out a final THANK YOU to all who

helped make 2019 such a success for

and have a lot of which to be proud.

I appreciate all that all of you have

you will provide her ongoing sup-

port just as you did for me.

We mourn the loss of Kirk Wallace

who will be missed by all. He spent

NEW CHAIR OFFICERS FOR

ELK YEAR 2020-2021

We are now actively looking for

Chair Officers for the 2020-2021

Elk Year. Some Officers will be

returning to new Chairs but we

can use a few new people or pre-

vious Officers to fill some

Chairs. Nominations will take

place February 12th with elec-

tions being held on February

26th. Nominations will be taken

on the 26th for any vacant Chairs

still available. The Chairs up for

nomination are: Exalted Ruler,

Leading Knight, Loyal Knight,

Lecturing Knight, Secretary,

Treasurer, and 1st Year Trustee.

All other Chairs are appointed by

the Exalted Ruler except the

Trustees who automatically move

up a year. I can tell you from per-

sonal experience that filling a

Chair is rewarding as we have a

great group of members that by

and larger are a pleasure to work

with and for you. You can con-

tact any officer for more informa-

tion.

New Year’s Eve Party 2019-20

Thanks to all of you who attended our “Ringing in the Roaring 20’s” 14th Annual New Year’s Eve Party . We sold

out again and it was a cold but beautiful night. The “Rusty Rockers” kept going strong with many in attendance

until our final 11:00 O’Clock Toast. Thanks go to the crew that decorated the Lodge for the season and to Dalaine

Heagle and her crew for doing the same with her display. They both came back and “undecorated” the Lodge so

we could decorate for New Years. Many thanks go to the decorating crew of Jim & Linda Maddox, Bob & Marge

Nath, Jim & Pat Phelan, Bill & Connie Youngman, and Skip & Deanna Hoy. Dino Papapetrou and his Crew also

did a great job preparing and serving the dinner.

The following individuals and businesses made donations for this event. Tractor Supply, Applebee’s, Gus’s

Steakhouse, Peppery, Sonora Taqueria, Dickey’s BBQ, Wood’s Creek, Pinocchio’s, Perko’s, Brooks Ranch,

Starbucks, Sonora, Wayne & Son’s Automotive (Angels Camp), Emberz Grill, Indigeny Reserve, Cocino

Michochan, Standard Pour, and Black Oak Casino. The Naths, Maddoxs Hoys and Youngmans also donated per-

sonalized gift baskets. If I missed anyone I apologize.

We hope to be back next year with a still mystery theme to be decided. Stay tuned till then. Hope to see you all

once again the end of 2020!

Skip & Deanna Hoy & our Crew.

Full bellies help them weather the cold air also. The only change to their clothing should be pinning a large red heart on them for Valen-tine’s Day. Don’t feed them any chocolate as they really thrive on greenbacks and coin. Save that chocolate for the ones you love and don’t forget to tell them. Have a happy Valentine’s Day! Remember, a coin a day and they’ll, walk, talk, see, & play”” Fraternally, Skip Hoy P.E.R. Purple Pig Herdsman.

February. That time each year when

many of us in the Mother Lode

Rollers are relaxing at home and

slowly getting our rigs ready for

another travel year. Don’t know

where and when yet, but prepara-

tions are in the works.

As we approach our election of new

officers, who will be nominated this

month and elected in March, it’s

timely to recognize our officers for

this past year, starting with our

Wagon Master, Pam Gracia.

Pam has been our Wagon Master for

four years running. This is a

demanding job that requires dedica-

tion and patience. If this was a pay-

ing job, her performance report

would have to grade her to be

“Outstanding”.

Assistant Wagon Master Sandy

Thomason, Secretary Pat Mayberry,

and Treasurer Jim McCracken have

also served, with distinction, contin-

uously since 2016. Underline

“Distinction”!

Our next business meeting is sched-

uled at 5:30 p.m. on Friday,

February 28, 2020 at the Lodge. All

Sonora Elks members are invited to

attend our meetings. Come early to

our pre-meeting in the East Lounge.

Ray Bailey, MLR Editor

Member Wayne Felts is now back

home after going to St. Joseph’s

Hospital twice for extended periods.

He gets a daily dose of antibiotics

locally and is very much improved

and doing well.

Member Leonard Carpenter was

transported to Adventist Health

Sonora from our New Year’s Eve

Party 12/31/19 with breathing prob-

lems. He was released later after

being diagnosed with influenza.

Member Robert Bettger had a

pacemaker installed on 1/8/20. and

is now home ticking right along.

Member Jack Walls was hospital-

ized recently with a throat problem

and is now home.

Trustee Kirk Wallace passed away

on 12/17/19 in Memorial Hospital in

Modesto. His memorial service will

be held on Saturday, April 4, 2020 @

the Sonora Elks Lodge @ 2:00 p.m.

.

any news of Sickness & Distress.

Phone 209-736-2310 or email to

Sickness & Distress books to enter

information located in the front

check these regularly.

There is some confusion regard-

ing signing up for an event

through the site GroupWorks. It

is only an information site. By

responding with " I am Going"

DOES NOT sign you up for the

event. You still have to sign up for

an event through the office and/or

the designated person in charge of

the event.

may contact me for further expla-

Today's wisdom

If my body is ever found on a "jogging" trail, just know that I was murdered somewhere

else and dumped there

Respect your elders. they graduated from school without the internet.

I've decided I'm not old, I'm 25 -- plus shipping and handling.

Why do I have to press "1" for English? did America move?

Behind every angry woman stands a man who has absolutely no idea what he did wrong.

Vegetarian: ancient tribal name for the village idiot who can't hunt, fish, or light fires!

In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

My mother always told me, “Don’t you get smart with me”, so I obliged her.

My decision-making skills closely resemble those of a squirrel when crossing the road.

Some things are just better left unsaid -- and I usually realize it right after I say them.

Camping: where you spend a small fortune to live like a homeless person.

I always thought that getting old would take longer.
