Message from Our Pastor

My Dear Family of Our Lady of Lourdes,

The Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes highlights beautifully

what a wonderful community God has given us! The ministries, pro-

grams, and services with which we bless the people of our community

are a reflection of who we are. We do all of this with the financial sup-

port of each and every one of us. I’m writing today to tell you about a

new way you can offer your gifts to the parish: Faith Direct, an elec-

tronic giving program that will benefit our church, your family, and the

beautiful world God has given us.

By supporting our parish through Faith Direct, you will be part

of an innovative new way of giving that saves time, money, and re-

sources. For you and your family, Faith Direct offers efficiency and

simplicity: you can make all of your contributions to Our Lady of

Lourdes Catholic Church via automatic payment from your checking

account or credit card – just as you may do now with your mortgage

payment, household bills, and other expenses. Faith Direct offers a se-

cure way for you to send, and our parish to receive, your regular contri-

butions – even when vacation or business takes you out of town, or an

illness prevents you from attending Mass.

For Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, electronic giving will

make it easier for us to track each gift without the risks of loss or error

¡La Fiesta de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes resalta bellamente la maravi-

llosa comunidad que Dios nos ha dado! Los ministerios, programas y servicios

con los cuales bendecimos a las personas en nuestra comunidad, son una re-

flexión de quienes somos. Logramos todo esto con el soporte financiero de

cada uno de ustedes. Les escribo hoy para decirles una forma nueva en la que

usted puede hacer ofrendas a la parroquia: Faith Direct, es un programa

From Feb. 13th, Ash Wednesday, to March 24th, from 7am to 7 pm, our parish will join other parishes in prayer at “ A CHOICE FOR WOMEN”, the abortion center located at 6660 S.W. 117th Ave. Miami FL. We will be there 12 hours every day to peacefully pray for the end of abortion and for the respect of all human life. During all masses on the weekends of Feb. 16/17 and 23/24, ministry members will be outside the church ready to take your pledge to pray with us every TUESDAY of Lent. We will need many to fill those hours for 40 days. The idea is to blanket that place of death with continuous prayer, even during days/times when they are not open. There is no better place for our parish to reflect on the sufferings of Christ during this season of Lent. With our rosaries and our prayers, this will be our Calvary on 117th Ave., where Christ is being crucified every time one of God’s precious babies is aborted. Please join us!

“40 Dias por la Vida”

Desde el 13 de febrero, hasta el 24 de marzo, entre las 7am y 7pm, nuestra parroquia se unirá a otras parroquias, en oracion frente al centro de abortos “A CHOICE FOR WOMEN” localizado en el 6660 S.W. 117 Avenida, Miami, Fl. Estaremos orando pacíficamente por espacio de 12 horas cada día pidiendo por el fin del aborto y por el respeto de toda vida humana. Durante todas las misas del 16/17 y 23/24 de febrero, miembros del ministerio estarán afuera de la iglesia para atender a todo aquel que quera anotarse y ofrecer sus oraciones junto a nosotros cada MARTES de Cuaresma. Necesitaremos muchas personas para cubrir todas esas horas durante los 40 días. La idea es cubrir ese lugar de muerte con un monto de oraciones continuas, incluso los días y horas en que estén cerrados. No hay mejor lugar para que nuestra parroquia reflexione acerca del sufrimiento de Cristo durante este tiempo de Cuaresma. Con nuestros rosarios y oraciones, este será nuestro Calvario en la 117 avenida, adonde Cristo es crucificado cada vez que un bebe es abortado. Por favor únase a nosotros!

Children’s Easter Choir

Come be a part of the children’s choir for Easter! The children’s choir is open to all children of the

parish ages 6 – 14 years old. The children will sing for the 11:45 am English mass on Easter

Sunday, March 31. Rehearsals will be Wednesdays from 6:00 – 6:45 pm in the school music

room (located on the 2nd

La Experiencia de Emaus - Retiro para Hombres

El retiro de Emaús para hombres es este regalo. Este es el momento para renovar y profundizar su relación con el Señor. Es un vehículo para conocer otros hombres de la parroquia que también están buscando una verdadera amistad.

First Sunday of Lent Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

This weekend people from Our Lady of Lourdes who are preparing to be baptized at the

Easter Vigil this year participate in the Rite of Election. This rite is celebrated by the

Archbishop himself at the Cathedral of Saint Mary.

The Rite of Election is the church’s formal recognition of these Catechumens as they prepare

for the Sacraments of Initiation at Easter. At this time, the catechumens become the “Elect.”

In the weeks of Lent that follow, the church will celebrate three purification rites called the scrutinies. These celebrations will

take place on the Third, Fourth, and Fifth Sundays of Lent. More on these scrutinies as we get closer to these celebrations.

In the meantime, please keep our catechumens, as they become the Elect, in your prayers this weekend and throughout

Lent as they continue their journey to life as Disciples of Christ.

Mother Therese regarding Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament - “Just One Hour”

“It was not until 1973, when we began our daily Holy Hour that our community started to grow and blossom... In our congregation, we used to have adoration once a week for one hour, and then in 1973, we decided to have adoration one hour every day. We have much work to do. Our homes for the sick and dying destitute are full everywhere. And from the time we started having adoration every day, our love for Jesus became more intimate, our love for each other more understanding, our love for the poor more compassionate, and we have double the number of vocations. God has blessed us with many wonderful vocations. The time we spend in having our daily audience with God is the most precious part of the whole day.”

Reflexiones de Madre Teresa sobre Adoración al Santísimo Sacramento - “Sólo una Hora” “No fue sino hasta 1973, cuando empezamos nuestra Hora Santa diaria que nuestra comunidad comenzó a crecer y florecer .. En nuestra congregación, solo teníamos adoración una vez a la semana durante una hora, y luego, en 1973, decidimos tener adoración una hora cada día. Tenemos mucho trabajo que hacer. Nuestras casas de los enfermos y moribundos indigentes están llenos en todas partes. Y desde el momento en que comenzamos a tener adoración cada día, nuestro amor por Jesús se hizo más íntimo, el amor entre nosotros creció en mas entendimiento, nuestro amor por los pobres, más compasivo, y hamos duplicado nuestros número en vocaciones.
