Abstract: The purpose of tlds paper is to explore Kundalini as anenergetic phenornenon and deaelop a theoretical model to explain itsorigin. This paper will explore the hypothesis that Kundalini en-ergy originates from the combination of light energy from uniaersalenirgy iource ind our biopltotons at the quantum leael. This hap-pens when oirtual phototts at the same frequency manifest from theunirtersal enerw source and interact wiith the electrons in our body. This exploratioi includes the latest theories and studies deritsed fromlogical contemplation of quantum and energy thearies, eaen thoughsome of the'lrypotheses made and references used in this paper maybe outside of the paradigms of mainstream science.

In order to trace back causation to find the origin of Kundalinienergy, we would first need to ask where all energy comes from.Text6irok science says we receive energy from the sun indirectly byeating plants, or eating animals that eat plants. Howeve4 evidencehas staited to emerge ihat we may be able to receive energy from thesun by directly taking in the_sun's electromagnetic waves. InEat theSun, adocumentary about the practice of sun gazing, director Peter'Sorcher portrays individuals who fasted for long periods of time andmay have been nourished only by direct sunlight.

in additioru recent researches into the pineal gland may hold thekey as to how we can absorb energy dir-ectly fiom the sun. Theyse6m to point to the possibility that"the pineai gland directly senseslight energy and absorbs photons. The pineal gland is a pea--sizedgland that produces melatonin, which is a neurotransmitter that isiesponsible for making us relaxed and putting us to sleep by en-abling us to sense light and darkness. Th-e pineal gland is chlled thethirdive in spiritual-traditions, and is believed to 6e comected withspiritdal and psychic abilities. Russian scientists studying embryol-ogy discoverdd-that a two-month old human fetus develops a thirdei6 with photoreceptots, lens and nerve cells that are simiiar to ther6tinas. Furthermore, an article in Russian online media Praada.rusays there seems to be a link to the pineal gland from the retina. Inhis book The Source Field lnaestigations,Daiid Wilcock cites researchthat says the cells of the pineal giand closely resemble the photorecep-tor ganglion cells (nerve cells) of the retina. Wilcock also says manysubYma"mmals, suih as fistu frogs and birds, alr-eady detectli!;htwiththeir pineal glands. He also quotes A. F. Weichmann as saying that"the presence of proteins in the pineal which are normally involved in

44). He demonstrates that DNA gives off a large range of light fre-quencies that would cause a varie{r of frequenciEs in oilrer mdieculesof the body. From this, he postulafes that frifferent functions of DNAare performed bascd on different frequencieg and that cells mav uselight to self-repair. He also found tfiat Hving organisms exch'angelight emitted fiom each other; and concludes ihat"wave resonance"isused to communicate between living things. Also, the biophotonscreate a biophoton field that is desiribedas "a holosrapfuc fieldof standing waves which is able, through a broad speitnim of fre-quencies and polarizations and in close interplay with all materialstructures, to transmit signals with the speed of light to any place inthe organism and to actiizate or to inhibit biocheriical pro'cdsses, toorg_anize 1nattgr, gnd much 1nore" (Bischofl 2005, p. 3).

How does DNA store light? Wilcock discusses'findines by Rus-sian scientist Peter Gariaevthat DNA absorbs all light in its vicinityby apparently creating a vortex that attracts the li-eht. Even moreinteresting, after the DNA molecule is removed, the"re seems to be aforce that holds the spiraling light in the_same place for up to thirtydays. This phenomenon is-kn6wn as "The DNA phanto'm Effect,(Wilcock, 2077, p.161). Wilcock believes that the DNA moleculbcreates a duplicate energy field of itself within the universal energysource, whilh entrains'the light even in the absence of the DNX.ln Wilcock's view, The DNA Phantom Effect means a perfect holo-gram of our physical body can be created. He calls thi's ,,one of themost signilsant scientific discoveries in modern history,, (Wilcock,2011., p.162). Wlcoqf glrg reports of a phenomenon cilled delayed.luminescence. When light is shone on living cells, they would ,,drstabsorb it and then release an intense burst"of new light after a briefperiod of time" (Wilcock, 2011, p.171). Wilcock bdlieves that theDNA has_ a light energy store with a given capacity; if there is toomuch light, it would send it back out-. He posits that this is for aspecific purpose - to transmit information thit heals and establishesorder in the body.

