Based on the ‘lift boat’ rack and pinion jacking methodology, the PONTUS Active Heave

Compensation (AHC) system offers a robust all electric hook mounted system for both ‘in air’

and ‘subsea’ lifting applications.

Consisting of a lift column, support chassis / drive collar, an electrical power unit (EPU) or battery

pods if equipped for subsea operations, motion reference unit (MRU) and control system, the

PONTUS AHC system is a simple and robust modular arrangement designed specifically for hook

mounted applications.

Pontus AHC

The key to the PONTUS arrangement is the unique use of a rack and pinion arrangement

(patent pending) that allows motors to be used in place of more traditional cylinders.

With motors, more specifically electric motors, the PONTUS can offer very high levels of

control and accuracy inherent in any electrically based system. The PONTUS is also fitted

with Regenerated Current Management System (RCMS) to heavily reduce the operational

power requirements of the system.
