ADVICE FOR STUDENTSDitta Kasdanowner, dee dee's Ice cream
Don’t mistake education for acquiring skills needed to get a job. Education is also about
finding out who you are and why you are here. Question everything that you are told no matter how famous and well-spoken the speaker. Self-interest is the author of many half-truths.
Take time each day to be still, to know that you are alive, in this most amazing world.

EAST COASTSauerkraut and butterThe East Coast is all about place. But you may be surprised to learn a couple of staple Nova Scotia brands named after a location no longer call that spot home. Big Tancook Island lies in Mahone Bay and used to be a major producer of sauerkraut. Along with Little Tancook, the islands can only be accessed by ferry via Chester. The fermented cabbage delight was made on the Big Island and sold across the Maritimes until production was shifted to Lunenburg in the 1970s.
Likewise, Tatamagouche Butter is no longer made in Tatamagouche on the Northumberland Straight. The Creamery was originally founded in 1925. Scotsburn Dairy bought the operation in 1968, relocating production in 1992. While these brands may no longer be truly local, they remain delicious and thoroughly Nova Scotian—for now.