Even more interesting, Rein and McCraty (2001) say that coher-ent brain wave patterns suclr as those produced bv iirtention canchange the structure of DNA. Emotions .such as ang6r; and feaq, cancontract or compress DNA. On the other hand, eirotions such asj.oy, gratitude, a1d love'can unwind or decompress DNA. Rein also

phototransduction (light sensing) in the retina, raises thc possibilitythat direct photic events may ocdur in the mammalian pin'eal gland""(Wlcock, 2017,p.58). Wilc6ck interprets Weichmann is sayifig thatthe cells in the pineal gJand are deteiting photons and sending"themto the brain through phototransduction.-

The retina in the back part of our eye contains two types of spe-cialized cells called photoreceptors thit respond to lighi.' These arecalled rods and con'es. Rods hnd cores url known is classic pholtoreceptors that convert light into signals that stimulate biololicalprocesses and enable sight. ln a landmark discovery in2007, scie*ntistFarhanZaidiQA}T) andhis research team found anon-rod non-conephotoreceptor in humans. These photoreceptors can synchronizecircadian rhythms to the twenty-four-hour Iiiaht/dark cycle as wellas enable.sight. This non-rod, non-cone pho"toreceptor'is a specialtype of photosensitive ganglion cell that iesponds directly td fishtbyincreasing the ratc aiwhlch it fires nervc ihpulses. Un[ike otHerretinal ganglion cells, these photosensitive gansiion cells are intrinsi-cally pfioto--sensitive, which means they arE ex"cited bv lieht even inthe absence of classic photoreceptors. From these disiovEries,Zaidiand team conclude that there ar-e two parallel and anatomicallv dis-tinct photoreceptor pathways: One thrbugh the classic photorecLptorIocated in the outer retina of the eye, the other tfuough a non-iod,non-cone photoreceptor that seems to be activated by"light ffst.

It also appears that the pineal gland has other inte-resiing but notwell-known functions. In Energy Medicine: A Scientific Basi's, famesOschman^says "the.pineal gland is the primary mignetoreieptor.Between 20 and 307i of pineal cells are magnetically-sensitive.' Ex-posure of animals to magnetic fields of various intensities alters thesecretion of melatonin, the electrical properties of pineal cells, andthei,r microscopic struc, ture" (Oschm'an,'2000, p. j02). Hence, hebelieves pulsations of the geomagnetic field, caused by Schumannresonance, may be detected by the pineal gland.. Rgrlsial embryologist Alexander Gurwitsch and German physi-

cist Fritz-Albert Popp discovered that the cells of all living beingsemit.a weak glow iir-the form of ultraviolet light. popp caTIs thesebiophotons, and says that although thev are"ultra-w'elk, thev are

lrig.hty coherent, so-they have a liser-li(e fight and quality. i,oppbelieves biophoton emis_sion connects cell, tiss-ues, and brgans wlthlhthe body and serves as the main communication networ[ and regu-lator foi all of life's processes. In her book The Sage Age, MaAnnaStephenson states: "This was an astounding disco'iery."What poppsuggested was that light, in some manner, *as responsible for life',(St-ephenson,20.08t p-53). Physicist David Bohm says: ,,All matterjs frozen light" (MiCartney, 2005, p.277).

Popp identifies DNA ai the source of biophoton emissions andcalls DNA the "master tuning fork in the body" (McTaggart ,2001, p.

fg"l4 that people-with coherent heart energthe DNA at will, while those with incoherent-l

so.- Fqrthermole, it seems,as if the change is made by flist energeti-cally changi"s +e D-NA phantom, which then changes the phylicalDNA molecule itself.

