Consigning Fine Furniture and Home Decor

Interior design is a focus of Fine Consign, which offers designer lines of upholstered furniture, fabrics, and wallpaper. As an interior designer for over 13 years for Edman Furniture in Eugene, Beth understands the value of quality-built furniture and how to blend and repurpose new and old.

Beth’s husband, Don Frosland, owner and operator of The Furniture Clinic, has repaired and restored furniture for clients throughout

the Northwest for more than 30 years. Don is able to apply his craft to Fine Consign furniture so items will look beautiful on the showroom floor, maximizing their resale value. With the new location’s increased space, Don has even more room to operate.

With an extensive network of contacts, the Froslands have new items arriving every week. Consignment contracts are available for review.

Fine furnishings have a new home at Fine Consign: a delightful specialty consignment store. Beth Frosland’s idea to create her little shop was inspired partially by the architecture and ambiance of the historic Coburg Inn. With her eye for design (and a lot of paint), Beth transformed the interior of the inn into a sophisticated retail space which showcased her client’s gently-used furnishings and home décor. After two years of success in Coburg, Fine Consign moved to a larger location in Eugene in order to showcase the growing selection of consignment items, unique gift items, candles, and home décor.

The Albany Municipal Airport is Oregon’s oldest continually operating airport. Today the Albany Airport serves the community in general aviation operations, corporate transportation and ambulatory

transit requirements.

The Albany Airport serves the community with easy access to the Linn County Fair and Expo Center, and numerous city businesses including Cascade Grill Restaurant, Lum Yeun Restaurant, and five major hotels with access from the Airport. The Albany Airport hosts the Albany Art & Air Festival the last weekend in August each summer. Local businesses based on the airport include Primarily Jets, 16-34 Aviation, JustLightSport, and marxflyingcolours.

The airport is home base for approximately 100 smaller general aviation aircrafts, which utilize hangar facilities, access to

aviation fuel, and aircraft maintenance. The airport has a fixed base operators building (FBO) and a 3,000 foot runway with night

lighting VASI and FAA approved instrument approaches.

Several businesses on the airport provide aircraft sales, maintenance, and interior and exterior/refurbishing, flight instruction,

and charter operations.

Whether you are buying or selling an airplane, learning to fly, updating your flying skills, having your aircraft serviced or enjoying the Mid-Willamette Valley and its local attractions, fly in and feel free to visit the Albany Municipal Airport at your next opportunity.

DININGPhoto courtesy of Cafe 440

Page 49: Oregon Resource Guide Spring / Summer 2014

Café 440 hits the restaurant scene with an emphasis on Pacific Northwest influence. Its reasonably-priced menu, paired with deliciously-simple meals, makes it a must-stop.

Nestled near national food chains in Coburg Station, Café 440 stands out as a local option. Owner Todd Schuetz and Head Chef Katie Nordgren seek local producers for their ingredients, from cheese makers to berry farmers.

Schuetz utilizes a large portion of his advertizing budget to influence the community by donating to different local charities every month, further promoting Café 440’s local philosophy.

“By doing something positive, we will attract positive people to us,” Schuetz says. The restaurant’s

positive aura is exemplified in its food, its style, and its staff.

Local beers grace the rotating tap list. Old-style comfort foods, like mac-n-cheese, are menu staples. fresh fish from the Pacific Northwest adds a different zest to customers’ palates.

With 2,700 square feet of restaurant space, Schuetz puts his floor to prime use. The interior design is simple, which allows the lively atmosphere and bold food to take center stage.

Why visit Café 440? “I’m competing against national chains on a local street,” Schuetz says. for those looking to select the local option, Café 440 is the

best choice. Most likely, the owner will be at the door to greet you.

Bloomer’s Nursery was started in 1970 by Ben & Alice Bloomer. It has remained in the family over the years, passing to their son and daughter-in-law, Jim & Glenda, and is currently owned by Jim and Glenda’s daughter and her husband, Jenny and Paul. We specialize in landscape trees and shrubs, so we are the perfect first stop for the new homeowner who is landscaping their yard or homeowners looking to spruce up their yard. We have a separate wholesale division that caters specifically to the local landscape industry and we have a good collection of statuary, pottery, locally made garden art, furniture, and garden supplies such as bagged potting soil and compost to assist you in any project.

As might be expected, things change seasonally around the Nursery. Many people get outside to work in their yard in the spring to fill up with annual and perennial color spots, hanging baskets, and even to get their vegetable garden started. Spring is the time to awaken, renew, and refresh and that definitely happens at the Nursery! Summer continues with color, fruit trees, berries, and vegetables. By autumn, plants are winding down for their year, but not before

many of them give us a fantastic show of beautiful foliage color. During winter, it might not seem like much is happening in your garden, but it is a perfect time to look at the bones, or structure, of your garden without all the leaves in the way. Then start to make plans for the changes and/or additions you want the coming spring. Winter at the Nursery is also very busy for us, as we receive new inventory of trees and shrubs. And we can’t forget that we celebrate the holidays with fresh-made wreaths and living, non-traditional Christmas trees.

There have been many changes at the Nursery in the 40+ years we have been around, but one thing remains the same: our goal to grow healthy, beautiful plants that will make people’s lives better and enrich our community and environment. It is important to us that good plants be available to everyone and, by growing our own trees and shrubs on location, we are able to keep our prices very competitive.

So if you need just one plant to fill a space or you have an entire yard project, come visit us! We would love to give you options and show you what’s possible in order to help make your landscape project successful.

