THE SEASON OF ADVENT IS HERE! This is a very important time in the church year where we spend time reflecting on the great gift of Jesus, our Savior. As all of you know, this can be a tremendous challenge with all of the other good things that happen during this month. I do invite and encourage all of you to take some time during Advent to participate in one of many activities in your parish, including the Sacrament of Reconciliation. All our schools
have many special activities planned, including service work, many kinds of prayer, celebrating Reconciliation, raising funds for those in need in our community, and more. Our goal is to help each child experience the importance of the birth of Jesus and what it means for us.
A recent research paper discussed ways to help young people remain Catholic. The article noted three key factors:
1. Regular, at least weekly, and hopefully more, instruction in the Catholic faith.
2. Interaction with adults other than their parents who share their faith.
3. Deep spiritual experiences, including retreats, service trips, and prayer.
That certainly describes our Catholic schools! Not only do we have the highest academic standards, but the Catholic faith is infused into so much of what we do. Our goal is to continue to build strong citizens who have strong faith, and that is definitely needed in our world today.
On behalf of all the staff at Pacelli Catholic Schools, I want to wish you a very blessed Christmas and a wonderful New Year. May God continue to bless you and your family. We are surely blessed to have the opportunity to work with so many wonderful children and families in this great community.
