Message from Our Pastor

My Dear Family of Our Lady of Lourdes, I congratulate and thank all of our parish family for a beautiful celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. I think we truly honored her well. The carnival was a terrific success! Our Lord supplied the nice weather and we took full advantage of those beautiful days. Everyone pitched in to help, some to an extraordinary extent that really inspires. There was a great turn out of people that included our neighbors and gave them the chance to catch the spirit of Our Lady of Lourdes. The final accounting hasn’t been finished yet but it will surely reveal this year to be one of the best. I’ll let you know as soon as I do. The Masses for Our Lady of Lourdes and the Virtual Pilgrimage were a beautiful and fitting way to bring our celebration to a close. The Pilgrimage drew people from all over the Archdiocese and gave us the opportunity to see the special role we have in bringing healing and conversion to others as the parish of Our Lady of Lourdes and in her spirit. Our student ambassadors from ACC were moved by the profound intimacy of being there when pilgrims came to touch the rock of the grotto, to be at Lourdes for a moment. Our rock from the grotto will be on permanent display in our Perpetual Adoration Chapel. To be refreshed by the healing water of Lourdes and then to receive the Sacrament of the Sick in the presence of our Lord exposed in the Blessed Sacrament was very special for me. And the candlelight procession to our grotto is always so beautiful. I was impressed that we were still so many in the procession, stretching the length of the property, so late into the night (or early into the morning!). It was a truly wonderful experience of prayer and devotion. Back to the carnival for a moment – the winner of the first prize is going to take the $10,000. We could turn the car back in to Toyota and receive $12,000 from them. Since it is really worth much more I am offering to sell it to whoever offers us the most over the $12,000. If you are interested call the office with your offer and contact information. I will make the final decision in three weeks so don’t delay too long. Again, thank you and congratulations!

Mensaje de Nuestro Párroco Querida familia de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes: Felicito y agradezco a toda nuestra familia parroquial por una hermosa celebración de la Fiesta de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes. Pienso que la honramos realmente bien. El carnaval fue todo un suceso ¡Nuestro Señor nos proveyó con un tiempo magnifico y nosotros tomamos ventaja de esos días hermosos. Todo el mundo puso de su parte para ayudar, algunos de una manera extraordinaria que realmente inspira. Mucha gente visito el carnaval, incluyendo nuestros vecinos, lo que les dio la oportunidad de observar el espíritu de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes. Todavía se está trabajando en la contabilidad pero seguramente los resultados revelaran que este ano fue uno de los mejores. Les dejare saber tan pronto como lo sepa. Las Misas de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes y la Peregrinación Virtual fueron hermosas y una manera apropiada de terminar nuestra celebración. La Peregrinación trajo gente de todas partes de la Arquidiócesis y nos dio la oportunidad de ver el papel que tenemos en traer paz y conversión a nuestro prójimo como comunidad parroquial de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes y en su espíritu. Nuestros estudiantes embajadores de ACC quedaron conmovidos por la profunda intimidad de haber presenciado cuando los peregrinos venían a tocar la roca de la gruta, estar en Lourdes por un momento. Nuestra roca de la gruta quedara en exposición permanente en nuestra Capilla de Adoración Perpetua. Ser refrescado por el agua curativa de Lourdes y luego recibir el Sacramento de la Unción de los Enfermos en presencia de Nuestro Señor expuesto en el Santísimo Sacramento fue muy especial para mí; y la procesión a nuestra gruta a la luz de las velas es siempre muy hermosa. Me impresiono que todavía fuésemos tantos en la procesión, cubriendo toda la extensión de nuestra propiedad, tan tarde en la noche (¡o temprano en la mañana!). Fue verdaderamente una hermosa experiencia de oración y devoción. Volviendo al carnaval por un momento – el ganador del primer premio opto por llevarse los $ 10,000. Podríamos devolver el automóvil a Toyota y recibir $ 12,000 de ellos. Como realmente vale mucho más, estoy ofreciendo venderlo a quien de la mejor oferta por sobre los $12,000. Si Ud. está interesado llame a la oficina con su oferta e información de contacto. Tomare la decisión final en tres semanas así es que no se demoren mucho. From Feb. 13th, Ash Wednesday, to March 24th, from 7am to 7 pm, our parish will join other parishes in prayer at “ A CHOICE FOR WOMEN”, the abortion center located at 6660 S.W. 117th Ave. Miami FL. We will be there 12 hours every day to peacefully pray for the end of abortion and for the respect of all human life. During all masses on the weekends of Feb. 16/17 and 23/24, ministry members will be outside the church ready to take your pledge to pray with us every TUESDAY of Lent. We will need many to fill those hours for 40 days. The idea is to blanket that place of death with continuous prayer, even during days/times when they are not open. There is no better place for our parish to reflect on the sufferings of Christ during this season of Lent. With our rosaries and our prayers, this will be our Calvary on 117th Ave., where Christ is being crucified every time one of God’s precious babies is aborted. Please join us!

