She was born on Dec. 17, 1920, in Hermosa Beach, Calif. to Robert and Gladys Hall. After moving to Berkeley she attended Willard Jr. High and gradu- ated Berkeley High schools. In 1943 she graduated from Cal and married Wilfred (Wolf) Houghton Hodgkin. After World War II Wilfred graduated from the Episcopal Seminary and in 1949 the couple embarked on their life long ser- vice to the church, starting with St Peter’s By The Sea in Morro Bay. Other churches include St. Timothy in Danville, All Saints in San Leandro, St. Clement in Berkeley, St Paul’s in Walnut Creek and Christ Church in Alameda. While helping with church activ- ities Ann also raised the couple’s four children; Esbeth, Wilfred, Barratt and Donald. Ann loved boating on the bay, vacations at Tahoe, English his- tory, many trips to England and the Alameda Shakespeare Club. In 1997 Ann and Wolf retired to St. Paul’s Towers in Oakland. She is sur- vived by sons: Barratt and Donald, grandchil- dren: John Hodgkin, Philip Hopkinson and Rebecca Donnelly, and great grandchil- dren: Mary and Sara Donnelly. She was the beloved great aunt of Bronko Henderson, aunt of James Westervelt III and sister to Stephen Westervelt and James Westervelt II. An accountant for more than 50 years, Patricia was last employed by Bruzzone Research of Alameda before her retirement in 2011. She is also survived by her sister, Patricia Anne Everingham Adams Nottingham. Anne was the principal harpist for the San Francisco Opera from 1954 to 1988. She was the second, then the principal harpist for the San Francisco Symphony from 1954 until 1972. She also played with the San Francisco Ballet, the Lyric Ensemble, and many other venues. She passed on her technique and passion for the harp to many stu- dents. Besides private harp lessons she was a faculty member at both Mills and Holy Names colleges. He was a loving and caring husband to Andonia Mastorakos and a com- passionate and thoughtful father to Deno and Maria Mastorakos. James was also a compassionate grand- father (Papou) to three grandchil- dren: Eleni, Dimitri and Panayioti Mastorakos. To many others, Jim was an uncle, a cousin, and a friend. Jim was born in San Diego. Shortly after his birth, he took a trip to Athens, Greece with his moth- er to visit his two aunts. During their visit, his mother unexpect- edly passed away of pneumonia leaving his two aunts to raise him. At the age of 13, Jim joined the Greek Underground in Athens. His job was to report to concentra- tions of enemy troops and deliver equipment. Jim was picked by the German SS troops and served many months in a German occupation camp. He was also picked and held hostage by the Communists during the revolution in Greece. After Jim finished high school in Greece, he returned to San Diego. Upon his return, Jim attended San Francisco State University. Shortly after, he met his wife Andonia, and they married in 1955 in Stockton. Throughout Jim and Andonia’s life together he maintained fam- ily businesses, was involved in his children and grandchildren’s lives, and supported Andonia as she pursued a career in teaching. Further, Jim was a member of the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Ascension and a brother at the Orinda Lodge, Number 122 F & A.M. He was also a 32nd degree Mason at the Scottish Rite Bodies of Oakland. Jim, Jimmy, Dad, Papou, Uncle, Theo, Cousin, and Friend, repre- sent the many names for James Mastorakos. Although he was a dif- ferent person to all of us, together we will remember him forever.
