar guardado. Utilice SlEMPREcombustible fresco (con menos de 30 dias).
NOTA: Deseche el aceite viejo, de conformidad con las regulacionesfederales, estatales y locales.
Uso de combustibles mezclados
Si utiliza un combustible mezclado:
• Utilice siempre la mezcla fresca de combustible indicada en sumanual del operador
Use el aditivo STA-BIL® o un equivalente
Agite siempre la mezcla de combustible antes de abastecer launidad
Vacie el tanque y eche a andar el motor en seco antes deguardar la unidad
ADVERTENCIA: NO USE COMBUSTIBLE E85 ENESTA UNIDAD. Se ha comprobado que es probable que elcombustible con mas de 10% de etanol daSe este motor, Ioque anulara la garantia.
Uso de aditivos para combustible
La botella de aceite para motor de 2 tiempos que viene con estaunidad contiene un aditivo que ayudara a inhibit la corrosi6n yminimizara los dep6sitos de goma. Utilice siempre la marca de aceitepara motor de 2 tiempos que viene con esta unidad. Si no es posible,utilice un buen aceite para motores de 2 tiempos enfriados por aire ymezclelo con un aditivo como el estabilizador de gasolina STA-BIL oun equivalente. Eche 0.8 onzas (23 ml) de aditivo por gal6n decombustible segQn las instrucciones del recipiente. No eche NUNCAlos aditivos directamente en el tanque de combustible de la unidad.
Mezclar el combustible
NOTA: Esta unidad trae un frasco de 3.2 onzas (95 ml) de aceitepara motor de 2 tiempos. Para que la mezcla de combustibledescrita anteriormente sea la correcta, echele la botellacompleta a un gal6n de gasolina sin plomo.

ADVERTENClA: Eche el combustible en un Areaexterior bien ventilada y limpia. Limpie de inmediato todo elcombustible derramado. Evite el peligro de incendio debidoa combustible derramado. No arranque el motor hasta queno se hayan disipado los vapores de combustible.
Coloque la unidad con la tapa del tanque de combustiblemirando hacia arriba.
Quitele la tapa al tanque.
Coloque la boquilla del dep6sito de gasolina en el orificio deIlenado del tanque de combustible y Ilenelo.
NOTA: No rebose el tanque.
4. Limpie todo el combustible que pueda haberse derramado.
5. Vuelva a ponerle la tapa al tanque de gasolina.
6. Antes de arrancar el motor, aleje la unidad a una distancia de 30pies (9.1 m) como minimo del lugar de abasto de combustible.

INSTRUCCIONES DE ARRANQUE
1. Mezcle gasolina con aceite. Consulte las instrucciones para lamezcla de aceite y combustible.
2. Cargue el dep6sito de combustible. Consulte Carga decombustible en la unidad.
NOTA: No es necesario encender la unidad. El interruptor deencendido/apagado esta en la posici6n ON ( I ) (encendido) entodo momento (Fig. 6).
3. Presione y luego suelte el bulbo del cebador lentamente10 veces (Fig. 7). Si no puede ver combustible en el bulbo delcebador, oprima y suelte el bulbo del cebador hasta que se veacombustible.
4. De vuelta la palanca del cebador en el sentido de las agujas delreloj hasta que encaje bien en su lugar (Fig. 8).
5. Agacharse en la posici6n de arranque (Fig. 9).
6. NO apriete el control del acelerador (Fig. 6). Tire de la cuerda dearranque con un movimiento controlado y firme hasta quearranque la unidad (Fig. 9).
NOTA: Esta unidad utiliza el sistema de arranque INCREDI-PULL TM,
que reduce notablemente el esfuerzo necesario para arrancar elmotor.
7. Funcione en vacio el motor durante 5 a 10 segundos. Si launidad se detiene durante este tiempo, apriete el control delacelerador y tire de la cuerda de arranque con un movimientocontrolado y regular hasta que la unidad se ponga en marcha.
8. Apriete y mantenga apretado el control del acelerador. Deje queel motor se caliente durante 30 a 60 segundos.
NOTA: El motor se calent6 adecuadamente cuando acelera sinproblemas.
SL.el motor no arranca, comience el procedimiento de arranquecon el paso 3.

1. Suelte el control del acelerador y deje que el motor funcioneen ralenti.

Sostenga la manija con la mano izquierda. Mantenga el brazoizquierdo bien derecho.
Mantenga la unidad al nivel de la cintura.
Coloque el cabezal de corte a algunas pulgadas del suelo.

CONSEJOS PARA OBTENER LOS MEJORES RESULTADOS
Para alejar los recortes del operador, incline levemente elcabezal de corte hacia abajo a la izquierda, corte de derecha aizquierda siempre que sea posible.
No recorte cesped o malezas que esten hQmedos.

