1 Peter 1:18-2118 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;

19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,

21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

TRUTH FOR TODAY“In every Christian’s heart there is a cross and a throne, and the Christian is on the throne till he puts himself on the cross; if he refuses the cross he remains on the throne. Perhaps this is at the bottom of the backsliding and worldliness among gospel believers today. We want to be saved but we insist that Christ do all the dying. No cross for us, no dethronement, no dying. We remain king within the little kingdom of Mansoul and wear our tinsel crown with all the pride of a Caesar; but we doom ourselves to shadows and weakness and spiritual sterility.”

“Keep your heart open to the correction of the Lord and be ready to receive His chastisement regardless of who holds the whip.”

- A. W. Tozer (1897-1963)

Our Missionariesto South America

Calvary Baptist Church has ten missionary families in South America - seven families in Brazil, one family in Chile, one family in Columbia and a single missionary in Peru. Below is a continuation of their most recent prayer requests.

Lanny & Judy Wood

We support Lanny & Judy Wood, missionaries in Brazil for 46 years. They live in the state of São Paulo, in southern Brazil. Originally from Texas, In 1971, Bro. Lanny was saved as the result of a church bus ministry; his wife, Judy was saved at 12 years old. In a recent prayer letter, Bro. Wood mentioned how in 2015, the Lord’s opened doors for a weekly evangelistic service they have in a Catholic cancer hospital located in São Paulo. There have been people who’ve accepted Christ as a result of this ministry. Bro. Wood asks that prayer be for the annual missions conference to be held in late November. They pray to increase support for the 20 missionaries that their churches currently support. Also, they hope to expand the missions program to include an evangeli-cal outreach to Jews and Muslims in the area.
