OPPORTUNITIES FOR RENEWABLE ENERGY AND ENERGY EFFICENCY STUDIES IN MACEDONIA, FRANCE AND GERMANY

EU target for 2050 is to decarbonize the energy sector which means de-termined orientation to clean energy economies. The energy transforma-tion from fossil fuel to renewable energy based societies creates a need

for a new generation of educated energy talents.

3 milion jobs should be cre-ated or retained in the Renew-

able Energy sector by 2020 – its stated in the “document for green

economy” of the European Commis-sion. Young people are essential for filling

this demand along with the educational programmes of schools and universities.. The educational system should adjust their academic opportunities to the needs of the labor market and provide high qual-ity energy talents to contribute to the creation of clean energy socie-ties.In this brochure you can find an overview of the academic opportuni-ties, universities and faculties that provide studies with renewable energy related curriculums in Macedonia, France and Germany. It aims to create awareness among young people about the academic opportunities in the renewable energy and energy efficiency pro-grammes. The brochure was promoted during the EU sustainable energy week, 23-27 June in Skopje. The activities are part of the project “Reducing Youth Carbon Footprint” supported by the French Embassy in Skop-je, Konrad Adenauer Foundation, and TITAN Cementarnica USJE AD Skopje.

The European Master in Renewable Ener-gy is an initiative proposed and developed by the association of European Renewable Energy Research Centres (EUREC) and a consortium of Universities outlined in th-ePartnering Universities section. The programme has been run since 2002 by a network of nine European Universi-ties and research centres who are leading the way in renewable energy research, development and demonstration. It is coordinated by EUREC EEIG, a con-sortium of European renewable energy research centres, which has its headquar-ters in Brussels. The aim of the European Master in Re-newable Energy is to train post-graduate students to fill the gap between the grow-ing industry demand for specialised re-newable energy expertise and the skills currently available on the job market. By structuring the course in three sections, students are guaranteed to spend time in at least two different EU countries and make contact with a wide range of Euro-pean institutes and companies involved in the renewable energy sector. The partici-pating universities are all well-established in training and the education sector as well as being recognised at an interna-tional level for their work in the field of renewable energy technology.http://www.master.eurec.be/en/Partner-ing-Universities/Overview/