In addition, Gariaev's experiments show that acoustic wavesradiated by DNA can also cr-eate The DNA Phantom Effect. Dale(2009) cites Leonard Horowitz's research that demonstrates DNA

actually emits and receives both photons (the energy from light)and phonons (the energy from sound). Other researcfiers say so[ndstimulates the DNAto Cfeate information signals that spread fhroughthe body, and that the primary function of DNA is "not to synthesiZeproteins, but to perform bio-acoustic and bio-electrical signaling"(Dale, 201,0, p.143)- Research conducted by Richard Miil;r showsthat su.pe_rposed coherent waves in the celi"interact and form pat-ternsfirs! through sound,- and sec-ondly through light" (Dale, 2b10,p. 143). Gariaev's research also showd that DNA ian be activatedby sound, as well as can transmit sound. In an article entitled "TheDNA-wave Biocomputer," Gariaev and his associates postulatethat the DNA-wave iunctions as abiocomputer. They.or,ilrd" thutDNA can convert laser light into radio *al

"r by producing soli-

tons, which are ultra stablE \taves, to fonn diffraiti6n patter#s firstin the acoustic domain and then in the electromagnetic domain tocreate a quantum hologram, which enables the traislation betweena_coustical and optical holograms. Gariaev also shows that sound inthe form of langLage{requ6ncies such as words can repair chromo-somes damaged by X-rays. He concludes: "DNA canbe activatedwith Iinguistic expressions, such as mantras, affirmations, or othermeaningful sounds, like an antennae. In fum this activation modifiesthe hurnan bioenerg_y.fields, which transmit radio and light wavesto bodily structures" (Dalq 2070, p.143).

M*y scientists believe the vacuum of the universe, including thevacuum within our cells, is not empty at all. Quantum scientistjalsohold that there is a pervasive sea oi q'uanfum en"rgy in the universe.Nobcl Prize winner and father of quantum theory Max Planck, in a1944 speech given in Florence, Itaiy, stated: " Ali matter originatesand exists_only by virtue of a force which brings the particl"e of anatom to vibration and holds this most minute-solar s-vstem of theatom together. We must assume behind this force the existence of aconscious and intelligent mind. This mind is the matrix of all mat-ter." This universal eiergy provides a scientific basis and validationof the belief in many spliitual traditions that we are connected toeach other and to a uniirersal consciousness. It is likely this energythat has been known for thousands of years in many incient spiii-tual traditions. In an article entitled: "Senses, Filteis, and Sou?cesof Reality," Robert Jahn and Brenda Dunne postulate the existenceof a source of reality that they call source buf which has been eivendifferent labels in different cirltures. They identifu these labtiis as:" tao, qi, prana, uoid, akashic record, unus muidi, unkntiwable substratum, terra incognita, archetypalfield, hidden order, aborigirwl sensible muchness, implicate order, zero-point aacuum, ontic (or ontoTogical) leoel, undiuidedtimeless primordial reality" $ahn & Du.me, 2004;p.4). Other nameshave also been used by contemporary theorists'and researchers todescribe the universal energy sorirce. These includ eThe Fieldby Ly.nn

McTaggart, The Source Field by David Wilcock, uniaersal conscious-n_essby quantum physicist Amit Goswami, quantum plenum by MarkComings. This is also likely to be the collectiae unconscious describedby Carl |ung and the moyphogenetic field of Rupert Sheldrake. It mayeven be the unified field thatAlbert Einstein hid long postulated btithad not been ible"to prove. Many others call it tlieLero point field. For the purpose of thii paper, I wifl use the term the uniae'rsal eirrgysource to denote this energy.

In her book The Field, Lynne McTaggart says the universal energysource connects all matter in the universe bv waves. Citine researihby physicist Hal Puthoff, MgTaggart describes the univerial energysource as a "repository of all fields and all ground energy states andall virhral particles - a field of fields" (McTaggart, 2001;p.25). Shealso believes this field is the basis of the intbiconnectedness of allthings. "If. all matter in the universe was interacting with the zeropoint field, it meant, quite simply, that all matter wasinterconnectedand potentially entangled throughout the cosmos through quantumwaves" (McTaggart, 2007, p.1.3). It is believed that the universalenergy source is in a state of perfect balance so that it appears as avacuum, since all the energies cancel each other out, and that anyimbalance will create a disturbance that will eventuallv manifest asmatter. Hence, even tiny fluctuations of energy can disfurb the field.Furthermore, perhaps it is the universal enEigy source that keepsthe structure ind ttie very existence of the at"om intact. Researi.{rscientist Daniel Dzimano-(2003) sheds tight into how this processmay_ occur.