“40 Dias por la Vida”

Desde el 13 de febrero, hasta el 24 de marzo, entre las 7am y 7pm, nuestra parroquia se unirá a otras parroquias, en oracion frente al centro de abortos “A CHOICE FOR WOMEN” localizado en el 6660 S.W. 117 Avenida, Miami, Fl. Estaremos orando pacíficamente por espacio de 12 horas cada día pidiendo por el fin del aborto y por el respeto de toda vida humana. Durante todas las misas del 16/17 y 23/24 de febrero, miembros del ministerio estarán afuera de la iglesia para atender a todo aquel que quera anotarse y ofrecer sus oraciones junto a nosotros cada MARTES de Cuaresma. Necesitaremos muchas personas para cubrir todas esas horas durante los 40 días. La idea es cubrir ese lugar de muerte con un monto de oraciones continuas, incluso los días y horas en que estén cerrados. No hay mejor lugar para que nuestra parroquia reflexione acerca del sufrimiento de Cristo durante este tiempo de Cuaresma. Con nuestros rosarios y oraciones, este será nuestro Calvario en la 117 avenida, adonde Cristo es crucificado cada vez que un bebe es abortado. Por favor únase a nosotros!

Children’s Easter Choir Come be a part of the children’s choir for Easter! The children’s choir is open to all children of the parish ages 6 – 14 years old. Second Sunday of Lent Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

Our catechumens celebrated the Rite of Election with Archbishop Wenski last Sunday at Saint Mary’s Cathedral. Each

name was called and each catechumen signed the Book of the Elect. Next week they will be with us at Our Lady of Lourdes

for the first of three Scrutinies that are a critical part of their journey to the Easter Sacraments. The scrutinies will be

celebrated at the 11:45 Mass and the 1:30 Mass on each of the next three Sundays. This celebration is so important that

the church requires special readings for the scrutinies. Normally, this year we read the Gospel of Luke. Next Sunday, the

gospel story from Luke is about the vinedresser who saves the vine from being cut down and suggests that the unproductive

vine be given another year to bear fruit. This gospel will be proclaimed at all the Masses except the 11:45 and 1:30

Masses. At these two Masses, we will read the readings from the “A” Cycle – the Gospel of Mathew. This gospel has

a special message for the Elect. This gospel gives us the story of the Samaritan woman who encounters Jesus at the well.

Through this encounter with Jesus, the woman moves from a life of sin to one who embraced Jesus and spread the Good

News of Jesus as the one who could be the promised Messiah. While we and our Elect recognize the reality of sin in the

world and in our lives, we also recognize Jesus as the one whose very word has the power to heal us. Our task this week

and next weekend is to pray for them and with them and to support them on this stage of their journey to Easter.

Mother Therese regarding Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament - “Just One Hour”

“It was not until 1973, when we began our daily Holy Hour that our community started to grow and blossom... In our congregation, we used to have adoration once a week for one hour, and then in 1973, we decided to have adoration one hour every day. We have much work to do. Our homes for the sick and dying destitute are full everywhere. And from the time we started having adoration every day, our love for Jesus became more intimate, our love for each other more understanding, our love for the poor more compassionate, and we have double the number of vocations. God has blessed us with many wonderful vocations. The time we spend in having our daily audience with God is the most precious part of the whole day.”

Reflexiones de Madre Teresa sobre Adoración al Santísimo Sacramento - “Sólo una Hora” “No fue sino hasta 1973, cuando empezamos nuestra Hora Santa diaria que nuestra comunidad comenzó a crecer y florecer .. En nuestra congregación, solo teníamos adoración una vez a la semana durante una hora, y luego, en 1973, decidimos tener adoración una hora cada día. Tenemos mucho trabajo que hacer. Nuestras casas de los enfermos y moribundos indigentes están llenos en todas partes.
