WELCOME TO OUR

TEAM

Below you’ll find some information to get started. Be sure to explore the ONETrack International Website and Facebook Pages for more information and resources,

and check back often as we’re always adding new and updated content!

According to international laws and standards, including The Hague Adoption Convention, orphaned children are supposed to be reunited with extended family members at a local level. In cases where no capable family members can be found, then homes should be made available to them within their community of birth. In the event that all these options are exhausted, then (and only then) should international adoption become an option. However, these principles are routinely ignored or flouted around the world. ONETrack’s mission is to promote these expectations of international law; we recognize the reasons why they initially became standards- to keep the family together and strengthen the ties of community, to maintain cultural traditions and a bond between the citizen and one’s heritage, to make certain that the children truly in need of international adoption get it, and to protect villages from losing future generations and the benefits that come with their innovation, productive lives and creativity. Orphanages serve an important purpose for the parentless children of this world, but they should be reserved for the worst cases- a space for those without other options. The gap that ONETrack addresses is to relieve the overcrowded and underfunded orphanages of children who do not belong in them, while simultaneously reuniting the family by placing children in the households of surviving family members and ensuring their educations and healthy lives.

To date there many places around the world have no credible or efficient foster care system to provide for the parentless children orphaned by HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, and other ill-fated circumstances. According to UNICEF statistics, there are currently over 153 Million children who no longer have biological parents. Many are housed in collective shelters and schooled in self-operated institutions. Others are placed in the care of elderly guardians, who, surviving solely by subsistence farming, can barely afford to provide these children with their basic needs, let alone the costs of a proper education.

Some have been reported to be the victims of human and sex traffic and some the sufferers of organ exploitation. Others still are on their own and fending for themselves--the ideal formula for destitution and criminal activity.

There is a need to reassess the current methods in practice and address the orphan situation through a different approach - the solution is not simply to confine these children to the peripheries of society! Most of those who are raised in this system find that after primary school they are alone and unemployable. Many do not even receive a basic education in the first place. Tragically, many of these children still have caring family members who are simply incapable of financially adding another person to their household. Indeed, some have been placed in their orphanages by single parents who feel that the missions can better support them. In order to confront this crisis, the support needs to be focused toward family-preservation efforts that strengthen the family unit and allow surviving relatives who are willing to assume the role of guardian care for the own nieces and nephews.

ONETrack has developed a program to confront the current orphan crises around the world. Our team has established the first Transition to Home sponsorship programs that have been designed to support both an orphaned child as well as his or her surviving relatives with the goal of keeping families together while relieving the orphan communes of unnecessary cases. The children in our Transition to Home programs are placed in the existing households of their extended family members, who partner with ONETrack international by taking on the parental responsibilities of a niece or nephew. Families do so on a conditional basis and each household receives PTA school fees, medical assistance, school supplies, uniforms, text books, shoes, as well as rice, seeds, cooking oil and other essentials of daily life, and a small family stipend. Host families that accept this responsibility do so with the full understanding that it will be conditional and made available only as certain requirements of the child’s rearing are met. These stipulations include that the child attend a decent school and maintain certain expectations in their evaluations, and that he or she is fully vaccinated and receives whatever healthcare that may be specific to their personal needs.

It is important that the international community begins to consider the wider advantages that supporting an orphaned child’s surviving relatives will bring and the benefits of practicing family-preservation through caretaker support, ensuring food and health security, advancing access to education, and by providing identification support to register undocumented children to ensure that they are less vulnerable to the threats of statelessness. This project can both reduce short-term poverty by directly providing a partial income to the impoverished and those most in need and ultimately fight long-term poverty by creating a more productive and competent future human capital among parentless children who may have received little or no education. The Transition to Home program is a pro-poverty alleviation project in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to reduce hunger and poverty, achieve universal education and reduce child mortality intended as a model to be applied throughout the globe. It also observes the Convention of the Rights of the Child, UN Declaration on the Protection and Welfare of Children, and The Hague Adoption Convention which all support the belief that international adoption should be considered as an option only if other arrangements (with priority to kin and adoptive families) cannot satisfactorily be arranged for the child in her or his country of origin (otherwise known as the Principle of Subsidiarity between national and international adoption)