_ He cites Puthoff as saying that if an electron is orbiting

too far out from the nucleus, it radiates more energy than it receivesfrom the universal enerqy source and spirals inwaids to the positionthe positionfrom the universal energy source and spirals inwof stability. However, if-{he electron is brbiting too far iru it i.eceivesmo,re energy from the universal energy source than it is radiatingand so it moves outwards to a stable position. Dzimano believesthat the stability of matter itself is medihted by the universal energysource.

The universal energy source is believed to have virtually un-limited en_ergy. Micha6i Talbot, inThe Holographic L)niaerse, quotesDavid Bohm as saying: "Every cubic centimeter of empty spacecontains more energy than the total energy of all the ma[ter in theknown universe" (Talbo! 1992, p.51). Nobel Prize physicist Rich-ard Feynman, in attempting to give some idea of the magnitude ofthe energy within the universal energy source, says: "theenergy ina single cubic meter of space is enough to boil all the oceans o1-theworld" (McTaggart, 200I, p. 24).

, What exactly is this universal energy? There is some evidencethat ultravioletiight at a specific freque-ncy may be an energy carrierof the universal energy source. Wilcock (2011) reports of experi-ments by Gurwitsch which demonstrate that ultraiziolet light may

JZJJ

Page 6: Origin of Kundalini in Journal Jan2013 Copy

In Search of the Origin of Kundalini

be a signature of the universal energy source, but not the actualsource itself, "much like the ripple in the surface of a lake, from astone you iust dropped in, is not the stone itself" (Wilcock, 2011,p. 159). McTaggaft^(2001) reports of an experiment where DNAian absorb andscramble ultraviolet light and send it back out at adifferent freouencv. Popp found thaicells can be destroved withultraviolet U[trt, Uit if thty are then given a very weak puise of thesame wavelength, especially at 380 nanonmeters, the cells can almostcompletely recover in a process known asphoto repair. Hence, Popppostulates that energy from the universal energy source is strongestlnd mosthealing at fhe 380-nanomcter wavelength. Rollin McCraty(2003) from the Instibute of HeartMath suggests that information isenfolded outside the space/time world in the energy waveforms ofthe universal energy source.

Furthermore, a i{umber of scientists and researchers believe thereis a medium of energy exchangebetween the physical world and theuniversal energy ,olir.", alth"ough different pe6ple call it differentnames and the-re are different hypotheses a6ou[ what enables theenergy exchange. In the early 20th century, Nikola Tesla discoveredthe scalar wave. His experiments show that scalar waves propagateover long distances with virtually no loss in strength, unlike electro-masnetii waves that dissioate aird lose energv w-ith distance. Dale(2069) describes scalar wa'Jes as standing *aii,s that can go throughmatter and run at one and a half times the speed of light. She alsosays some scientists consider scalar waves the originating fields ofthil universe and the energy basis of the universal energy source.Oschman (2000) says scalar waves "propagate instantaneouslyeverywhere in space, undiminished by distance" (p. 206). Benor(2004) quotes Rein as saying that scalar energy (which Rein calls non-Hertzian energy) can profoundly influence biological systems. Benorclaims that a nrlmber of scientists have researched scalar energy andhave given it many names, including: "Non-Hertzianenergy, scalarenergy, longitudinal waves, motional fields, time-reversed waves, radiant eneigy, gravitational waves, free energy and cosmic ertergy"(Benol, 2004, p.430).

Others focus on particles as the energy carrier of the universalenergy source. In anhrticle entitled "Neutrino Experiment ReplicatesFastei-Than-Light Finding" published in Nature, Eugenie SamuelReich reports t-hat physiCisti found that the subatomic particlescalled niutrinos s""* io travel faster than light and postuiate, thatneutrinos are the particles responsible for energy exchange with theuniversal enersv source.

