For the next two or three weeks, I will be presenting the story of her life and death: She was a high priced escort…a woman of the night…a notorious sinner who had connections with very powerful people in the Holy Land. She was the sister of St. Lazarus and St. Martha. She was so fixed in sin that seven devils possessed her. And yet our dearest Lord…the Incarnate Mercy of God…would choose her to demonstrate…to manifest His infinite mercy and the transforming power of divine grace. Having been caught in the very act of adultery, she would receive forgiveness from the Son of God and Son of Mary along with an admonishment that she sin no more. Responding to grace, she was transformed into the repentant sinner who would anoint the feet of Jesus with costly perfume and bitter tears. She would then wipe His Sacred Feet dry with her long hair. She would then become the converted sinner, the disciplined penitent, and disciple who would accompany Jesus from Galilee to Judea, and later the faithful disciple who would follow Christ all the way to Calvary. There she remained steadfast at the foot of the Cross, kneeling before it and clinging to its wood. Along with our Lady, she would be at the tomb during Jesus’ burial. HIS COMING WEDNESDAY, July 22, Holy Mother Church celebrates the great feast of the penitent, St. Mary Magdalen. For the next two or three weeks, I will be presenting the story of her life and death: She was a high priced escort…a woman of the night…a notorious sinner who had connections with very powerful people in the Holy Land. She was the

sister of St. Lazarus and St. Martha. She was so fixed in sin that seven devils possessed her. And yet our dearest Lord…the Incarnate Mercy of God…would choose her to demonstrate…to manifest His infinite mercy and the transforming power of divine grace. Having been caught in the very act of adultery, she would receive forgiveness from the Son of God and Son of Mary along with an admonishment that she sin no more. to both see and announce the risen Christ making her the apostle to the apostles. She was chosen to be the messenger that Christ has conquered death. And this Good News of the Resurrection would verify and confirm all that Christ and His Holy Church taught and stood for. From the lips of this holy penitent came the most wondrous news of all time that would ring throughout Christendom in all the centuries to come: Christ is risen! The woman I speak of is St. Mary Magdalene, also known as Mary of Bethany—Fr. Shannon Collins, msjb, Pastor.

! The Sunday obligation is still suspended at this time. The 9:00 am Sunday Mass is available to parishioners via live-stream. The pews are marked where people may attend Mass in the upper church. Families and households can sit together. Overflow will be provided in the Undercroft. ! The School of Virtue is open Sundays via Zoom at 7:00 pm. Starting July 22, via Zoom Fr. Shannon’s Wednesday evening meditations and updates will now begin at 7:30 pm instead of 8 pm. ! His Majesty is solemnly exposed on our altar every Friday from 1 pm to 7:30 pm. Please sign up for an hour to make reparation and console His Majesty.

To dress becomingly for God and neighbor, and in keeping with the reverence due to the Blessed Sacrament, kindly refrain from wearing shorts, tee-shirts, tank-tops, revealing blouses, sleeveless or backless dresses, or form-fitting clothing of any sort. Please wear dresses and skirts that fall below the knee when sitting even with leggings. With due regard to time and circumstance, all are encouraged to wear decorous attire befitting sacred and divine worship.

PARISH EXAMINATION OF CONSCIENCE: PART I

• Do I distract others by how I come into church, genuflect and take my place?

• Do I genuflect using the RIGHT knee? • Does my family sit together? • Do I strive to harmonize my voice with others

when praying the Rosary? • Am I a distraction to others by whispering and/or

playing with my children at Mass? • Do we have times of silence in our home to teach

the children how to be silent at church? • Do we teach our children the importance of

behaving well in sacred places? • Do I keep my child quiet by feeding them snacks

in the pews during Holy Mass? • Do I or my children use the restroom in the middle

of Mass? Do we make sure they use the restroom before Mass or stop drinking long enough before Mass begins? Do I let my children go from the Communion rail to the bathrooms?

• Do I let my children leave Mass alone? What are they doing while they’re gone from Mass? Talking with friends? Drinking more water?

• Do I or my children leave Mass during the obligatory parts of the Holy Mass — the Offertory and the Consecration?

• Do I leave things (bulletins, booklets, etc) in the pews for others to clean up?

• Do I take my child to the undercroft when they are becoming a distraction to others?

AJESTIC QUEEN OF HEAVEN AND MISTRESS OF THE ANGELS, thou didst receive from God the power and commission to crush the head of Satan; wherefore we humbly beseech

thee, send forth the legions of Heaven, that, under thy command, they may seek out all evil spirits, engage them everywhere in battle, curb their insolence, and hurl them back into the pit of Hell. “Who is like unto God?” O good and tender Mother, thou shalt ever be our hope and the object of our love. O Mother of God, send forth the holy Angels to defend us and drive far from us the cruel foe. Holy Angels and Archangels, defend us and keep us. Amen.

ISTER LUCIA OF FATIMA recounts how Bd. Francisco longed to console His Majesty: “’Francisco, which do you like better—to console Our Lord, or to convert sinners, so that no more souls will

go to hell?’ ‘I would rather console Our Lord. Didn’t you notice how sad Our Lady was last month, when she said that people must not offend Our Lord any more, for He is already much offended? I would rather console Our Lord, and after that convert sinners so that they won’t offend Him anymore.’” “On one occasion, I asked him: ‘Francisco, do you feel very well?’ ‘I do, but am suffering to console Our Lord.’” “On another occasion, I found him very happy when I arrived. ‘Are you better?’ ‘No. I feel worse. It won’t be long now till I go to Heaven. When I’m there, I’m going to console Our Lord and Our Lady very much.’”

COME AND CONSOLE HIS MAJESTY, THE HIDDEN JESUS, EXPOSED EVERY FRIDAY FROM 1:00 TO 7:25 PM.
