Our Lady of Mt Carmel, is served

by the Congregation of the Missionaries of St. Charles – Scalabrinians – .

We are an community of Catholic religious serving migrants and refugees of different

cultures, religions and ethnicities in 32 countries. The Congregation was founded in Italy

on November 28, 1887, by Blessed John Baptist Scalabrini (1839-1905),

bishop of Piacenza (Italy). Our missionary focus is to be migrants

with the migrants and to be in mission with people on the move,

with a special priority for the poorest And neediest migrants.

This XIV Sunday of Ordinary Time, in the vivid experience of Jesus we arechallenge toopenourhearts toothers. Jesusarrives inNazareth,accompaniedbyhisdisciples, and surprisinglynoone cameout tomeet him. Jesusexperienced rejectionfromhisownpeople,fromthosewhobelievedtheyknewhimbetterthananyoneelse.Jesusfelt"despised",hispeopledidnotaccepthimasthebeareroftheGoodNewsandofthemessageofthesalvationofGod.Thepre-conceptedideatheyhadcreatedoftheirneighborJesusmadethemreluctanttoopenthemselvestothemysterythatJesuswasrevealing.Jesusremindedthemofasayingthat,probably,weallknow:"Aprophetisnotwithout honor except in his native place, among his own kin and in his ownhouse."Jesusalsosaid:"Hewasamazedattheirlackoffaith."Ibelieveitisthe irsttimethatJesusexperiencedacollectiverejection,notonlyofthereligiousleaders,butofallhispeople. Jesus did not expect this from his people. Their disbelief even blocked Hisabilitytoheal:"hewasnotabletoperformanymightydeedthere,apartfromcuringafewsickpeople”.Aswe joyfullycontinuewithourNOVENAandFEAST, letusasktheOurLadyofMountCarmeltohelpustoopenourselvestoJesus’Graceandthroughherintercession be illed with God’s blessings that will help us to journey as men andwomenoffaith,charityandhope.HappyAnniversaryandHappyHoliday.BLESSINGS!!!

jubilee events and received a passport can redeem their "stamped passport"

for raffle tickets at the OLMC religious goods tent outside

church during the novena and the feast, July 6-13.

FRIDAY, JULY 13TH IS THE LAST DAY TO REDEEM

YOUR PASSPORT. For every stamp you received, you

get one raffle ticket. If you attended an event and did not get a stamp, you will be able to get your stamp when

you turn in your passport. The drawing for the "passport"

raffle will be in church on Feast Sunday, July 15, immediately

following the benediction.
