The “Little G Minor Symphony,” made famous in the opening scene of the Oscar-winning film “Amadeus,” followed by the sublime Flute and Harp Concerto which Mozart composed in Paris at the age of 22. While composing his Symphony No. 98 in London, Haydn learned of Mozart’s death in Vienna. Did he intend the theme of the 2nd movement, “God Save the King,” as a tribute to his fellow composer and friend?Artisan Quartet Toby Blumenthal
