From Fr. Theby Dear Parishioners,
Holy Week is upon us already and along with it we
have the great opportunity of entering more fully into
the mysteries of the Passion, Death and Resurrection
of Our Lord. Holy Week reminds us each year of the
extraordinary love our Merciful Father has for each
and every one of us in giving us His Beloved Son Je-
sus who freely chose to undergo the horror of His Pas-
sion and Death for us. I would like to encourage each
of you to make the best of this holy time and truly en-
ter into the celebration of these mysteries of our salva-
tion. I have two simple suggestions to help make our
Holy Week holy.
First, take extra time for silent personal prayer. Si-
lence is so important for our facilitating our encounter
with the One who was silent in the face of His arrest,
trial, suffering and death. Setting aside extra prayerful
silence can help us to hear His Word echoing in our
hearts and see His bloodied Face looking upon us with
love. Perhaps in this extra silent prayer time, it might
be very helpful to read a short passage each day from
one of the Gospel accounts of the Passion of Our
Lord. This silent, prayerful, holy reading of the Pas-
sion will help us to enter more deeply and personally
into the mysteries of Holy Week.
The second simple suggestion for this Holy Week is to
attend one or all of the liturgies of the Sacred Tridu-
um. These are the richest liturgies of our liturgical
year, helping us to experience the mysteries of His
Passion, Death and Resurrection.
Holy Thursday we will celebrate the Mass of the
Lord’s Supper at 7:30pm. In this celebration we re-
member the Last Supper as the Lord instituted the
great gifts of the Eucharist and the priesthood. After
Mass, we all are invited to pray before the Altar of
Repose where we will reserve the Blessed Sacrament
until midnight.
Then on Good Friday we will hold the Celebration of
the Passion of the Lord at noon when we will read the
Passion and venerate the Holy Cross. (Good Friday
side notes: remember it is a day of fast and abstinence,
and our eighth grade will have the Living Stations of
the Cross at 7pm in church to which all are welcome.)
Holy Saturday night we will celebrate the Easter Vigil
at 8pm (there will be no 4pm confessions or 5pm
mass) in which we celebrate the Resurrection of the
Lord and the gift of faith and new life with baptisms
and receptions into full communion of the Catholic
Church.
Finally on Sunday we will celebrate Easter with mass
at the normal times, 8am and 10am.
Happy Holy Week!
Fr. Jim Theby

Our Lady of Lourdes is in need of people to lead the Holy Rosary at our weekday and weekend Masses. Our current Leaders have been leading us in pray for over 20 years. We are truly grateful for their Leader-ship!
Mother Mary is calling to her followers to help in this great act of service. Any and all people are welcome!
