INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF WORKFORCE PROFESSIONALS OREGON CHAPTER Chapter President· Ron Sohnrey CAPITAL SUBCHAPTER REPORT Submitted by: Tiffany Hibbard-Fraijo - Capital Subchapter President February 9, 2013 The Capital Sub-chapter elected Gina Heiner as Capital Sub-chapter President in 2012, she was unable to remain in this state, so Ron Sohnrey stepped in facilitating at least three Capital Sub-chapter meetings. In addition he spearheaded planning and coordination of a day long educational working with Dan QUinones and other sub- chapter members for an event the included a variety of speakers. The date was set and the event was marketed, but unfortunately very few registrations were submitted. The "Healthy Uti event was canceled, but the planning materials will be used in the future. When Gina Heiner determined she would not be returning to Oregon, the Capital Sub-chapter board discussed appointment of another member who could step in for the remainder of the IAWP year at our November 2012 meeting. Our Vice-President, Mark Hoeffler, also elected in 2012 had stepped down from his position so appointing another member for this vacant board positon was also discussed at this same meeting. I was asked to step in as Sub-chapter President and agreed, so the Capital Sub-chapter board appointed me. Dan Quinones was asked to step in as Vice President, accepted and was appointed by the board. At the same meeting I presented a sub-chapter budget that was discussed, modified slightly, and accepted by the members. Our Sub-ehapter Activities: - OSU & U of 0 Jacket sales Fundraising - sold high quality logo jackets purchased at a discount outlet and raised funds - This fundraiser went very well and we agreed to do it again this year. - Wreath Sales Fundraising - Once again Dan Quinones comes through with his contacts. He secured a wreath producer, obtained and excellent wholesale price and delived wreaths to be sold for the first two weeks of December 2012. A number of Sub-Chapter members were involved. The customer response was great and the product was well received by our customers - This fundraiser went extremely well and we agreed to do it again this year. - Community Service Project: Adopt a Family - For the holidays our Sub-chapter adopted a family from our neighborhood women's shelter for the second year in a row. Shelly Zander spearheaded the effort. We used $200.00 of our funds previously raised to purchase items for this family in need. Additional items were donated, including Christmas stockings for the children and a nice cloth bag for the mom sewn by member Alesa Nason. We plan on adopting a family again this year .. Holiday Family Event - Evening at the carousel - Our 8th annual event was a success. It has become a tradition for many families including mine. Member and non-member families enjoyed refreshments, and unlimited rides on the Salem Riverfront Carousel for only a nominal fee. Santa Claus was a great hit with young and old alike and we have pictures as proof. As mentioned, this is an annual event and we've already baoked a date for December 2013. Our sub-chapter holds monthly meetings - Our next meeting 2/15013. Unfortunately we did miss our January 20013 meeting as I was home with the flu. For the remainder of the IAWP year, we plan on holding two to three Sub-chapter - board only - planning meetings. We also plan to provide two to four 'lunch & learn' sessions of varying topics. We are also planning to obtain items for baskets to donate as raffle items for the Oregon IAWP State and International conferences.

To: Ron Sohnrey, Oregon Chapter I.A.W.P. From: Tammy Schroeder – Crater Lake Subchapter I.A.W.P. President Subject: Activities Report Date February 6, 2013

On November 6, 2012 a group of us attended an educational opportunity for people with Type 2 Diabetes at the Red Lion.

We held a Casino Day on November 12, 2012 and January 21, 2013 at 7 Feathers.

Since April of 2012 we have been working with Easter Seals, Jackson County

OEC, Southern Oregon VA Women’s Program Manager and the National Guard on a Veteran’s Baby Shower. With an increase of pregnancies among returning soldiers, there is a real need in Southern Oregon to show support to these Service Members and Veterans. We have set a date of April 30, 2013. We have created a flyer to solicit community support and sent info to the media for PSAs. We have started to collect items such as: Baby shower decorations, paper plates, baby items, cash donations and gift certificates. The Crater Sub Chapter will be the financial agent for handling funds and plans to hold a gift wrapping party once all items are collected. We will also facilitate baby shower games.

We are creating a Valentines Raffle Basket to raffle off and share the proceeds

with the Governor’s food drive and funds for the Baby Shower.
