Orlando is located in the heart of Central Florida and its greater metropolitan area has a popula6on of over 2 million. The city dates back to the year of 1838 when the US Army established Fort Gatlin South at the height of the Seminole Wars, right where Orlando sits today. The city’s first name was Jernigan, aKer its first permanent seLler Aaron Jernigan. The name Orlando came aKer in honor of Orlando Reeves, a sen6nel soldier who spoLed an Indian aLack. "Orlando is nicknamed “The City Beau6ful” and its symbol is the downtown Lake Eola fountain. The city is also called “The Theme Park Capital of the World” since it’s the home of theme parks like Walt Disney World, Universal Studios Florida, Island of Adventures, SeaWorld, Aqua6ca and Wet ‘n Wild Water Park. The city’s famous aLrac6ons form the backbone of Orlando’s tourism industry, making Orlando the most visited city in the USA. Orlando also has many natural parks and over 2000 lakes, making it a perfect seYng for outdoor ac6vi6es and water sports. Orlando is home to the Orlando Magic Major League Basketball team, Orlando City Major League Soccer Team and to the University of Central Florida (UCF), the second largest university campus in the United States in terms of enrollments. Orlando is also home to Valencia College, ranked among the na6on’s top Colleges. The Aspen Ins6tute awarded Valencia the first Aspen Prize for College Excellence. In 2015 Valencia College was ranked #2 College in the USA, losing it’s first place to Santa Fe College located in Gainesville, FL. "Orlando is a fun city, with lots of things to do. It's also very close to the beach and the Florida Everglades. The weather is mostly warm, with some cold days in the winter but it's never too cold. The city is big and very spread out. It can take up to one hour by car to go from the east side to the west and from the north to the south. Even though Orlando is a big city and a very popular touris6c des6na6on, the residen6al areas where students live and go to school are just like any other city in the US. These areas actually have a small town atmosphere and are very safe and friendly.

Central Florida Prep is a Private Day School located in Orlando, FL. The school offers a structured curriculum, which meets and exceeds guidelines for Orange County Schools. Students have the opportunity to take honors or AP courses on campus and they may also par6cipate in dual enrollment classes and earn college credits. CFP provides interna6onal students with a personalized educa6on program that prepares them for admission into top choice universi6es in the United States and abroad.
