India has imported organic chemicals of 85 billion rupees during the month of March 2013. Out of 85 billion rupees 73 billion rupees worth of goods are imported at 16 sea ports of India. While 9 billion rupees organic chemicals were imported through 8 different airports. 4 billion rupees goods were cleared through 27 internal container depots. India has imported organic chemicals from 114 countries across the globe. China is the biggest supplier with 21.2% market share. In India. 72 % of goods are imported in the state of Maharashtra and Gujarat. Looking at region wise breakup Asia and Asian countries supplies 72% goods to India. Within top 10 4 digit HS codes 71% of overall imports happens. 44 % of organic chemicals are imported in the top ten 8 digit HS CODES. 3 billion rupees Diloxanide furoate, Cimetidine, Oxyclozanide, Famotidine: Other are imported by air. Styrene imports stands at 7 billion. Half of organic chemicals are imported in India from North East Asian Countries. Top 10 supplying countries enjoy 75% of Indian Import market of organic chemicals. India has imported 61 thousand MTS worth RS. 5 Billion /- Toulene during Mar 2013. Korea and Singapore are major suppliers of toluene to India. Average price of import is RS. 75968/- . Israel was the cheapest supplier while Thailand origin toluene was costliest. Compared to previous month there was decline of 11.85% of total quantity imported. One should bear in mind that previous month was Feb had only 28 days.
