Methodology2009-2010
OCPS Speech Language Pathologists and Pre K varying exceptionalities teachers
collaborated to present
reading sessions to students with disabilities.
Collaboration In OCPS
• 268 children ages 3 to 5 years of age In PreK VE classes
• Eligible for exceptional education services in one or more areas of developmental delay
• Speech-Language Pathologist and Pre-K ESE teachers plan and implement the language and read aloud sessions
• Pre-K ESE Paraprofessionals

Key Findings
Students made improvements in all four areas of emergent literacy from week 2 toweek 22.
Greatest improvements were made in Print Knowledge and Phonological Awareness.
Some students with disabilities demonstrated skills that demonstrated achievement state PreK standards.
