Can you imag-ine the additional good works that can be accomplished with just a 10% increase in donors? In order to achieve this goal, each of us is asked to prayerfully open our hearts to the needs of our Dio-cese and make a gift as our individual circumstances allow.

Rachel’s Vineyard Suffering because of an abortion you could not stop? Perhaps your girlfriend or wife had an abor tion against your will. You may have been powerless to stop her decision and pro-tect your child. Fathers do not have any rights when their partner is making a decision to abort. Rachel’s Vineyard will help you to grieve your loss and deal with the powerful feelings of anger and depression you are struggling with. You will need the help of others to heal this loss. If God is calling you to hope and healing OR to minister to those in need of hope and healing here in our local community, please contact Lisa Petersen (509-421-7847 or [email protected])for more information. Your call will be kept completely confidential.

There is no question that Jesus had a way with words. The Word of the Lord is filled with what we are very familiar with in our society — sound bites if you will, which convey so much meaning. The last verses of to-day’s Gospel from St. Matthew contain one of those short statements which car-ry so much more meaning. Jesus says, “The greatest among you must be your servant. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled; but whoever humbles himself will be exalted.” In those two sentences are found the key to a stewardship way of life, which revolve around service and humility. There is no question that these are powerful words. They reveal to us all that we need to understand to be a true disci-ple of Christ. In his letter to the Philippians St. Paul wrote, “Though He was in the form of God, He did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but EMPTIED HIMSELF, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, HE HUMBLED HIMSELF by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” (Phil. 2:5-8). True humility will be ultimately exalted by God. Our society teaches us to strive to reach the top, but Jesus is reminding us that we need to regard others as more important than we are. We have two choices in life perhaps, to be self exalters, or to be God-exalted. Is there any doubt as to what we as Christians should pursue? From http://www.catholicsteward.com/blog) Information the public should know about Planned Parenthood Planned Parenthood 2015 annual report shows increases in abortion numbers and taxpayer funding in 2015, alongside decreases in contraception, breast exams and overall patient numbers. Planned Parenthood continued to maintain its status as the largest abortion provider in the United States (and again, increased its market share of that industry). The abortion group performed 328,348 abortions on unborn babies, 4,349 more than the previous year, according to the report. At the same time, it saw 2.4 million patients, about 100,000 fewer than the previous year and about 500,000 fewer than five years ago. Contraception services, which the abortion chain touts as its primary service, also dropped from 2.94 million to 2.8 million during the past two years. Meanwhile, the abortion chain received more taxpayer funding. The report shows Planned Parenthood receiving $554.6 million, up from $553.7 million the previous year. This pattern is consistent with its annual reports from the past several years. Abortions and tax-payer funding keep going up, while pa-tient numbers and other services go down. Recent polls also indicate Americans support the defunding efforts. New poll-ing found 56 percent of Americans in battleground states want Planned Parenthood defunded.
