Since 1988, Junior Achievement of Central Virginia has been the proud

sponsor of the Greater Richmond Busi-ness Hall of Fame. A select group of individuals is chosen annually based on their unique and lasting impact on our free enterprise system and their contri-butions to the metropolitan Richmond community. We also celebrate the con-tinuing success of Junior Achievement of Central Virginia, which is providing personal finance, workforce development

and entrepreneurship education to the youth of our community.

On May 19, 2011, the Greater Rich-mond Business Hall of Fame will induct three new Laureates. These individuals have demonstrated sustained business excellence, courageous thinking and action, vision and innovation, as well as a long record of inspirational leadership and community mindfulness.

Junior Achievement (JA) programs are designed to inspire students from

a young age to set goals while giving them the tools and knowledge needed to make their dreams a reality. From our youngest kindergarten participants to high school seniors, JA provides practi-cal economics, career planning, finan-cial literacy, skill building and a value for lifelong learning, leadership and thoughtful economic choices.

Our dynamic and user-friendly curricu-lum is only half of the complete Junior Achievement experience. All JA pro-grams are delivered by community and business mentors who share their experi-ence and offer guidance and direction. Hands-on activities are incorporated into each lesson to reinforce the con-cepts and to make learning fun. Critical workforce skills such as teamwork, ethics, communication, problem solving and goal setting are emphasized at every level. The end result of a community’s

investment in Junior Achievement is a skilled, motivated and productive future workforce.

As you look into the stories of our great-est business leaders and our Laureates you will recognize moments where their dreams were born and find mentors who inspired dedication and persis-tence in reaching for those dreams. Our ultimate desire at Junior Achievement is to ensure that more of those dreams are born and sustained in generations to come… not by accident or luck, but on purpose, by design and with the full support of the community.

Last year, Junior Achievement of Cen-tral Virginia delivered programs to more than 20,000 students in excess of 1,000 classrooms. Our volunteers helped stu-dents throughout the region to under-stand that we all have the capacity to be successful.
