For your protection, observe the following safety precautions when setting up your equipment:

Placement of an Oracle Product

Caution - Do not block or cover the openings of your Oracle product. Never place an Oracleproduct near a radiator or heat register. Failure to follow these guidelines can cause overheatingand affect the reliability of your Oracle product.

SELV Compliance

Safety status of I/O connections comply to SELV requirements.

Power Cord ConnectionCaution - Oracle products are designed to work with power systems having a grounded neutral(grounded return for DC-powered products). To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not plugOracle products into any other type of power system. Contact your facilities manager or aqualified electrician if you are not sure what type of power is supplied to your building.

Caution - Not all power cords have the same current ratings. Do not use the power cordprovided with your equipment for any other products or use. Household extension cords donot have overload protection and are not meant for use with computer systems. Do not usehousehold extension cords with your Oracle product.

The following caution applies only to devices with a Standby power switch:

Caution - The power switch of this product functions as a standby type device only. The powercord serves as the primary disconnect device for the system. Be sure to plug the power cord intoa grounded power outlet that is nearby the system and is readily accessible. Do not connect thepower cord when the power supply has been removed from the system chassis.

The following caution applies only to devices with multiple power cords:

Caution - For products with multiple power cords, all power cords must be disconnected tocompletely remove power from the system.

Battery Warning

Caution - There is danger of explosion if batteries are mishandled or incorrectly replaced.On systems with replaceable batteries, replace only with the same manufacturer and typeor equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer per the instructions provided in theproduct service manual. Do not disassemble batteries or attempt to recharge them outside thesystem. Do not dispose of batteries in fire. Dispose of batteries properly in accordance with themanufacturers instructions and local regulations. Note that on Oracle CPU boards, there is alithium battery molded into the real-time clock. These batteries are not customer replaceableparts.

Caution - For product installed in California, USA: This product may contain a time-of-day

battery which may contain perchlorate where special handling may apply. See http://www.dtsc.ca.gov/hazardouswaste/perchlorate .

Energy Storage Module Caution

Caution - There is a danger of shock or equipment damage if energy storage modules aremishandled or incorrectly replaced. When replacing the energy storage modules, use onlyreplacement modules that have been provided by Oracle, following the instructions provided inthe product service manual. Do not disassemble modules or attempt to recharge them outsideof the system. Do not dispose of the modules; instead, return them to Oracle in accordance with

Oracle procedures for the product.

System Unit Cover

You must remove the cover of your Oracle computer system unit to add cards, memory, orinternal storage devices. Be sure to replace the cover before powering on your computer system.

Caution - Do not operate Oracle products without the cover in place. Failure to take thisprecaution may result in personal injury and system damage.

Rack System Instructions

The following or similar rack-mount instructions are included with the installation instructions:

Elevated Operating Ambient If installed in a closed or multi-unit rack assembly, theoperating ambient temperature of the rack environment may be greater than room ambient.

Therefore, consideration should be given to installing the equipment in an environmentcompatible with the maximum ambient temperature (Tma) specified by the manufacturer.

Reduced Air Flow Installation of the equipment in a rack should be such that the amountof air flow required for safe operation of the equipment is not compromised.

Mechanical Loading Mounting of the equipment in the rack should be such that ahazardous condition is not achieved due to uneven mechanical loading.

Circuit Overloading Consideration should be given to the connection of the equipmentto the supply circuit and the effect that overloading of the circuits might have on overcurrentprotection and supply wiring. Appropriate consideration of equipment nameplate ratingsshould be used when addressing this concern.

Reliable Earthing Reliable earthing of rack-mounted equipment should be maintained.Particular attention should be given to supply connections other than direct connections tothe branch circuit (for example, use of power strips).

Caution - Slide/rail mounted equipment must not be used as a shelf or workspace.

Rack System WarningsThe following warnings apply to Racks and Rack Mounted systems.

Caution - For safety, equipment should always be loaded from the bottom up. That is, install theequipment that will be mounted in the lowest part of the rack first, then the next higher systems,etc.

Caution - To prevent the rack from tipping during equipment installation, the anti-tilt bar on therack must be deployed.

