Oropi School is a semi-rural school located in a spacious, attractive setting close to Tauranga City. It caters for students in Years 1-8. Oropi School has a roll of approximately 250 students.

International students will:

• be placed in a class of their year level.

• be expected and encouraged to participate as fully as possible in all areas of the NZ school curriculum, with special consideration given to their level of English Competency.

• be withdrawn on a regular basis for intensive small group English instruction, (oral, written and reading,)

• have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities;

- sporting opportunities - music lessons - ICT (Information Communication Technology)

- Camps for students in Year 3-8 - Ski trip for students in Year 4-8 - Technology for students in Year 7&8.

Semi-Rural • Our school is small community school with approximately 250 children

from ages 5-13 (Years 1-8)

• It is located 19km from Tauranga City centre, in a peaceful rural setting surrounded by farms and lifestyle blocks.

• Oropi School has a bus service operating from John’s Produce Shop, located 13km from Oropi School which allows students from surrounding areas to attend the school.

School Setting • We offer modern and dynamic learning environments with excellent

resources.

• We have a heated swimming pool, astroturf courts, a playground with a flying fox, sandpits and areas for water play, school gardens and a gully full of native trees where children can go and explore.

Inclusive Environment • We pride ourselves on having a high trust environment where children

have many opportunities to interact with one another while working and playing together.

Learning Opportunities • Alongside core NZ Curriculum subjects, our community offers a diverse

range of resources and learning opportunities related to the local environment.

• Oropi School also offers Asian language learning programmes with all children learning Mandarin from a trained languages teacher.

• We offer a range of extra programmes to enrich your child’s education such as swimming lessons, instrumental and vocal music tuition, camps from Year 3-8, summer and winter sports, garden projects and leadership opportunities.

Chinese Experience • Oropi School has welcomed numerous groups of Chinese visitors, both

adults and students. Along with this Oropi School has had groups of students visit China.

• Oropi has established links with educational institutions in Nanchang, Xiamen and Beijing with our Principal, Mr King having personally visited these institutions.
