THURSDAY Business Insights| D O C TO R S A N D S TA FF
  Jonah BergerCrafting Contagious Ideas
Contagious combines groundbreaking research with
powerful stories. If you’ve wondered why certain
stories get shared, e-mails get forwarded, or videos
go viral, Contagious explains why, and shows how
to leverage these concepts to craft contagious
content. This presentation provides a set of specific,
actionable techniques for helping information
spread—for designing messages, advertisements, and
information that people will share.
Ben BurrisPractice DifferentiationStand out in a sea of mediocrity and engage your community to grow your practice.
We are in the people business working on teeth, not
the teeth business working on people! Technology
is all the rage in orthodontics these days. However,
the profession is still first and foremost about active
listening, effective communication, forming a
basis of trust and delivering on your promises. In a
day of increasing competition, shrinking margins
and escalating costs, Dr. Burris will divulge the
surprisingly simple secrets to growing a massively
successful practice anywhere in the country. Listen,
internalize, implement and grow!
Steve CurtainDelight Your Customers: Raise Customer Experience from Ordinary to Extraordinary.
While employees consistently execute mandatory job
functions for which they are paid, they inconsistently
demonstrate voluntary customer service behaviors
for which there is little or no additional cost to their
employers. Very few refer to the true essence of their
job, which should be their highest priority-to create
delighted customers who will be less price sensitive,
have higher repurchase rates, and enthusiastically
recommend the company or brand to others. Without
this customer focus, all that exists is a transaction,
and transactional service does not make a lasting
positive impression or inspire loyalty.
Lou ShumanTechnology Takes on Tradition:Leveraging the best of practice marketing from both worlds to maximize new patient acquisition and patient retention.
It seems like it happened overnight. Years of time
tested traditional methods of growing your practices
and communicating with your existing patients
replaced with Search Engine Optimization, social
networks, website strategies, blogging, Facebook
posting, likes, reviews, Google ranking, and much
much more. So, how and where do you spend your
time and energy today to most effectively market
your practice? How do you best use 2015 Social
Media and Internet technologies to acquire new
patients and build patient loyalty?
Jon AcuffHow to Fight Fear, Escape Average and Do Work that Matters.
Three things have changed the path to success:
Boomers are realizing that a lot of the things they
were promised aren’t going to materialize, and they
have started second and third careers. Technology
has given access to an unprecedented number
of people who are building online empires and
changing their lives in ways that would have been
impossible years ago. The days of “success first,
significance later,” have ended. There are only two
paths in life: average and awesome. The average
path is easy because all you have to do is nothing.
The awesome path is more challenging, because
things like fear only bother you when you do work
that matters. The good news is, Start gives readers
practical, actionable insights to be more awesome,
more often.

The key to establishing and maintaining a vibrant
patient base is developing contagious practice
marketing strategies that will become self-reinforcing
and take on a life of their own. Building upon what
you will learn on day one of the Congress, this
Implementation Plan will look at differentiating the
practice experience, thus shaping your patient’s
experience so that they will become practice
promoters. Once your patients become your
advocates, your base will achieve an escape velocity
that requires little (if any) traditional marketing input.

about:
• Attracting, Training and Motivating an
Inspired Team
• Attracting, Motivating and Retaining
committed patients
• Expanding and Motivating a Loyal Professional

solutions available, but will these “cookie-cutter”
solutions work for the Dr. and team in your practice?

FRIDAY CCOSummit | FO R D O C TO R S
Antonino SecchiIntroduction to the Complete Clinical Orthodontics System and how it can improve your practice.
The CCO System has surfaced as a strong and fast
growing self-ligating orthodontic system that has
been very well received. This presentation will
review the basics of the CCO System, why the CCO
System was developed and what its main goal as
an orthodontic system is. Also, the core of the CCO
treatment mechanics will be reviewed.
Raffaele SpenaPFO (Periodontally Facilitated Orthodontics), TAD (Temporary Anchorage Device) and the CCO System: How to deal with complex and risky orthodontic movements.
Recent innovations have increased efficiency,
improved clinical results and simplified complex
and risky orthodontic movements such as the
Periodontally Facilitated Orthodontics (PFO). PFO is
proposed as a method to reduce anchorage needs,
facilitate complex orthodontic movement and allow
corrections otherwise difficult to achieve. The
different aspects, indications, contraindications and
limits of “flapless” and “open flap” corticotomies
will be discussed. The PFO surgical procedures to
produce the alveolar corticotomy, the role of grafting
and the combined orthodontic treatment with the
CCO System (appliances, proper wire sequence
and management) will be highlighted with several
complex clinical cases.
Ryan TamburrinoDiagnosis and treatment planning of the transverse dimension.
The skeletal transverse dimension is one of the most
important aspects of orthodontic diagnosis, yet is
also the most frequently overlooked part of a patient’s
analysis. Our profession has numerous treatment
strategies for the sagittal and vertical dimensions, but
achieving transverse goals, as well as why they are
necessary, does not appear to be a standard objective
among all practitioners. Once the transverse treatment
goals are understood, a proper diagnosis is easy to
obtain, and strategies to achieve the goals can be
systematically applied in every practice, for every
patient that is treated.
Julia Garcia-BaezaOrthodontic minor tooth movement to achieve major restorative results.
For some patients, even after orthodontic treatment
is done the smile doesn t look as beautiful as it
should. In such cases a multidisciplinary approach is
essential. The understanding of facial proportions,
teeth size and shape as well as the cooperation of
an aesthetic dental specialist will help us customize
our patient’s smile. This is the key to creating the
difference between an unpleasant result and a natural
and beautiful smile. See how the orthodontist can
help achieve major restorative results by doing minor
tooth movements.
Rebecca Bockow Goal Oriented Treatment Planning in Corticotomy-facilitated Orthodontics.
The combination of orthodontics with simultaneous
alveolar decortication and bone grafting allows for a
wider range of tooth movements while also reducing
risk factors that lead to future gingival recession.
This can be accomplished by identifying the limits
of traditional orthodontic tooth movement, knowing
which patients are great candidates for this combined
treatment and understanding treatment sequencing.
Case selection, proposed direction and amount of
tooth movement, and treatment timing must all be
considered in order to achieve the best outcomes.
Martin PalomoTo 3D or not to 3D, is that the question? Using CBCT in Clinical Orthodontics.
The digital volumetric tomography era has begun,
and we now have access to significant additional
diagnostic information. Now we can determine if
an orthodontist should be using three-dimensional
(3D) imaging and address if Cone Beam Computed
Tomography (CBCT) is going to replace the
cephalogram. By highlighting, extracting and using
volumetric tomograms for orthodontic reasons, from
posterior buccolingual inclination to surface area
analysis and volumes, this presentation will show
how CBCT is changing the way we practice.