Cousens ltidOt cites physics philosopher Tom Bearden as sayingthat anergy is a fundamental componeht of universal energy, andthat this eirergy has no mass but hirs a limitless charge. -He believesuniversal eneriry manifests as tachyon fielcls, which can he describes

3435

as "a slightly contracted form of anergy, or of the virtual state tryingto become aparticle. A tachyon field, sort of a quasi-state of matte[,is thought to be made of quisi-particles. It exidts at the interface ofenergy and matter" (Cousens, 7986, p.108). Cousens also cites en-tomdlogist Philip Callahan as saying that the tachyon field energy ismanifested as "whirling, vertical forms of energy that precipitate nearthe speed of light as a particle of matter called a photon" (Cousens,1986, p.709).

Many researchers use the term virtual particles to describe par-ticles th-at come and go from the universal energy source and do notstay permanently in the physical world. Virtual particle is a conceptderived from the Heisenberg's lJncertainty Principle, which says thatit is impossible to kngw both a particle's position and its m-omen-tum exactly because the more precisely we determine one, the lesswe know ibout the other. This providLs a basis for the existence ofvirtual particles - high-energy particles that exist only momentarilyin the p-hysical world. In addition, the Quantum Electrodynamics(QED)-theory says charged particles like electrons interact by emit-tins and absorbine ohotons that are airtual, in that thev cannot be,"u"n o, detected ii'uny way; ancl, as a matter of fact,'the photoncxchanse is merelv the force of the interaction.

Virtrlal photoni are said to be a med"ium of light energy exchangebetween the universal energy source and the physical world. Re-ferring to Popp's biophoton research, Wilcock (2011) says, "we nowhave verv stfohs evidence that all life-forms on earth must continu-ally absoi'b phot"ons of light, and store them in their DNA in order tosuivive. Tlie Source Fie"ld apparently creates these virtual photonswhen there is rotating, uortex mov'ement within the fiel8 itself"(Wilcock, 2011, p.243). ln her book Souls of Distortion Awakening,

Jan Wicherink says: "Randomly virtual photons jump back and forthbetween the universal energy-source and our physical world...thephoton is called a virtual ph-oton since it comes and goes from the2ero point field and is no[ here to stay in the material world. It isonly irsed in the energy exchange betiareen the zero point field andthe-material world" (Wincherink 2008, p. 44).

Although there is still much debate asto whether virtual particlesare real or j'ust a hypothetical concept, there seems to be some supportwithin the scientific community that they are indeed real entities. Ina2006 Scientific America a*icle entitled: "Are virtual p_articles reallyconstantly popping in and out of existence? Or are they merely a

mathematical bookkeeping device for quantum mechanics?" physi-cist Gordon Kane gives credence to the existence of virtual particles, saying that they ire indeecl real and have observable effects thatphysicists have devised ways of measuring.'

As d iscussed above, many theorists andiesearchers believe thereis an input of energy or an energy exchange with the universal en-

ergy source at the quantum level. McTaggart (2001) postulates-thatour electrons may be constantly "refueling by tapping into thesefluctuations of empty space" (p. 2S). InToward a Deeper Meditatiott,Edgar Cayce and Jblin Van Auken say: "Virtual photirn cloud is theeleEtric fi6ta of energy and light thaf the mystic's describe and cor-relate to their chakras and Kundalini energy" (Cayce & VanAuken,1992, p.11,3).

I hypothesize that Kundalini energy originates from the combina-tion of light energy from universal energy source and ourbiophotonsat the quantum level. This happens when virtual photons at the samefrequency manifest from the universal energy source and interactwith the 6lectrons in our body. Philip Ball, in a 2003 article in N atu re,says that Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle holds that subatomicparticles or photons can appear spontaneously in empty space, pro-vided that they disappear promptly again. David Shiga, in a 2010article published in Nizu Scientist, states that physicists predicted inthe 1950s that "a very skong electric field would transfonn virtualparticles into real on6s that ire can observe. The field pushes themin opposite directions because they have opposite eleCtric charges, seoarhtine them so that thev cannot destrov one another" (Shiea,20i0). Perlaps our biofield, rihich is energizdd by vibratory thiugHtsand sound, induces virtual photons to stay in the physical worldpermanentlv and interact with the electrons in our cells.' The

