DR. MATIAS ANGHILERI - ARGENTINA

Achieving Excellence Step by Step In this lecture, Dr. Matias Anghileri will share with us simple mechanics and practical clinical tips to obtain outstanding results. He will show us how to solve complex Transversal, Vertical and Sagittal cases. He will walk us through his 15 years of experience with self-ligating brackets demonstrating step by step how to solve every day challenges and how to make the most of the Damon System.

DR. SKANDER ELLOUZE - TUNISIA - Moderator at the Ormco Forum

Specialist in orthodontics (CECSMO) at Bordeaux University with a post-graduate degree in Lingual Orthodontics from Paris V University, Dr Ellouze is an international speaker and gives lectures about passive self-ligating systems, lingual orthodontics, and skeletal anchorage. He has also designed treatment protocols that are currently taught in numerous European Universities and is the author of numerous books, scientific papers, and clinical studies.

DR. DWIGHT DAMON - USA

Guest of honor for the Opening Session

DR. JACQUES-YVES ASSOR - FRANCE

Damon system archwire sequencing optimizationThe Damon system is both a modern orthodontic system and a treatment philosophy based on the concept of "light forces". These low forces are produced by high-tech archwires that should be used wisely. Adhering to a strict protocol based on the optimization of the archwire sequences throughout treatment ensures reliable, reproducible results. This theoretical workshop will cover all 4 Damon system treatment phases, emphasizing the specificities of each stage.

DR. TIM BANDEEN - USA

PLENARY SESSION:The era of Insignia, patient experience, and airway Orthodontics has been revolutionized by improvements in techniques and treatment planning that have forever altered how we approach patient care. Insignia Custom Smile Design used with the Damon System allows for visualization of treatment goals for planning that allows the doctor to have overall easier appointments while maintaining quality of care and while vastly improving the patient experience. Dr. Emily Bandeen & Dr. Timothy Bandeen have been using Insignia as their standard of care since January of 2010. Dr. Timothy Bandeen will explain the philosophy, treatment protocols, and daily use of Insignia. Also, he will discuss airway changes seen in their patients. Discussions will include how to recognize airway problems prior to treatment and then how to deliberately treat those problems with orthodontics and dental sleep medicine all while improving patients’ smiles.

WORKSHOP:Bonding with the Insignia SystemProper technique is essential for effective use of Insignia. The workshop will include details and demonstration of bracket-bonding with Insignia. Most importantly, this workshop includes hands-on practice with the bonding techniques including time for individual assistance and personal discussion with the presenting doctors. The workshop will be led by Dr. Emily Bandeen and Dr. Timothy Bandeen who have treated thousands of patients with Insignia.

DR. ZAKARIA BENTAHAR - MOROCCO

The key to successful and stable orthodontic treatmentsAt the end of the treatment, patients aim to achieve a good esthetic result. For the orthodontist, this is not the only aim. Indeed, the orthodontists try, daily, not only to achieve an esthetic result but also to obtain treatment stability. Many factors contribute to achieving these two goals. One of the most important factor is finishing. The aim of our presentation is to show the efficient way to perform finishing at the beginning, in the middle and at the end of the treatment.

MRS CHRISTELLE CAUCHOIS - FRANCE

Effective tools and communication - Practice communicating Relations in practices are becoming increasingly complex. Be able to perfect your relational mode and find the right balance between affectivity and efficacy is an art and requires the right positioning when confronted with the patient. Today, we can no longer dispute the importance of the relational attitudes of care givers in the therapeutic relationship. Communication is, therefore, a professional tool and successful communication with patients is the key to the success of your practices. Come and develop your social skills and know-how in this workshop dedicated exclusively to dental assistants. Genuine mental gymnastics that will make a difference in the field. We propose a little theory, a pinch of good advice, a touch of humor and a lot of practice.

DR. DAVID GONZALEZ-ZAMORA - SPAIN

Boost orthodontic efficency with the Insignia Approver processInsignia is an integrated system of 3D digital orthodontics that includes orthodontic planning software, customized brackets, wires and placement guides delivering precise and predictable outcomes. The orthodontist can get customized manufactured set of brackets and wires based on a digitally assisted case design allowing to achieve faster treatment with great results, visualizing the final occlusion before the treatment. To ensure success in the final result of the treatment, it is necessary to plan and establish a protocol for the review of clinical cases through the Approver Interface software, in addition to knowing the clinical implementations of each tool.Throughout the workshop, Dr. David González Zamora will explain step by step the entire process of reviewing clinical cases, as well as the treatment objectives that can be expected through a digital design.

DR. FRANÇOIS DARQUÉ - FRANCE

Traction of impacted teeth with bone anchorage Numerous biomechanical issues are associated with the treatment of impacted cuspids: the accuracy of the traction, the complex mechanical system to be implemented, and the associated anchorage. The accuracy of the direction of traction of the impacted tooth is a major challenge with regard to periodontal preservation and protecting the adjacent teeth. Cuspid disimpaction protocols using mini-implant anchorage provide a solution to all clinical situations of buccal, palatal or transposed impacted cuspids.

DR. ERWAN BOUDEHEN - FRANCE

Quality photographs: an incredible communication tool in orthodontic practices. The prominent role of dental assistants. Why? How?The first part of this presentation will be devoted to the internal and external communication in orthodontic practices through photographs. Secondly, we will define the potential role of the dental assistant in this profes-sional project. Finally, we will address some basic techniques required to achieve good exo-buccal and intra-buccal photos that can be easily used.

