Arts Requirements: All Music and Visual Arts courses fulfill the graduation requirements for Arts. This symbol in the other departments will indicate the courses that fulfill this requirement.Advanced Placement Information: The Advanced Placement (AP) Program is an opportunity for high school students to pursue chosen areas of interest and receive credit for college-level course work while in high school. Course-specific AP Examinations are administered each year in May and results may be sent to Colleges and Universities for potential credit . Authorized AP courses carry a weighted grade and are identified as such on students’ transcripts. AP courses require students to read large amounts of text outside of class, analyze and interpret complex material, and write extensively. Curriculum modifications include: accelerated pacing, in-depth study of topics, interdisciplinary units, and development of critical and creative thinking skills. On average, AP courses require students to complete approximately one to two hours of homework per day to be successful. As indicated by the AP Program, “It’s important for students to think about the amount of work they’ll have so they can succeed in the courses they choose.” Tips for AP Success 2013, College Board.
