NEWSLETTER No. 20
End of Year Service – All
Our End of Year Celebration took place last Friday morning at St Peter’s Church and there was a full house! We took the opportunity to say goodbye to Mr Sutterby, and Miss O’Connell Jones. We know you will join with us in wishing them all well in the future. Many thanks to all of the parent helpers who walked the children to the church and back.
Congratulations and thanks - All
Wow! Well done to all the pupils in Year 6 who worked so hard this year and have achieved such amazing SATs results, you should all be very proud of yourselves – everyone in school is extremely proud of you! Not every skill can be tested or measured and our children excel in so many different ways in and out of school. We have children who show love and enthusiasm for acting, music, sport, cooking, art, sewing – too many to name them all but all equally important. Valuable qualities such as politeness, kindness, helpfulness, compassion, humour are regularly demonstrated by the children in school and do not go unnoticed. We would also like to thank all the incredible staff at OPS for their hard work, dedication, passion and belief in the children. They are an amazing group of people who are incredibly committed to the pupils. We wish our Year 6 all the best as they move to secondary school and we hope you all have a great summer break. Reading 71%
Writing 69%
GPS 69%
Maths 79%
Combined (Reading, Writing and Maths) 68%
The children have worked hard all year and have helped us improve on last years results.
SATS End of Key Stage 2 –Y6 We are delighted to report that the end of Key Stage Two SATS results for our Year Six children were outstanding. In all areas assessed, the percentages of children within school meeting the Age Related Expectations are considerably higher than the National Average, as seen below. Very well done, children!
Move up day - All
Last week all the children have spent time with their new teachers and classmates. They all had a great experience and we hope they have told you all about it!
The Fairytale Factory – Y5 & 6 Well done to all Y5 and Y6 children that performed in 'The Fairytale Factory'. A lot of time and effort was put into learning individual lines, group songs and acting. A huge thank you must also go to Simon Aylin and Patrick for their musical direction. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all who came to see it and a fantastic end to the academic year. The children should be very proud of themselves.
Barnwell Country Park trip - Reception
The children in Foundation Stage enjoyed their trip to Barnwell Country Park. The weather was lovely and the children took part in a scavenger hunt, enjoyed a quiz, had a picnic lunch and then ended the day by having a play in the park! A fun day was had by all! A big thank you to all the parents who accompanied us.
Science Fair – Y6
Year 6 wowed us with their science experiments and investigations this week in Oundle Primary's inaugural Science Fair. Every child in Year 6 took part and there was an array of creative and practical investigations and experiments which were the product of six weeks hard work. The standard was incredibly high and the judges had a very hard job selecting the winners! Well done to all the children for their hard work, excellent displays and enthusiasm for science. We would like this to become an annual event in the Oundle Primary School calendar and look forward to inviting parents again next year. Please take a look on our Twitter feed to see some of the fabulous photographs. Our thanks go to Claire Morgan for judging the competition.

'Kiss and Drop' - All After trialling the 'Kiss and Drop' car scheme initiative this half term, we are thrilled to say that it has been such a success that we will be continuing it after the Summer holidays. It will continue to be under review, especially as Autumn/ Winter approaches, but due to an
overwhelmingly positive response you will still be able to drop your child off on the school site between 8.45-9am and the Road Safety heroes will accompany them to school. We would also like to show our appreciation to the group of Year 6 children who have taken on the new Road Safety hero roles this year and established it with such passion and enthusiasm. We have already appointed some Year 5 children who will be taking on the role in September, who we know will be more than ready to continue making sure that the children at OPS are as safe as possible.
Music Tuition – Y3 to Y6 (from September)
Children who have been accepted for music tuition in September have all received their letters confirming places and it is hoped that lessons will start the week commencing 10

Volunteers - All
OPS is a great team and a very important part of that team are the many volunteers, both parents and friends of the school, who give up their time to work in and out of the
classrooms. The staff and children very much appreciate their valuable contribution and say a huge “Thank You”. We look forward to seeing lots of you again next year. Look out for information about signing up attached to this newsletter.

Slime Toys - All
Parents are being warned about potentially toxic levels of chemicals in slime toys popular with children. The consumer group ‘Which?’ tested 11 of the most popular products on the market and found eight of them had above the recommended levels of boron. The chemical is found in borax, a common ingredient in slime that helps to create its stickiness. Exposure to excessive levels of boron can cause irritation, diarrhoea, vomiting and cramps. ‘Which?’ Has passed its findings on to the Office for Product Safety and Standards. It said there needed to be better regulation of the market, as many slimes had minimal safety labelling or information on ingredients.
Parentview - All
Thank you to the parents who have registered on Parentview and given their opinion of our school. This feedback is invaluable to us and we would urge as many of you as possible to register and make use of the site. You can do this by clicking onto the linkhttps://www.oundleceprimary.org/parent-feedback entering “Ofsted Parentview” into a search engine or, to make it even easier, there is a link at the bottom of the home page on the school website: www.oundleprimary.com
Please remember that Parentview is only one way to express your feelings about the school. Please continue to feel free to come in and discuss any issues directly.
And finally…. We have come to the end of another busy year at OPS. Our dedicated and hard-working staff provide wonderful learning opportunities for the children, who enjoy coming to school and continue to make good progress. We are all proud of our school and although we are ready for a well-earned rest, we look forward to making Oundle Primary the best it can be next year. We hope that you all have a lovely summer and return to school relaxed and refreshed on Thursday 6
th September.