Caution - To prevent extreme operating temperature within the rack insure that the maximumtemperature does not exceed the product's ambient rated temperatures.

Caution - To prevent extreme operating temperatures due to reduced airflow considerationshould be made to the amount of air flow that is required for a safe operation of the equipment.

Instructions de montage en rack

La mise en garde suivante s'applique aux racks et aux systmes monts en rack.

Temprature ambiante de fonctionnement leve: en cas d'installation dans un chssisferm ou contenant plusieurs appareils, la temprature ambiante de fonctionnement auniveau du rack peut tre suprieure la temprature ambiante de la pice. En consquence,

il convient de veiller installer le matriel dans un environnement compatible avec latemprature ambiante maximale (Tma), spcifie par le fabricant.

Dbit d'air rduit: l'installation du matriel dans un rack doit tre effectue de faon nepas compromettre le dbit d'air ncessaire pour un fonctionnement sr de ce matriel.

Charge mcanique: le montage de l'quipement en rack doit tre ralis de manire viter toute situation dangereuse rsultant d'une charge dsquilibre.

Surcharge de circuit: il convient de prendre les prcautions ncessaires pour la connexiondu matriel au circuit d'alimentation et de rflchir aux consquences d'une ventuellesurcharge des circuits sur la protection de surintensit et sur le cblage d'alimentation. Enl'occurrence, les valeurs nominales de la plaque signaltique du matriel doivent tre prisesen compte.

Mise la terre fiable: une mise la terre fiable du matriel mont en rack doit treassure. Une attention toute particulire est requise pour les raccordements d'alimentationautres que ceux effectus directement sur le circuit principal (par exemple, en casd'utilisation de blocs multiprises).

Attention - Lquipement mont sur glissire/rail ne doit servir ni dtagre ni despace detravail.

Mise en garde relative au systme en racks

La mise en garde suivante s'applique aux racks et aux systmes monts en rack.

Attention - Pour des raisons de scurit, le matriel doit toujours tre charg du bas vers le haut.En d'autres termes, vous devez installer, en premier, le matriel qui doit se trouver dans la partiela plus infrieure du rack, puis installer le matriel sur le niveau suivant, etc.

Attention - Afin d'viter que le rack ne penche pendant l'installation du matriel, tirez la barreanti-basculement du rack.

Attention - Pour viter des tempratures de fonctionnement extrmes dans le rack, assurez-vousque la temprature maximale ne dpasse pas la fourchette de tempratures ambiantes du produitdtermine par le fabricant.

Warnung bezglich Batterien

Achtung - Bei unsachgemer Handhabung oder nicht fachgerechtem Austausch derBatterien besteht Explosionsgefahr. Verwenden Sie bei Systemen mit austauschbaren Batterienausschlielich Ersatzbatterien desselben Typs und Herstellers bzw. einen entsprechenden,vom Hersteller gem den Anweisungen im Service-Handbuch des Produkts empfohlenenBatterietyp. Versuchen Sie nicht, die Batterien auszubauen oder auerhalb des Systemswiederaufzuladen. Werfen Sie die Batterien nicht ins Feuer. Entsorgen Sie die Batterienentsprechend den Anweisungen des Herstellers und den vor Ort geltenden Vorschriften. CPU-Karten von Oracle verfgen ber eine Echtzeituhr mit integrierter Lithiumbatterie. DieseBatterie darf nur von einem qualifizierten Servicetechniker ausgewechselt werden.

Sicherheitshinweise zum Energiespeichermodul

Achtung - Bei unsachgemer Handhabung oder unsachgemem Austausch vonEnergiespeichermodulen besteht die Gefahr eines Stromschlags oder Gerteschadens.Verwenden Sie beim Austausch von Energiespeichermodulen nur Ersatzmodule, die vonOracle bereitgestellt wurden, und folgen Sie den im Service Manual zum Produkt enthaltenenAnweisungen. Versuchen Sie auf keinen Fall, Module auszubauen oder diese auerhalb desSystems wiederaufzuladen. Entsorgen Sie die Module bitte nicht. GehuseabdeckungSie mssen die Abdeckung Ihres Oracle-Computersystems entfernen, um Karten, Speicheroder interne Speichergerte hinzuzufgen. Bringen Sie vor dem Einschalten des Systems dieGehuseabdeckung wieder an.

