• ≈1250 of 2600 students transfer to OP for specialty program participation
• NJROTC program - Distinguished Unit with Academic Honors, nationally ranked
• OP graduates study across Virginia and at universities such as: Stanford, MIT, Princeton, Dartmouth, Colby, Clemson
• Since 2012 OP students have received over 32 military academy appointments and over 30 full ROTC scholarships

PLTW Coursework
Principles of Biomedical Sciences• This introductory course
prepares students for project-based learning through design, data analysis, and career exploration.
• Topics include: – Applied Biology– Forensics– Microbiology– Public Health
• Students develop skills in areas such as health, forensics, and biology.
Human Body Systems
• This course builds upon the previous course, going beyond basic anatomy and physiology, students discover relationships between body systems, focusing on homeostasis.
• Topics include:
– Introduction of all major body systems
– Health policy and advocacy
– Solving real-world medical scenarios

PLTW Coursework
Medical Interventions• Students will investigate the variety of
interventions involved in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease.
• They will explore how to:– Fight infections– Screen and evaluate our DNA code– Prevent, diagnose and treat cancer– Prevail when organs in the body
begin to fail.
• They will perform high-level labs including: ELISA, bacterial transformation, DNA testing, DNA microarray, building a model prosthetic, practicing suturing, and modeling laparoscopic surgery.
Biomedical Innovations
• This final course allows students to apply their previous knowledge to create, develop, and research innovations in science, medicine, and health.
• Focus is on discovering and creating solutions to current science, medicine, and health challenges.
• Topics include:
– Emergency room development
– Epidemiology
– Molecular Biology
– Students will develop and present a long-term research project

Automotive Technology
The Automotive Technology Program
includes three courses:
– Automotive Technology I
– Automotive Technology II
– Automotive Technology III
Students begin the sequence as
sophomores, so generally study a PLTW
Engineering course as freshmen.
Students may transfer to OP for
automotive technology as freshmen.