Building on the Damon System Legacy: Innovative Features and Benefits of the New Damon Q2The Damon System passive self-ligation appliances and wire progressions have proven to be an innovative method of providing orthodontic care. While the original concepts devised by Dr. Dwight Damonstill hold true to the Damon System of today, the manner in which the System has evolved has been influenced by an increased understanding of how specific applications can benefit the progression of the patient's care and the efficiency in providing the care for the orthodontist. Throughout this evolution, the orthodontists as customers, have contributed to the developmental stages of advancements by providing their input of specific issues or concerns they may have seen during orthodontic treatments. Ormco has responded with their research and development team's newest improvement in the Damon System, the Damon Q2 appliance. Dr. Mayhew served an advisory role in this development and is one of the first ortho-dontists to utilize the Q2 in his practice. A review of the Damon System and the current improvements with the Q2 will be highlighted in Dr. Mayhew's presentation supported by actual patient case reports.

DR. GUALTIERO MANDELLI - ITALY

Orthodontic treatment from childhood to late adolescence or through to adulthood: recommendations for optimal systematic use of the Straight Wire-Passive Self Ligation-Multi Torque SystemCurrent orthodontic treatments generally rely on early intervention of care.In fact, what is referred to as orthopedic and functional treatment, namely the combined action of early treatment (phase 1) and dento-alveolar treatment at the end of puberty (phase 2), enables either complete or partial correction of the various forms of malocclusions seen in children and young teenagers, provided that care is properly planned. However, patients in late adolescence or who have reached adulthood are becoming increasingly demanding in terms of smile esthetics (mini-esthetics and micro-esthetics), increasing the need for orthodontic techniques that improve these esthetics while remaining as simple and effective as possible. Based on these preliminary observations, the aim of this presentation is to provide you with the fundamentals for optimal systematic use of the Straight Wire-Passive Self Ligation-Multi Torque System, during orthodontic treatment of firstly children, and secondly, of adolescents who have reached the end of puberty or adults.

DR. MARIE MEDIO - FRANCE

Memotain®: the retainer of the futureObjectives : 1- Talk about the history of Memotain®

2- Describe the implementation process 3- Look at the various day-to-day applications

Relapses following orthodontic treatment are every orthodontist’s worst nightmare. In recent years, numerous authors have designed different retainers but have not yet found the magic remedy. Bonded retainers seem to be the most satisfactory for maintaining lower incisor-cuspid dental alignment. Furthermore, if occlusion of the upper maxillary is satisfactory, space for the bonded wire is restricted. Finally, treating adults with loss of periodontium is complicated.

We will describe Memotain®, a durable CAD/CAM retainer that is simple to position with no major disadvantages. An instructional video made by "French tooth" will persuade you of its ease of use.

DR. FRANK POURRAT - FRANCE

How to improve our treatments using a diode laserObjectives : 1- Supplement finishing with micro-esthetics 2- Minimize transition times with regard to slow dental progression or impacted teeth 3- Understand the periodontal approach to performing gingivectomiesA survey of dentists, periodontists, and orthodontists conducted by Burke highlighted that orthodontists should and could perform laser treatments, without overshadowing the others. We have divided this workshop into 2 parts for the diode laser applications:- How to reduce treatment slowdown- How to improve finishing using micro-esthetics after evaluation of the WES (White Esthetic Score) and the PES (Pink Esthetic Score)Practical work involving the esthetic contouring of the gingiva will round off the session.

Instrument management and optimization from the chair to the sterilizing roomThis talk will be the opportunity to highlight the sterilization cycle in detail: from the chair to the sterilizing room, and how to look after orthodontic instruments. We will also look at how to maintain optimal instrument flow before, during and after an orthodontic procedure.

DR. LUIGI TAIARIOL AND DR. GUILLAUME JOSEPH - FRANCE

Management of surgical cases todayOrthognathic surgery is sometimes necessary to attain orthodontic treatment objectives: function, stability, and esthetics. Pushing orthodontic boundaries can have serious consequences for the patient. So knowing whether to choose a compromise or not remains tough and requires experience. With the democratization of surgical protocols, technical advances have improved patient experience and results, from both an orthodontic and a surgical point of view. This progress does not, however, take away the need for good coordination between the various people involved to ensure success. During this workshop, we will aim to present an innovative, modern approach to treating our patients.

DR. PHILIPPE VAN STEENBERGHE - BELGIUM

PLENARY SESSION:From Damon to Insignia: Is it useful? Is it for me?Medical professions are rapidly changing, but above all patients are much more informed than before, they compare, are more demanding and in some cases, the courts intervene. Orthodontics, technical by nature, is no exception. Digital technology is invading our lives and our practices and is likely to metamorphosize the way we work. In our regions, countries, we all depend on local legislation and habits; we think we are unique and that this doesn't apply to our specific case.In day-to-day clinical situations, with sensitive patients, what are the implications of implementing or not the most up-to-date solutions available? Does it apply everywhere? How and for who? What are the solutions? I invite you to take this road together and gather all the relevant information you need.

WORKSHOP:Prescription Insignia workshop: plan your future works of artHow can you capitalize on your training and your experience as a practitioner rather than spending hours trying to juggle with virtual 3D teeth when you should be with patients? I propose structuring the prescription process to establish a summary document per patient, including your objectives, the data required for the design, and the desired clinical scenario. This "scenario" is the ideal tool to provide an optimal workflow and help you make the right choices to become more efficient (more effective with less effort).
