Our Lady of Fatima - Waikanae St Patrick’s - Paraparaumu Dear Parishioners, Lent is a time of prayer, fasting and almsgiving in preparation for Easter. Each Lent we are invited by the New Zealand Catholic Bishops to support their Lenten Appeal which is run by Caritas to support our work of charity and justice for the world's poorest – in New Zealand and overseas. The theme for this year’s Appeal is Open up a Horizon of Hope, taken from Pope Francis’ Inauguration Homily where he said, Today too, amid so much darkness, we need to see the light of hope and to be men and women who bring hope to others. To protect creation, to protect every man and every woman, to look upon them with tenderness and love, is to open up a horizon of hope; it is to let a shaft of light break through the heavy clouds; it is to bring the warmth of hope!Grateful thanks to John Butterfield and Kath Garton who will reflect on this year’s appeal and the work of Caritas at our Sunday Eucharist. Thank you: Dear Father Michael

Please pass on our sincere thanks for your generous welcome to your Parish within which we held the 2014 Mixed Commission Conference. We were indeed blessed in so many ways during our stay at Waikanae and I am sure that this is carrying on in the ministry of leadership held by the Bishops of New Zealand and the Congregational leaders and their representatives. In turn we wish many blessings on you and your Parish and ask that God’s blessings be on all your endeavours. With appreciation Sister Colleen Dempsey RSJ Executive Secretary
