II Jai Sri Gurudev II ADICHUNCHANAGIRI UNIVERSITY Sri Adichunchanagiri College of Pharmacy, BG Nagara Organizes a four days Training program for IV B Pharm students “Pharmaceutical Industry: An Insight for Budding Pharmacos” In association with Pharma-Training Institute, (PTI) Bangalore 2018 ABSTRACT Sri Adichunchanagiri College of Pharmacy, BG Nagara organized Four days’ program entitled “Pharmaceutical Industry: An Insight for Budding Pharmacos” at our campus. The program was basically designed to sensitize and train the various aspects of Pharmaceutical Industries and its functions for the budding Pharamcos of Final year through number of sessions. This is program was conducted in association with Pharma training Institute (PTI), Bangalore. PTI is a no profit training organization, established to mainly to bridge gap between industry and academia by bringing industrial experts to budding students. Sri Adichunchanagiri College of Pharmacy, BG Nagara is organizing this event since 2016 successfully and students appreciated this program very much. This year the program was designed with two days intensive class room training by industrial experts and two days USFDA approved Industrial plant visit. The session began with the formal inauguration in the morning on 15.09.2018 followed by seminar from Mr. Umanandan Misra about the Overview of Global Pharmaceutical Industry, followed by “supply chain management” by Mr. R Kekere. Third in the afternoon session was conducted by Mr. Hari P Gupta on marketing and stress management. Second day of the PTI training was conducted on 6.10.2018 by two eminent speakers Dr. Deepak and Mr. Sateesh Karanth on Pharmacovigilence , Clinical Trials, Regulatory Affairs, Formulation Development and QA, QC and other Industrial aspects. The session was completed and concluded by Mr. Umanandan Misra by explaining various aspects in the industry such as accounts, job opportunities attitude building etc. Students visited sterile unit of KAPL, Banglaore and Group Pharma, Malur on 21.09.2018 & 22.09.2018. 25 Post graduate students also visited KAPL, Bangalore on 28.09.2018. Students witnessed the dosage form preparation and evaluation in the industry. Feedback was taken after each session and the students rating were assessed. This entire event was coordinated by Dr. Vedamurthy Joshi, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmaceutics, with the guidelines of Dr. B Ramesh, Principal SACCP. This program enabled the student and respective faculty to interact with the with industry experts. Trainers expressed their joy after interacting with budding Pharmacos. Overall the entire program was helpful in building the confidence and attitude of the student towards the profession.

INDUSTRIAL REPORT

SUMMARY

Sri Adichunchanagiri College of pharmacy organized an industrial visit as a part of

curriculum. Two Industrial visits were organized on in the month of September 2018 for

Final year B Pharm and M Pharm students. On 21st& 28th September, students visited

sterile unit of Karnataka Antibiotics & Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Bangalore. Students

witnessed dry powder filling process, QC, QA, Effluent testing plant, quarantine etc

departments (21st& 28th). Students also learnt about the importance of cleanliness and cross

contamination aspects. On 22nd September B Pharm and post graduate students visited

Group pharmaceutical Pvt Ltd, Malur facility. Here students learnt the manufacturing

of semisolids and Liquids, equipments used for the same. Further students learnt the

functioning of various departments such as QA, QC, ETP, Maintenance, Engineering,

AHU etc aspects. Both Pharmaceutical companies are ISO 9001:2000 certified company

and approved facility for USFDA. The Industrial visit event was made successful with help

of teaching faculty Dr. Nagesh & Mr. Purushottam, SACCP.
