Our Lady of Good Counsel Prayer Mary, I renounce my spirit, and I ask for your spirit. Mary, take away my thoughts and give me your thoughts. Mary, take away my desires and give me your desires. Mary, take away my feelings and give me your feelings. I am totally yours and everything I have I offer You. O my beloved Jesus, through Mary Your Most Holy Mother. Come Holy Spirit, come by means of powerful intercession of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Your well-beloved spouse. Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee; Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Mother of Good Counsel, give us good coun-sel. Amen.

Dear Friends of Our Lady, On May 13, 1917, our Blessed Mother appeared to the three shepherd children in Fatima Portugal and asked them to pray the rosary every day and offer sacrifices for the conversion of sinners. She renewed this request on the 13th of the subsequent 5 months imploring Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta to pray the rosary every day and to continue to offer sacrifices. Today, you and I are exactly 100 years removed from these events, yet her message remains no less pertinent to our lives than to the lives of these three children. And her request was perhaps no less directed to us than it was to them—we are her children too, there is still a need for peace in the world, and many souls are still in need of prayers and conversion. In the summer of 1990, Msgr. Sweeny, then pastor of Our Lady of Peace, made an appeal that I would like to renew, inviting you and urging you to join us in preparing for a week of prayer and sacrifice to bring about peace and the conversion of sinners. Therefore, as your schedule permits, we invite you to more frequently join us for daily mass as you begin to prepare for this week, you who are friends of Our Lady, who built the Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and who continue to sustain it. Between now and October 7, before each of the Masses, the priest and the congregation will recite the prayer to Our Lady of Good Counsel (on the front page of the bulletin). We suggest that you, immediately upon arising, recite the same prayer alone or with your family. Make sure each one of you embrace this as your personal offering to the Immaculate Heart and not depend upon the cooperation of others. Be confident that if you do your part, God will give grace to others. If you wish to do more, that is between Our Lord and yourself. Beginning October 7 and through October 13, at 6PM, we will recite the 15 mysteries of the Rosary before the Blessed Sacrament. We strongly invite you to join us here or at home. The penance of this week will be the ONE HOUR of fast, as you delay your mealtime to pray the full Rosary. The second part of the request is to turn off the television set and refrain from the recreational use of technology (social media, videos, games, etc.) from midnight October 6 to midnight October 13. Perhaps you can think of more things to do, but if done for the entire week, be assured that this will be a great act of prayer and sacrifice to be offered to our Lord and Blessed Mother. In summary: from now until October 7, say the daily prayer to Our Lady of Good Counsel. October 7 to October 13 inclusive, pray the 15 decades of the Rosary at 6PM and make the sacrifice of fasting from TV and technology. Let us keep our hearts united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. We are, with our Mother, members of the Mystical Body of Christ. These prayers and sacrifices will be seen as a beautiful bouquet of roses offered to our Mother Mary as we listen to the desires of her heart that have been expressed to us for the past 100 years. Let us listen to her. The effect of our prayers and penance now, will bear worthy fruit that will resound and be remembered for eternity. We unite ourselves and our sacrifices with the oblation of our Savior on the altar. Let us put out into the deep, Duc in Altum! (Lk 5,4) Spread the message to others. May your faith make you whole. Sincerely in the heart of Mary, Fr. Brian

Are You a Registered Parishioner?
If you attend Mass here regularly, we encourage you to register as a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.
3 main reasons why registering is important:
1. If we as a parish do not know who is out there, how can we serve the needs of all? This includes single people or young families who may not see the need to register.
2. Registering in the parish makes Sacrament prep easier when the time comes. Infant baptisms, religious education registration, being a godparent/sponsor for baptisms or confirmations, and especially getting married whether
you are getting married at this parish, another parish, or having an international Catholic wedding. If you’re not a registered parishioner this will greatly delay the process.
3. Letters of Recommendation Sometimes there are occasions where letters of recommendations are needed from your parish pastor (ie Catholic school enrollment,
scholarships, godparent eligibility, etc.). If you’re not registered, we cannot provide this letter to you or your family.
Anyone, regardless of where they live and even though the Diocese is divided into parish geographical areas, is welcome to register at OLOP. Please note: there is a three (3) month waiting period from the date of registration before being considered a full-fledged registered parishioner. Any requests for pastor signatures on any forms, letters, or wedding
preparation paperwork will not be processed within the 3 months.
Registering is easy! Visit the Parish Office, call the Rectory Office (408-988-4585) or email us ([email protected]) to request a registration form.

The Unseen, Spiritual Warfare Fr. Anthony Hernandez will lead a three part series on the theme of spiritual warfare. Among the matters to be dis-cussed: a definition of the spiritual combat in which all are engaged; who are our main spiritual adversaries; what means we have to engage in spiritual struggle; and how to develop a personal strategy that can lead us to victory in Christ.
Tuesdays: Sept. 12, 19, 26. This series is part of Catholic Faith Fellowship (CFF) that meets every Tuesday even-ing, from 7:15-8:45pm, usually in Room 1101 (sometimes, Room 1102) of the Family Learning Center, Our Lady of Peace Church.

Men lose all the material things they leave behind them in this world, but they carry with
them the reward of their charity and the alms they give.
For these, they will receive from the Lord the reward and recompense they deserve.