Umgebungstemperatur des Raumes. Deshalb sollte bercksichtigt werden, das Gertin einer Umgebung zu installieren, die kompatibel zu der vom Hersteller angegebenen

maximalen Umgebungstemperatur (Tma) ist. Reduzierter Luftstrom- Die Installation des Gerts in einem Rack sollte so erfolgen,

dass die Luftstrommenge, die fr den sicheren Betrieb des Gerts erforderlich ist, nichtbeeintrchtigt wird.

Mechanische Belastung- Die Montage des Gerts im Rack sollte so erfolgen, dass beieiner ungleichmigen mechanischen Belastung keine gefhrliche Betriebsbedingungentstehen kann.

Stromkreisberlastung- Der Anschluss des Gerts an den Speisestromkreis und dieWirkung, die ein berlasten der Stromkreise auf das berstromschutz-Gert und dieSpeisestromkreisverkabelung haben kann, sollten sorgfltig geprft und bercksichtigtwerden. Beim Behandeln dieses Aspekts sollten besonders die Lastangaben auf demLeistungsschild des Gerts sorgfltig geprft werden.

Zuverlssige Erdung- Ausrstung, die in Racks montiert ist, muss zuverlssig geerdetsein. Besonders mssen hierbei die Stromanschlussleitungen und weniger die direktenVerbindungen zum Abzweigstromkreis beachtet werden (z. B. durch die Verwendung vonAdapterleisten).

Achtung - Verwenden Sie Gerte in Steckpltzen bzw. auf Schienen nicht als Regal oderArbeitsbereich.

Warnungen bezglich in Racks eingebauterSysteme

Die folgenden Warnungen gelten fr Racks und in Racks eingebaute Systeme:

Achtung - Aus Sicherheitsgrnden sollten smtliche Gerte von unten nach oben in Rackseingebaut werden. Installieren Sie also zuerst die Gerte, die an der untersten Position im Rackeingebaut werden, gefolgt von den Systemen, die an nchsthherer Stelle eingebaut werden,usw.

Achtung - Verwenden Sie beim Einbau den Kippschutz am Rack, um ein Umkippen zuvermeiden.

Achtung - Um extreme Betriebstemperaturen im Rack zu vermeiden, stellen Sie sicher, dass

die Maximaltemperatur die Nennleistung der Umgebungstemperatur fr das Produkt nichtberschreitet

Achtung - Um extreme Betriebstemperaturen durch verringerte Luftzirkulation zu vermeiden,sollte die fr den sicheren Betrieb des Gerts erforderliche Luftzirkulation eingesetzt werden.

Achtung - Treffen Sie ausreichende Vorkehrungen, wenn Sie ein Rack oder eine Bibliothekbewegen, die rackmontierte Gerte enthlt. Durch das Gewicht mancher Ausrstungsteile imRack wurde mglicherweise der Schwerpunkt des Racks bzw. der Bibliothek verndert, waszu einem Ungleichgewicht bzw. Umkippen eines Ausrstungsteils whrend einer Bewegungfhren kann.

Achtung - Stellen Sie bei Bandbibliotheken sicher, dass auf den im Rack zu installierendenGerten das UL-Prfzeichen, die CSA- bzw C-UL-Zertifizierung, und die CE-Kennzeichnungangebracht sind.

Hinweise zur Laser-Konformitt

Ihr Oracle-Produkt kann Lasergerte der Klasse 1M oder Laser der Klasse 1, klassifiziert nachSicherheitsnorm IEC 60825-1, umfassen.

Achtung - Durch Verwendung von Bedienelementen oder Einstellungen sowie Durchfhrungvon Verfahren, die nicht in der Oracle-Produktdokumentation angegeben sind, kann es zumAustritt gefhrlicher Strahlung kommen. Verwenden Sie keine optischen Instrumente zurBetrachtung des Laserstrahls.
