Answer from page 6
You hook the negative end of one cable to the positive end of the other cable. You now have one cable that is 28 feet long. You hook the 28 foot cable to the positive end of both batteries. You then drive the running car to the rear of the car with the dead battery so that both bumpers are touching. You now have created your ground for both cars and can start the car. A man was driving with his
wife and mother-in-law.
His Mother-in-law would
say, Turn Left! His wife
would then shout, No Go
right, then you are driving
to fast. Then the mother-in-
law would say go faster. I
have a hair appointment in
30 minutes. After about
twenty minutes of mixed
orders, the husband
stopped the car in the mid-
dle of traffic and asked his
wife, “who is driving this
car, you or your mother-in-
law?”

Directors message First I would like to thank everyone who helped with last month’s meeting in my absence. This month we met in our private room, and have been assured that we will have it in the future, also Lee Wangerin has volun-teered to call Spires in the afternoon of our meeting to get the room ready and cooled down for us. Lee Wangerin spoke to us on the roads of the 1920s, how they were marked, and how the directions from point to point to point varied from directions of today. Most speedometers of the day were accurate to one tenth of a mile. Lee passed out maps of the roads of the 1920s. Lee has done a significant amount of research on the subject. Those of us who attended the meeting got a good education. Thank you Lee .
Our next board meeting will be on August 2 at Larry Minerys house. The meeting will start at 7;00pm. Feel free to attend, but call Larry before hand so seating can be arranged. One topic of discussion will be our car show. Since we have posted our News letter on the internet we have had over 2300 people look (hit) on it, and I have received two calls as of this time from people who have interest in our club. We will be having food cooked to order at our car show. Watch for more information in this and coming news letters. I would like to thank those of you that have sent me pictures of your cars and articles for our news letter. I would rather have one of our cars pictured than to find something elsewhere.
Please note that Wally’s shop will be closed Monday August
first through August fourteenth. He will open again on Au-
gust fifteenth. (Everyone needs some time off now and then)
I need to thank all the Board of Directors for their hard work the first half of the year. Without them we would have no club. Keep up the good work.
Dues were due July 1, 2011. We are in the process of print-
ing our 2012 roster. If we don't have your dues you will not
be in the roster

Secretaries notes
July 19th 2011 monthly meeting
Members present: Sheridan Bishop, Gary Martin, Eddie Rusnak, Ken Foster, Richard Brewbaker, Scott Anderson, Steven Ander-son, Baron Night, Sam Engle, Lee Wangerin, Nancy Brewbaker, Irene Foster. There was a motion to approve the minutes of the June meeting as written in the news letter by Gary Martin, seconded by Lee Wangerin and passed unanimously. Lee Wangerin gave an excellent and informative talk on the early highways in the United States. These are the highways and by-ways that proceeded the inter-state highway system. Last month’s tour and picnic to Irvine park was a huge success with over twenty people attending. There were many positive comments about the location. There were concerns about the meeting room not being ready. Lee will call ahead to make sure the room is ready. The 50/50 raffle was won by Larry Minery. He won $15.50 There will be a Board meeting on August 2nd at Larry Minery’s house at 7:00pm. The meeting was adjourned at 8:38pm by Director Sheridan Bishop III

Flushing your engine, Continued from July 2011 page 8 Do a regular oil and filter change, but use only 1/2 quart of kerosene to every 4 quarts of oil. Then start the car and let it run for about 15 minutes. Don’t rev up the engine or hit the throttle. When you drain the oil it should be fairly dirty. Change the oil and filter again, but don't add the kerosene. Repeat the procedure at the next sched-uled oil change if needed. Another problem with heavy flushing is when you put in the new oil, there are some areas it cannot get to right away. Up to 10% of old oil and solvent remains in the engine after it is drained. It accumu-lates in the casting cavities and the bottom of the sump. Some of us believe in using automatic transmission fluid as a oil flusher. It has a lot of scouring properties, which is why a transmis-sion oil flush is never needed. Many transmissions don't even have drain plugs. Pressure flushing. The people who manufacture the machines usually state in their operating manuals not to use their machines on high mileage vehicles. Pressure flushing forces heated solvent against the normal flow of the oil under high pressure. The idea is that by forc-ing cleaning solvents backwards through the system, it will get all the sludge and crud that has formed. This may sound good but in prac-tice it could be dangerous. What about small passageways and one way valves in the engine that keep fluids from backtracking? By us-ing a aggressive cleaning procedure like pressure flushing, large globs of accumulated sludge may be dislodged and forced backwards. This could cut off the normal flow of oil and cause lack of lubrication in the engine.
Just a test on jumping batteries on older cars.
If your car is 18 feet long and is parked in a narrow alley with no outlet, and you only have one set of jumper cables and they are only 14 feet long, how can you jump start your car without any other ca-bles?