"r,"Igy input from virtual photons causes our electrons to

become excit6d, resulting in the release of a large number of biopho-tons from our cells. One of the bases for this postulation is Popp'sassertion that unstable atoms in our body caube the release of lightenergy in the form of photons. He maiirtains that biophotons areconstantly being emitted from our cells, but says th-at energy from anextemal energy source causes us to emit more biophotons in order toachieve ur,

"qii'ilibrirm energy state. The vibratioi of virtual photons

and biophotons at the same resonant frequency produces an intense, coherenl, Iaser-like light that is Kundalini. Since both the triggeringvirtual photons and emitted biophotons are in phase, have the samepolarization, and travel in the same direction, a quantum leap inIight energy is produced. As a matter of fact, this is the amplificationpiocess that pioduces laser lieht. Stephenson (2008) says "a laserbroduces lisht waves that are"all in pliase with one another, whichiadically arfiplifies the signal, makirig it highly coherent. Some ofthis coherent light beam is fed back into the system making it evenmore coherent and thus more powerful" (p.227). Oschman (2000)reports that as early as the late 1960s, pfiysicist Herbert FrohlichprLai.t"d that the 6ody's living matrix'w'ould produce laser-like-oscillations.

Stephenson (2008)-describes an experiment in whichFr<ihlich applied energy to excite molecules, causing them to emitlight in the ?orm of phttons. When he increased thJenergy input,

the molecules began to vibrate in unison and eventually became socoherent that "they transmitted light as one unified anlenna" (Ste-phenson,2008, p.81).

I believe this coherent laser-like light energy is stored in ourDNA from birth, and may be considered the potential form of Kun-dalini energy prior to activation. Howeveq this does not necessarilymean that Kundalini energy remains constant throughout our lives.McTaggart's postulation that our electrons may be constantTy "re-fueling by tapping into these fluctuations of enipty space" (McTag-gart,1007, p. 25) may also hold true for Kundalini-energy-that itisreplenished through constant interaction with virtual photons fromthe universal energy source.

Earliec we discussed the delayed luminescence phenomenor;where the cells first absorb light, then release it as an intense burstof new light, and how this light is believed to contain informationfor healing and balancing the body. Can this be the process bywhich Kundalini energy is stored and released from our DNA?Interestingly, the sensing of light is often reported during spiritualexperiences, including Kundalini awakening. In her book Energiesof Transformation, Bonnie Greenwell says "experiences of light arecommonly reported by mystics during extremely heightened statesof consciousness, but also occur in lesser degree to meditators, andspontaneously to those in Kundalini pro, cesses" (Greenwell, 1988, p.57). It has always fascinated me as to why the symbol of Kundaliniis often presentcd as two coiled serpents. Perhaps this symbol refersto light stored in the double helix of the DNA molecule, before it isreleased as a burst of Kundalini energy to heal and elevate our entiresystem in order that we can reach oui highest potential?

I call Kundalini energy the combined light from indiaidual and uni-uersal cottsciousness as it arises from the integration of our individualenergy with the universal energy. The proless integrates universalenergy that spans time and space, which may be why Kundaliniawakening often generate immense force through the body as wellas produce a nonlocal. unitive exoerience.

'Furthermore, Kundalini may have long-term, transformationaleffects. As a coherent, laser-like Iight, it may be strong and focusedenough to change the very structure of ouiDN& causing it to un-wind and replicate, effecting permanent changes to our cells andour collective evolutionary path. I surmise this is the reason whyKundalini energy seems to lie dormant in us prior to activation, thatis, when the photons are coiled in the double helix of our DNA; whyit needs to gb through an integration process after activation; an8why-it se,ems tobe an energy that leads to permanent changes in ourpsychophysiological states.

Being a scientific exploratiorl this research attempts to discoverand understand Kundalini in energetic rather than in metaphysical

terms. From a metaphvsical perspective, Kundalini maybe a muchgreater phenomenoh thatt what icience may be able to define andexplain.

Science & Materialism"Many scientists are unaware that materialism is an assump-

tion: they simply think of it as science, or the scientific view ofreality, oi the 6cientific worldview. They are not actually taughtabout it, or even given a chance to discuss it. They absorb it bya kind of intellectual osmosis."
