From the Pastor: Dear Parishioners: In the Christmas story we find the angel telling Joseph the babe’s name - Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sins (Matthew 1:21). Christmas tells man many things: Christmas tells us that God loves us (John 3:16). Christmas tells us that there is life in Christ, and Christmas tells us that we may be connected with the God of this universe because in knowing the Christ of Christmas, we know God the Father. The miracle of Christmas is that God chose to come to be with us in Jesus Christ. While we may over-romanticize the stable where Jesus was born, we can know that this birthing place speaks volumes about God’s infinite courtesy towards all people. Jesus was born in an earthy, raw, smelly stable, not in a temple or royal palace. “Being born in such a place is God’s way of showing that Christ comes to us in all sorts of human conditions - earthy, smelly, broken and accomplished. No matter what we’ve done or haven’t done, God comes to be with us in Jesus Christ where we are in life, and out of his great love for all humanity.” It Is my wish that this Christmas and always we can recognize in this community the amazing love of God through our brothers and sister no matter their social, economical or ethnic background. All of us at OLMC are one community of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is our center and today we are celebrating the meaning of this center and that the unity and love of our community will be always. Desde el Pastor: Queridos Parroquianos: En la historia de Navidad encontramos al ángel diciéndole a José el nombre del bebé – Jesús, pues deberá salvar a su gente de sus pecados (mateo 1:21). La Navidad nos dice a los hombres muchas cosas: Navidad nos dice que Dios nos ama (Juan 3:16). Navidad me dice que hay vida en Cristo y la Navidad nos dice que debemos estar conectados con el Dios de este universo porque conociendo al Cristo de Navidad, conocemos a Dios Padre. El milagro de Navidad es que Dios escogió venir con nosotros en Cristo Jesús. Mientras vemos románticamente el establo a donde Jesús nació, sabemos que este lugar de nacimiento dice en voz alta acerca de la infinita cortesía de Dios hacia toda la gente. Jesús nació en un terroso, tosco y mal oliente establo, no en un templo o palacio real. Naciendo en tal lugar es la forma en que Dios nos muestra que Cristo viene a nosotros en todas las clases de la condición humana. Tosco, mal oliente, roto y perfecto. No importa lo que hemos hecho o hemos dejado de hacer, Dios viene para estar con nosotros en Cristo Jesús donde estemos en vida y fuera de su gran amor para toda la humanidad. Este es mi deseo, que en esta Navidad y siempre reconozcamos en esta comunidad el asombroso amor de Dios a través de nuestros hermanos y hermanas no importa su nivel social, económico o étnico, todos nosotros OLMC somos una comunidad en Jesúcristo. Confirmation Parish Christmas Party! Save the date - Friday, December 30th at 6:30 PM in the Parish Hall. The Parish Christmas Party for parishioners will be hosted by Confirmation II. Join us for an evening of fellowship, food, and fun as we bring back an OLMC tradition. Pot luck, music entertainment, gift exchange, and door prizes. Potluck are requested to be in disposable containers. Bear Drawings Thank You Congratulations to the following winners of Confirmation II Christmas Bear drawings: Maria Lopez [460094], Maribel Ortiz [141188], Efren Santacruz [397135], and Adrian Perez Rubio [397051]. Thank you to all parishioners for the support. $500 was raised for the parish. Retreat Balance Payments and Schedule Pick-up 2017 parents are reminded to please make September-December retreat payments no later than Sunday, January 8, 2017. Outstanding retreat balances will incur late fee starting January 9. January schedule will also be available for pick-up.
