OptiView Protocol Expert Professional is
a scalable protocol analysis and network
monitoring software solution for network
support and application performance
management. Real-time application traffic
monitoring provides statistics and expert
problem recognition at all seven layers
of the OSI model. For in-depth analysis
and troubleshooting, Protocol Expert
captures network packets then decodes
the communications between clients,
servers and network devices, decreasing
problem resolution time and increasing your
understanding of network and application
behavior. Following TCP sessions and
communication streams is easy with Protocol
Expert’s single click filtering and application
bounce chart graphical display.
OptiView Protocol Expert Plus is the
same software package as above, plus
adds traffic generation and peer-to-peer
(P2P) controls for other installations of
OptiView Protocol Expert Plus and OptiView
Link Analyzer. The unique P2P capabilities
give IT professionals a collaborative
advantage when troubleshooting network
or application issues across corporate

Voice over IP Option helps you ensure
Quality of Service (QoS) for this mission-
critical application. While other protocol
analyzers provide only VoIP decodes,
OptiView Protocol Expert actually decodes
and tracks packets on a call-by-call basis
while measuring important characteristics
such as jitter, dropped packets, set-up and
latency. These measurements then go into
a mean opinion score (MOS) calculation
for each call. If degradation of call quality
does become an issue, IT staff can set up
alerts for notification before end users
are impacted. By measuring call quality at
different locations on the network, IT staff
can isolate network segments that need
reconfiguration or upgrading.