1. Designated Gifts Gifts can be designated to one of these areas:

2. Sponsorships: The donation required to sponsor a student for an entire year is USD $500. Other donation amounts are also gratefully accepted. Sponsored students will receive PTA school fees, text books, exercise books, uniforms, writing utensils, and so forth. All of their health needs will be provided for and they will receive identification support in the form of ‘birth acts’ that document their citizenship status. Their caretakers will receive support in the form of a monetary stipend and a seasonal care package of seeds for farming, rice, cooking oil, children’s shoes, pencils, soap, etc. This allowance will be culturally appropriate and not offset the local standards of income. Over 90% of every dollar goes directly toward programming.

3. ONETrack Solution: In addition to providing sponsorships, we also manage several sustainability projects such as bee-farming. Our Bee Project provides honey and wax, that when harvested, generates a sustainable income for our orphan programs. As a result, more students are welcomed into our program and we can continue to keep families together in a secure environment, local crops see better yields from the influx of pollination, and jobs are created as an effect of growth and all around improve rural social-economics. In order for ONETrack to maintain this growth, we are building a farm with a full 800 hives on land that has already been provided for us. Several hives are already in operation, but the initial phase will require 150 hives to be installed and colonized in order to continue producing wax and honey to sell to reinvest into additional hives until the farm reaches capacity.

4. Essential Administration: We accept donations for Essential Administration, which covers our costs of operation and volunteer training.

Strategize! What sort of campaigns would I like to create? There are many ways to fundraise. Crowdfunding, throw a Fundraising Event,

fundraise at a Festival, Personal Fundraising, or Be Creative and develop your own campaign!

1. Crowdfunding: A How-To Guide

Running a Crowdfunder is an excellent option for anyone who is Internet savvy, is a marketing wiz, or as a tool to use in concert with other campaigns. The key to managing a successful campaign is through PREPARATION! Getting your campaign in front of as many people as possible is the success to an effective Crowdfunder; it is not something that donors will find on their own so strategize before going live with it.

Basic steps for a successful ONETrack crowdfunder: 1. Research successful campaigns run by others. 2. After a crowdfunding campaign ends, it stays online. These pages are a great

resource for you to see what worked well for others – and what didn’t. How did they tell their story? What social channel did they use? Successful campaigners weigh the outcome of every decision they make, so studying and leveraging their decisions is a smart use of your time.

3. Time it appropriately. 4. Tell the story. Craft a compelling reason to fund your campaign by explaining

your connection to the cause and answering any question or concern a potential funder might have that would keep them from supporting your cause.

2. Create and Launch your Campaign through Chuffed or Facebook Fundraiser.

• Go to Chuffed: https://chuffed.org. We prefer our interns to use Chuffed over the other online platforms because it is designed for social cause and 100% of funds raised goes to the charity!!

• Plug in ONETrack’s EIN Number when prompted (83-1337429) and PayPal information for direct payments ([email protected])

• Choose a realistic goal and then strategize how to draw attention to your campaign through a variety of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, MailChimp, etc.).

3.0 WHERE DO I START?

3. Large Event Fundraising: A How-To Guide

Hosting a large event can generate significant funds over a short period of time. However, for the event to be successful, it takes careful planning. How to start can be overwhelming, as can coordinating all the details. Use this outline to bring your concept to life.

Basic steps for a successful ONETrack fundraising event: 1. Secure a location and event ‘staff.’

• Instill your passion for ONETrack International into the prospective owner/operator, artists, vendors, and anyone donating their time and services. The more they know, the more they will become personally invested.

