NEW ZEALAND The full-time Otago MBA is located at the accredited University of Otago School of Business. Established in 1869, the University of Otago is New Zealand’s top-ranked university for research. Otago’s historic campus is situated in the heart of Dunedin, in the beautiful South Island.

Dunedin is the perfect place in which to live and study. Students take advantage of the city’s proximity to some of the best natural environments New Zealand has to offer. These include the world heritage site of Milford Sound, the Queenstown lakes and ski-fields, and the pristine coastal landscape that surrounds Dunedin city.

A GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE FROM

THE EDGE OF THE WORLD Each Otago MBA class is guaranteed to be a rich multicultural mix of people from a variety of sector backgrounds.

▶ Students build a wide ranging and valuable international network.▶ Cultural awareness and understanding is developed in the course

of study.▶ Varied perspectives are valued and seen as a strength in building

business relationships.▶ Common threads in global business are reinforced.

Many components of the Otago MBA such as a dedicated International Business course, and the popular International Exchange option with one of our partner universities, reinforce our students’ global awareness.

SMALL CLASSES, BIG IDEAS Otago MBA students share their New Zealand MBA experience with a tightly-knit group of colleagues. Our small classes of up to 40 students promise:

▶ faculty who get to know each student▶ a friendly, service-focused experience▶ in-depth discussion based learning▶ a business mentor for every student ▶ strong connections and lifelong friendships▶ more opportunities to practise new skills.

Admission into the Otago MBA is rigorously managed to preserve our signature small classes, as well as ensuring a diverse range of backgrounds is represented.

LEARNING AND

TEAMWORK Working in teams called syndicates is a key feature of the Otago MBA. Our students are high achievers with an extraordinary desire to perform at the top of their game. In the business world, this alone does not guarantee success. Personal productivity almost always requires being part of a larger interdependent team. This means success calls for a particular set of leadership skills and attributes that address the needs of the team and not just the outcome.

Many of the key skills developed on the programme are not easily taught in the classroom. “Soft skills” such as conflict resolution, empathy, and cross cultural awareness are practised and developed as a consequence of working in syndicates. By constantly learning about how people interact, students learn experientially how to become effective leaders.

Syndicate assignments include formal and informal presentations, case-study analysis and reports. Individual learning is also a fundamental part of the course. Therefore, assessment also includes a variety of individual reports, essays, presentations and examinations.
