There are certain elements in the opening of this film that were just done to perfection in my opinion. For example Jack Nicholson’s voiceover dialogue, is so strong I remembered it word for word after the first time watching the film. The shots also are excellent; the establishing shots used really give you straight away the style of the movie and the use of tracking shots along with iconic music stick to Scorsese’s conventions. The use of title credits as well at the beginning I think I will replicate in my project. I will also try and replicate other favourite elements when completing my project.

Also the lighting in the opening of the film is fairly low-key, not dark, but still low-key so I may take inspiration from this also.

The strong points to this opening I believe is like ‘The Departed’ is memorable dialogue, Tarrentino is well known for having quotable lines throughout his movies and memorable scenes. Another Strong point of this opening is because of non-linear narrative this also turns out to be the end of the film and at the end of the film there is some satisfaction when

finding out how things are tied together and you can also find other characters that are shown later in the film hidden in this opening.