RECORTE DECORATIVO
Para hacer un recorte decorativo alrededor de b.rboles, postes,cercas, etc., gire toda la unidad de manera que el cabezal de cortequede a un a.ngulo de 30° respecto al suelo (Fig. 11). Fig. 11

BORDEADO
El accesorio de la recortadora puede ser utilizado para el bordeado(Fig. 12). De manera alternativa, tambien se pueden compraraccesorios de bordeadora de cesped con cuchillas para utilizar conesta unidad.

2. Oprima y mantenga apretado el bot6n de liberaci6n (Fig. 5).
3. Rote el accesorio hasta que el bot6n de liberaci6n entre a presi6nfirmemente dentro del orificio de rebordes de 90° (Fig. 13).
4. Gire la perilla en el sentido de las agujas del reloj para apretar elacoplador (Fig. 3).
PRECAUCION: Solamente coloque a presi6n el bot6nde liberaci6n dentro del orificio de rebordes de 90° cuandoeste rebordeando con el accesorio de recorte. Si se utilizaeste orificio de rebordes de 90 ° con otros accesorios, sepodrian producir lesiones personales o dados a la unidad.
Mantenimiento del hilo de recorte
Las superficies duras, tales como aceras pueden hacer que el hilode recorte se desgaste rapidamente o se corte.
• Verifique con frecuencia la Iongitud del hilo de recorte.Reemplace el hilo de recorte segQn sea necesario. ConsulteReemplazo del Hilo de Recorte.
NO fuerce la unidad. Realice cortes poco profundos en tantaspasadas como sea necesario para Iograr la profundidaddeseada. Corte a un ritmo lento, uniforme.

REEMPLAZO DEL HILO DE RECORTE
Use Qnicamente el hilo de recorte que se describe en la secci6nEspecificaciones. Otros tipos de hilo de recorte pueden causar elrecalentamiento o la falla de la unidad.
I _ I ADVERTENClA: Nunca use un hilo, un cable, unacadena o una cuerda de metal reforzados. Podriansepararse y convertirse en proyectiles peligrosos. 1
1. Retire el hilo viejo del cabezal de corte. Empuje un extremo delhilo de recorte dentro del cabezal de corte hasta que sobresalgaun lazo de hilo del cabezal. Tire del lazo para extraer el hilo.
2. Use una tela limpia para limpiar la superficie del cabezal de corte.3. Inserte los extremes del nuevo hilo de recorte dentro de los
orificios del cabezal de corte (Fig. 14). Empuje el hilo a traves delos orificios hasta que ambos extremos sobresalgan de losconductos de posicionamiento (Fig. 15).
4. Tire de los extremos del hilo hasta que quede tenso contra elcabezal de corte. AsegQrese de que los extremos del hilo seande igual Iongitud (Fig. 16). Si un extremo es mas largo que elotto, empuje el extremo mas largo nuevamente a traves delcabezal de corte parcialmente y tire del extremo mas corto haciaafuera. De ser necesario, repita el proceso hasta que ambosextremos sean de igual Iongitud.
5. Presione el lazo expuesto del hilo de recorte hasta que esteajustado contra el cabezal de corte (Fig. 16).

No dar mantenimiento al filtro de aire correctamente puede hacer queel motor funcione mal o dafiarlo para siempre. La falla del motordebida al mantenimiento inadecuado del filtro no esta cubierta pot lagarantia del producto.
Limpiar el filtro de aire
1. Abra la tapa del filtro de aire. Presione la lengQeta de de trabahacia adentro y gire la tapa del filtro de aire hacia la derecha(Fig. 17).
2. Saque el filtro de aire del interior de la tapa (Fig. 17).
3. Lave el filtro de aire con agua y detergente. Enjuague bien elfiltro y dejelo secar.
4. RecObralo con una ligera capa de aceite SAE 30 limpio.
5. Exprima el filtro para esparcir y eliminar el exceso de aceite.
6. Vuelva a porter el filtro dentro de la tapa del filtro de aire (Fig. 17).
NOTA: Operar la unidad sin el filtro de aire, ANULARA la garantia.
7. Cierre la tapa del filtro de aire. Gire la tapa del filtro de aire haciala izquierda y presi6nela hasta que la lengQeta de traba encajeen su lugar (Fig. 17).

