The course provides an overview of multi-disciplinary management of CP and focuses on the role of orthotics. Course Objectives: After the completion of this course the participants should be able to

• Learn to assess the biomechanical abnormalities in CP.

• Understand the normal gait cycle and common gait abnormalities in CP.

• Get an overview of the advances in multidisciplinary management of CP.

• Understand the biomechanical principles and rationale of orthotic management in CP.

• Understand how these principles and considerations may be applied to an orthosis for a specific

functional impairment in CP.

• Describe the categories of components and materials from which orthoses are constructed and the

principal requirements for each category.

• Understand the indications for the use of commonly prescribed orthoses in CP.

• Understand the limitations and contraindications for the use of these orthoses.
