Mon Doubling and Halving Watch this video to see how doubling and halving can help you multiply. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/znj7hyc/articles/zvs86v4 There are three levels of doubling and halving challenges to choose from. They are uploaded as separate documents but remember you don’t need to print them.

Mrs Wordsmith – rainforest words Pick 5 words to check their meanings, then create a sentence for each once. Full image below

June Nature Walk Go for a walk around your park, garden or school. Look for wild flowers and grasses. Check with an adult and where there are enough to spare pick one for your project. Once home you can arrange your finds however you like and take a photo. Can you identify and name any of them? I can’t wait to see what you find! Here’s an example:-

Tues Doubling and Halving

We have played this game in class. Do you remember it? Have a go and choose a level, challenge yourself!

Skill one – Expanded noun phrases

Have fun watching this video to learn about expanded noun phrases. This requires you to use two adjectives to explain your chosen noun. Below is an image to use for sentence inspiration. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFJP1FNUEVY Example: The venomous, orange snake curled around the branch.

Computing This week you are going to create your own story using code. You can choose your characters, background, add sounds and moves! Get your characters talking to each other using the dialogue blocks. You can even decide on their mood!

Have fun!

Weds Multiplying and Dividing by 3

Recap on how to use your knowledge of the three times table to multiply and divide by three.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/

Skill two – adverbs and adverbials Watch the clip and understand how adverbs can be used within sentences to tell us how, when, why or where something happens. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3hR3BHpeho Create five sentences today using adverbs and adverbials phrases. There is a large adverbials mat below. Continue to link them to the rainforest image from Tuesday.

Example: From behind the bushes, the animals slowly crept towards the lake. Anxiously, the baby elephant drinks from the stream.

Geography

Today’s lesson is learning all about rainforest weather.

Go through the rainforest PDF to see what the weather would be like then have a go at writing your own weather forecast (template below). If you prefer you could record yourself presenting the weather and show us on Seesaw.

Key Question:

What is the difference between climate and weather? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbAWny7FV3w

Here’s a clip to show you a bit more about the climate

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnQ8E6nzG4o

Enjoy telling us about the weather and try to use both words ‘weather’ and ‘climate’ in your forecast.

Thurs Multiplying and Dividing by 8

Today let’s go over our knowledge of the eight times table and how to use it to multiply and divide. There are 3 levels of challenge on the worksheets

Skill three – Co-ordinating conjunctions https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIVL38Is5Ac

Spanish In this lesson, you will recap your

knowledge from last week and you will

build on your knowledge by learning

the days of the week. You can then use

this, as well as your previous

choose your level and copy up the answers into your exercise books.

Use these conjunctions to join sentences and expand

your ideas. Try to create a sentence for each conjunction shown above. Nor is tricky to use. Think

about how nor is similar to ‘as well’. Example: The birds were flying above the lake, yet they could not spot any fish to eat. The birds had not managed to find lunch, nor had they found a new stream to fly over and hunt.

knowledge of months and numbers, to

say the date in Spanish! For this lesson

you will need some paper and a pen or

pencil to write down your new

vocabulary. https://classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/how-to-say-the-date-in-spanish

Descriptive writing Using the image from Tuesday create a paragraph of text to describe the image. Make sure you include all three skills. Hopefully you could use some of your sentences from the week and join them in a logical order to make up a full paragraph. Make your writing colourful. You could underline noun phrases in one colour, adverbials in another colour and conjunction in a third colour. If you want to, have a go at drawing the image on your own to match up with your sentences.

Science experiments As this term is still experiments, have a look at the booklet to see which experiment you would like to try this week. Most need very few materials, but some are a little more adventurous for maybe over the weekend. Pick one and write up how it went. Take photos if you can for Seesaw. The taste one might be good fun for all the family to try! We also think Otter Class will enjoy the invisible ink too.