Timeless Tradition Meets Modern Style...

BrighterHomesLighting

brighterhomeslighting.com1968 W. 6th Eugene (541) 343-2556

Brighter Homes Lighting was opened in Eugene, Oregon in 1968 by Jack Lee. At its inception, it was a novelty. The idea of a stand-alone showroom of decorative lighting was almost unheard of. Lighting was more function than form and often an afterthought in the construction process. However, that was changing and Jack saw an opportunity. Style and design in the lighting industry was blossoming, but it had to be seen in person to be truly appreciated. Jack knew that if he created a showcase for the artistic nature of decorative lighting, home buyers could more fully express their personal style through lighting their homes. Lighting became the jewelry for the home and Brighter Homes has always been a treasure trove. Some 50 years later, Brighter Homes has grown into Oregon’s largest lighting showroom, and yet is still family owned and operated. Ryan Lee, a third generation lighting specialist, believes in Grandpa Jack’s original vision. Brighter Homes is about selection. Featuring over one hundred different lighting brands, Eugene’s largest in-stock light bulb selection, ceiling fans, lamps, hundreds of lampshades, home décor from mirrors to bookends, a huge selection of replacement parts, plus lamp repair services, Brighter Homes has become the one stop resource for all your lighting needs. Lighting experts, several with more than 25 years experience, are there to help you find the perfect lighting solution. A non-commission sales force offers no pressure personally guided tours of the wonderful world of lighting. From the latest LED technology to reproduction Edison style bulbs, Brighter Homes has it all. Stop by with your lighting dilemma or just to experience lighting as fine art. One visit and you will see why Brighter Homes has been “The Bright Choice” for over 50 years.

Sunset Valley Organics, nestled in the heart of the Willamette Valley, was founded in 2006 when Wilt Farms become certified organic with their 75 acres of blueberries. Wilt Farms has been in the valley since the early 1900’s and has remained a small family farm. Over the years the ground has been host to a variety of crops including: numerous varieties of squash, beans, corn, lettuce, peppers, cauliflower, strawberries, blueberries, and Christmas trees, as well as livestock including sheep and turkeys. Now the organic farm is completely certified organic berries including strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries.

Current owner Bob Wilt started his journey to organic farming in 2003, but has been farming all his life, taking over from his father in 1970. In the early 2000s the idea of certified organic was fairly new and not too much information was out on it, so Bob educated himself with a key knowledge of chemistry, biology, and physics to formulate a new way to not only give back to the earth, to make it healthy, but also to create nutrient dense berries that are packed full of vitamins and nutrient that the human body needs.

In 2011 Mr. Wilt decided it was time to branch out into other berries and to see if the same practices could be applied to other types of berries. He planted strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries. In the summer of 2012 the berry farming community faced a new threat, the drosophila fly. While other farmers took losses from their conventional farming methods, Sunset Valley Organics experienced very little damage without using insecticides.

In the summer you and your family can come out to our farm (located south of Corvallis

right off of highway 99W) and pick your own blueberries, we are open seven days a week during harvest. In the winter we have special hours and have made ourselves available for appointments (please call 541-752-0460).

Today Sunset Valley Organics offers frozen certified organic blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, and blackberries, spreads in blueberry, raspberry, strawberry, and blackberry (with a no sugar added option for each variety of berries), dried blueberries, and freeze dried powder available in blueberry, strawberry, and blackberry.

Sunset Valley Organics is GMO free (genetically modified organism), this means that the varieties of berries have not been genetically modified and are completely all natural. A GMO is an organism that has been genetically modified to include gene sequences that do not occur in nature. Theses GMOs started out to be used in research in labs, but are now finding their way on to farms, and producing food that we eat that can be damaging to the human body.

Why does Sunset Valley Organics consider their berries to be nutrient dense? The answer to that is Sunset Valley Organics has gone the extra mile to put more minerals in their berries. They have done numerous tests on their berries nutrition and how it stands up to not only conventional competitors but other organic competitors, these results can be seen on their web page (sunsetvalleyorganics.com), the main result is that Sunset Valley Organics berries are denser in vitamins and minerals. This is a direct effect of our way of farming, a process that continues to grow and be modified according not only to the ground but also to the type and variety of berry being produced.

Mold exists in every indoor environment and many buildings contain amounts of mold that reach hazardous levels. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, 20 percent of all employees have major illnesses related to indoor air pollutants. “Sick building syndrome,” as funny as it sounds, is an accurate description of the problem.

Now here’s the solution: advanced science and technology. This new, green technology is one of the most effective and safe methods of mold removal in the market. Mold Gone 4 Good puts all indoor air quality issues to rest.

Mold Gone 4 Good has a process that is approved by the FDA and the USDA and most treatments are complete within 24 hours.

This method of mold treatment offers obvious health benefits, but the benefits are monetary as well. After water damage, Mold Gone 4 Good reduces the necessity of sheetrock, carpet, and furniture replacement.

Mold Gone 4 Good eliminates mold, as opposed to those “do-it-yourself ” methods, including bleach. Though at-home methods, like bleach, remove the appearance of mold, Mold Gone 4 Good’s methods remove the mold itself.

According to the EPA, 50 percent of all buildings contain mold. Mold Gone 4 Good’s methods reach behind walls and into areas that at-home methods cannot. This revolutionary mold removal method eliminates the elements that allows mold to thrive, effectively neutralizing the problem at its core.

Eliminate the threat of mold invasion and call Mold Gone 4 Good for their innovative, effective, and safe mold removal methods.