• Empower vendors to still be able to make a profit at the event (donating xx %). Remember, as a 501c3, anything donated is tax-deductible to your donors!

• Emphasize how this event will bring a new audience to the establishment/vendors.

2. Budget your resources. • Partner with a fraternal club, sport team, restaurant or any interested

parties to seed a budget and 3rd party sponsors may donate products or funds in exchange for promotion.

• Decide what fund generators will be used. Examples are tickets, auctions, raffles, pass the box etc.

3. Pre-Production • Utilize ONETrack staff for resources and help with press release/

promotion, gear, trinkets, etc. (REFER TO OUR EVENT PLANNING CHECKLIST.)

• Create a personal fundraising page for the event. • Be properly covered such as insurance, liquor laws, noise and event

permits, etc. • Create a timeline for the event to ensure our message is clearly heard and

the continuity of the event is maintained. A well-orchestrated program is far more likely to be successful than one that just happens.

• Establish a layout of the venue. Ensure you can do what you want with what space is available.

4. Promotion • Reach out to local media or schools to promote your event. • Plaster businesses with fliers, e-mail announcements, contact local media

and use social media to get the word out to your intended audience. Follow up often!

• Utilize all resources. There is no such thing as over promoting... Repetition!

5. Production (Event Day) • Have Fun...you deserve it! • Keep ONETrack Operations aware of all your activities. • Document your event with photos or video for social media purposes.

4. Festivals: A How-To Guide

Festivals are a unique opportunity to spread the word about ONETrack, as you can engage thousands of folks in the course of a few days. While the demographics are typically high school and college age, all generations are represented, and this is a worthwhile way to raise awareness. Plus, it is a ton of fun!

Things to keep in mind for a successful ONETrack presence:

1. Have a contact person. • Contact them early! Obtain the lay of the land and any necessary

paperwork. • Seek permission for ONETrack to use the event logo. This can be used to

create specific promotional items.

2. Prepare your team.

• Everyone working should expect to answer lots of questions over the course of the festival. Prepare the volunteer staff with key messages and current project information in order to accurately represent ONETrack.

• Be sure to recruit a sufficient number of volunteers so you have enough people for each shift and to give everyone free time to enjoy the festival.

3. Network wisely. • Talk to your neighbors. • Use social media. • Remember to follow-up after the festival with any potential leads. Festivals

can be a great place to set up future events, presentations or even recruit new volunteers.

5. Personal Fundraising: A How-To Guide

It has often been said that “people give to people.” Personal fundraising activities and events are built around this idea. You are inviting your backers to get involved in a cause you feel strongly about through your activity. In the process, you give them the ability to connect with you, learn more about your cause, and in the end, support your cause with their donations.

Developing your own personal fundraising event can easily be built around your interests and activities. The key to your success is to identify a personal goal or accomplishment. The ideas for this are endless: a distance walk, run, or marathon or a golf score or competition.

You want to capture your backer’s interest in you and your goals. Let this be an opportunity to help spur you on in achieving those goals and to introduce your backer to ONETrack: who we are, what we do, how we do it, and how they can help. The most important thing is to have fun with your effort and donations will follow.

Steps to consider when doing a personal fundraiser or major fundraising event:

1. Develop your concept • Why are you doing it? What is the message you want to leave others with? • Will it capture others’ imagination, be inspiring, be positive, upbeat and fun? • Is it simple, straight forward and focused?

2. Assemble your plan • Identify your audience: friends, neighbors, family, club members, and co-

workers. • Have a defined beginning and end. • Keep it simple!

3. Set your goal • Be aggressive but realistic. Don’t be afraid to change your fundraising goal. • Keep everyone (team members and donors) aware of your results along the

way.

4. Market the concept and goal • Be succinct and direct in making the ask, whether online or in person. • Re-promote if necessary.

5. Thank all donors personally • Do it quickly and sincerely. • Thank everyone in the group, whether they gave or not.
