The sun was formed 4.6 billion years ago.

It was formed when a dust cloud formed and the center became denser and hotter that triggered a nuclear reaction that made the sun into a full fledged star.

The sun is 92,901,600 miles away from Earth and is an average sized yellow star made up of mainly hydrogen and helium.

Page 3: Origins of the solar system

After the sun turned into a full fledged star lighter elements formed into gaseous outer planets.

The heavier elements made the more rocky inner planets.

Page 4: Origins of the solar system

When all of the suns hydrogen gets exhausted it will get hundreds of times brighter, absorbing Earth and becoming a red giant.

Then a nuclear reaction will occur making the sun a planetary nebula.

It will then become a white dwarf shrinking it’s size substantially.

Until lastly it will become completely extinguished becoming a black dwarf.

As everyone knows about once a month the moon goes from a waxing to a thin crescent to a half moon to a full moon and then waning in the same way but what exactly causes that to happen over and over again?

This occurs because of the moons movement around the sun and how we see the moon from Earth. Since the moon gets its light from the sun the phases occur because of the way the moon, sun and Earth are positioned. Depending on how much sun is hitting the moon the moon has less or more light.