AJUSTE DE LA VELOCIDAD DE RALENTi
ADVERTENCIA: El cabezal de corte puede girar durantelos ajustes de la velocidad de ralenti. Utilice vestimenta deprotecci6n y respete todas las instrucciones de seguridadpara evitar que se produzcan lesiones personales graves.
Si el motor no funciona al ralenti correctamente:
1. Drene el dep6sito de combustible y agregue combustible nuevo,que se haya mezclado adecuadamente. Consulte Aceite ycombustible.
2. Limpie el filtro de aire. Consulte Mantenimiento del filtro de aire.
Si el motor no funciona al ralenti correctamente, ajuste la velocidadde ralenti:
1. Arranque el motor. Consulte Arranque y Parada.
2. Suelte el control del acelerador y deje que el motor funcione enralenti.
• Si el motor se para, aumente la velocidad de ralenti. Use undestornillador Phillips pequefio para girar el tornillo develocidad de ralenti en el sentido de las agujas del reloj, 1/8de giro cada vez hasta que el motor funciona al ralenti demanera uniforme (Fig. 18).
Si el cabezal de corte gira cuando el motor funciona al ralenti,reduzca la velocidad de ralenti. Gire el tornillo de velocidad deralenti en el sentido contrario de las agujas del reloj, 1/8 de girocada vez, hasta que se detenga el cabezal de corte (Fig. 18).
Si el motor todavia no funciona al ralenti correctamente y sepresenta alguna de las siguientes condiciones, Ileve la unidad aSears o a otto distribuidor de servicio calificado:
el motor no funciona de manera uniforme o se detiene al acelerar
existe una perdida de potencia del motor

MANTENIMIENTO DE LA BUJiA
1. Detenga el motor y dejelo enfriar. Agarre firmemente la pipa(capucha) y saquela de la bujia.
2. Limpie alrededor de la bujia. Saque la bujia de la culatagirandola en sentido contrario a la agujas del reloj con una Ilavede bujia de 5/8 de pulgada.

3. Inspeccionelabujia.Silabujiade encendido estarajada,
corroidao sucia,reemplb.celacon una piezade repuesto#753-06193, Champion RDJ7J o una bujia equivalente.
4. Use un calibrador de hoja para ajustar abertura de la bujia a0.025 pulgadas (0.635 ram) (Fig. 19).
5. Instale la bujia en la culata del motor. Apriete la bujia en elsentido de las agujas del reloj con una Ilave de bujia de 5/8hasta ajustarla.
NOTA: Si usa una Ilave dinamometrica, use un par de torsi6n de:
110-120 pulgada,libra (12.3=13.5 N=m}. No apriete demasiado.
6. Vuelva a ponerle la pipa (capucha).

LIMPIEZA
ADVERTENClA: A fin de evitar lesiones personales |graves, siempre pare el motor y deje que se enfrie antes de Jlimpiar o mantener la unidad.
Use un cepillo pequer_o para limpiar el exterior de la unidad. Noutilice detergentes fuertes. Los productos de limpieza para el hogarque contienen aceites aromaticos como pino y lim6n, y losdisolventes como el queroseno, pueden dar_ar el pla,stico. Limpietodo rastro de humedad con una tela suave.
ALMACENAMIENTO
= Nunca almacene la unidad con combustible en lugares dondelas emanaciones pueden alcanzar llamas abiertas o chispas.
• Deje que se enfrie el motor antes de almacenar la unidad.
Trabe la unidad para evitar que se la utilice sin permiso o que seprovoquen da_os.
Almacene la unidad en una zona seca y bien ventilada.
Almacene la unidad lejos del alcance de los ni_os.
Almacenamiento a corto plazo (1-2 semanas}
1. Almacene la unidad en posici6n horizontal. Si esto no es posible,almacene la unidad de manera vertical con el motor arriba.
AIrnacenarniento a largo plazo
1. Retire la tapa de combustible, incline la unidad y drene elcombustible en un recipiente aprobado. Vuelva a colocar la tapadel combustible.
2. Arranque el motor y dejelo correr hasta que se detenga. Estoasegura que todo el combustible se haya drenado del carburador.
3. Espere a que el motor se enfrie. Quitele la bujia y eche 5 gotasde cualquier aceite de motor de 2 tiempos de alta calidad en elcilindro. Tire despacio de la cuerda de arranque para distribuir elaceite. Vuelva a porter la bujia.
4. Limpie minuciosamente la unidad e inspeccione si hay algunapieza suelta o dar_ada. Repare o reemplace las piezas dar_adasy ajuste los tornillos, tuercas o pernos que esten flojos.
Preparaci6n de la unidad para su uso luego delalmacenamiento a largo plazo
1. Retire la bujia y drene todo el aceite del cilindro.
NOTA: No use combustible que haya estado guardado durante m_,sde 30 dias. Deseche el combustible usado de acuerdo con lasnormativas federales, estatales y locales.
